backstory:

backstory:
A simple halfling with a penchant for the extraordinary he grew up in a small town in the empire destined for a boring life as a cooper building barrels for the lord’s wine. But when fate struck and his family got bought out by a merchant he was free to do what he wanted no longer bound to helping dear old dad and ma. With their early retirement he decided to go and see the world and experience some of what it had to offer. He traveled for a good long time seeing the cities and learning about what this world had to offer he found he had a way of talking his way of making friends with people atleast for the moment in every town. And as time went on he found he was quite good with the strange and unique curiosities that people had. He began to collect them and soon made a living selling odd trinkets and items with minor magicks. This went on for some time and as he reached his 37th summer he went to the large city of Hilmdrast to sell some of his curios he had collected. While peddling a dwarf in fine clothes walked up to him and asked him how familiar he was with magical objects of strange nature. Seeing a chance to see something extraordinary he touted himself as an expert on the subject. The dwarf took him on to help him understand an artifact he had found. He was given a lavish pouch of coin and shown a ancient looking amulet. Not wanting to lose the opportunity or the money Dwendle did his usual plan of try first and ask later. Putting the item on he saw the very fabric of time tear as he watched the beginning of the universe come into existence and then fast forward. As it went on he saw all of time and the words pass through his mind. Yog-Sothoth knows the gate. Yog-Sothoth is the gate. Yog-Sothoth is the key and guardian of the gate. Past, present, future all are one in Yog-Sothoth. He knows where the old ones broke through of old, and where they shall break through again. And in the last moment he saw the universe open up and a bright light of spheres come through as all of reality was torn and entities of unknowable terror and power came through. In that moment he awoke standing in the room with the dwarf. He was smiling as the once ancient looking amulet was now smooth and freshly hewn. The shine of obsidian and amethyst on his neck. In that moment he felt a purpose to serve this entity and help it, but as he did the dwarf called for guards and they rushed in. He screamed about how he had stolen his money and his family heirloom. And as Dwendle tried to run he was caught and the closeness he felt to that being was gone as the amulet was removed. They chained him and took him to prison. As he sat in chains he felt a new energy inside him, he knew that he had a purpose now and that he had been close to it before, he did need to see the world and it’s oddities; but he needed to find the one that were of the one, Yog-Sothoth. As they tried him he sat silent safe in that he was doing what was right, with years of labor about to be leveled on he called out mustering a font of personality he didn’t know he had. “Why not the front lines. Sneak thieves are always useful for the empire.” And it was there that it was decided he would serve the empire as a patriot.
