I'm aware this is a post from last year, but I'm going to GM Season of Ghosts soon and I just wanted to add, this really isn't game breaking at all.

If you Aid Harvest, it implies there is already food ready to harvest. Food that grew during the summer. The main thing the PC provides besides emergency plantation help is manpower - Willowshore's population has gone down substantially.

You might say this gives a bonus to the roll because PCs can avoid sifting through potentially ravaged crops for viable food, and it could definitely circumvent some of the emergency plantation.

If combined with other PCs using spells to pick all the apples at once or preserving them really fast I could see it becoming an automatic critical success for the week, or maybe two automatic successes at the expense of two downtime activities. But it really doesn't seem all that unbalanced, and as people have mentioned, a diet of only (dried? preserved?) apples would be pretty bad for health and morale, potentially capping the benefit or reducing Hope during winter.

Unless I'm missing something?
