Am I alone in thinking invested regents are just Awful? Monks already need to balance Wisdom, Strength and Dex to be effective and now Charisma as well? The only situation I could ever see playing this archtype is when rolling for stats and even then only rolling extremely well.

From what I understand from the stories of minor deities, a god is created by mortals worshiping them. Either in life or in death. Kurgess, a athlete known far and wide around the realm was immortalized after his death by the very same athletes he competed against, giving him the base of worshipers to spread his faith around.

It's said that Kurgess might have been a demi-god by birth already and that it was Cayden Calean, his father who raised him to godhood. But it gives you an idea of how religions can spread. Just be famous enough that people already know about you and then die a martyr and there's a non-zero chance you'll become a minor god.

Casting raise dead on this thread so I can add my two cents...

I'm thinking the best way to use Sow thoughts is incrementally. Start with basic things like, "It sure is nice of X to give me this job." "I wouldn't mind working for X more if they'll keep paying this well." Small, positive thoughts, maybe even a bit redundant, don't directly force them into service to you but just give them a job and pay them well for it.

Then, work your way up to more influential thoughts like. "It would be best for me to keep working here." "I can trust X to keep me safe from Y" Again, it's probably thoughts they'd already had themselves, they probably won't even notice the deception and that's the ideal. It's not a suggestion spell, it's better, you just need to work for it and bide your time. Don't try to cast Sow thoughts like 4 times over the course of a single day and expect them not to notice something is up if these thoughts keep telling them things they'd never consider.

The above would probably be implemented over the course of months in game time. Really, you could just make a few choice diplomacy checks and raise their opinion of you to max, but this is much more fun to me.

I'm going to assume you at least want the option to be Good or at least Neutral so I'll avoid anything that pigeon-holes your alignment directly. Annis-Born Changelings gain a +2 to Strength and claws. In addition, their Hag racial trait gives them another +1 to melee damage rolls. Then worship Nethys for his destruction domain which will give you Destructive Smite. A druid would really be better up to the task of natural attacking holy person, but that should be obvious.

Eldritch Claws isn't going to be available until 8th level so you'll need some other way to punch through DR until then. And that's where my willingness to google things runs out. Good Luck to you sir

I came to this thread looking for an explanation on what a lake full of unholy water would do. Since Ghawwas can use Curse Water at will I imagine a collection of them could curse an entire lake given enough time. Fish die or leave the lake, plants in the surrounding area wither and die, spontaneous undead would begin to rise from the grave. Good-aligned creatures that drink the water would start getting sick or worse corrupted. It would be neat is what I'm saying.

Hi everyone, I'm relatively new to GMing and so rather than try to come up with everything myself I thought I'd ask for the help of the forum.

So, the scenario is thus, I want to make use of the bonus spells granted by the Grand Coven ritual without having to fill the room with a dozen hags.

Enter the magic item; A cauldron which is used as part of the Grand Coven ritual, or at least a modified version of it. I can come up with a fitting description easily enough but I'd like help The Cauldron is set with 13 gems hold the souls of those hags whose essence will be used to power the coven spells.

Now, obviously a fully empowered cauldron giving one hag or witch access to the full power of the expanded coven spell list would be a bit much so in order to tone it down, there could be less or more if you wanted to go in the opposite direction.

And here is where I ask for your help.

  • How do I stat this thing? I can think of a few things to balance it out, like the coven needing to continually sacrifice intelligent creatures into the pot to keep the hag souls from escaping or some such.
  • How much is it worth?
  • Does the item sound too powerful to be craftable? Should it be an artifact or simply unique?
  • What should the DC on the check to avoid having one's soul trapped?
  • What would this add to the CR of an encounter with a coven of hags?

  • I really don't get why people would recommend builds that break the 19 levels of wizard he's already got going for him... The whole point of his character is that he's Just a powerful wizard who's got a cult of personality around him. I guess people just don't think pure wizards can cut the mustard anymore

Dead Thread bla blah blah. I actually had a thought about this earlier. I think Razmir has probably barred Conjuration and Necromancy. Ya know, the two schools that would A.) Allow him to do the ol' scry/teleport combo, grab whatever life-giving elixir he needs in person and be back before lunch. And B.) Research the necromancy necessary to prolonging his existence with unlife or barring that pull some soul swapping shenanigans.
