"I did have some recent practice with swimming on my last lodge assignment, but I did find my gear to be a bit much to overcome. A large metal greatsword does not provide much buoyiency. I would prefer a swim as a LAST resort."

since the drop through the hole is 10', by chance is Alcorta able to hover 10' above the floor? Thus allowing a person to be directly under it without squeezing? I'm trying to get flanking, of course.

All wet from his swim, Draylan shakes off the excess water, but realizes there is no time to dottle.

Whether the action "works" or not, this is what my character intended to do. So... let's set how it all plays out! Spots should have no trouble tripping one of them.

Just let me know if you need any special rolls, or anything. If Draylan falls in the water, so be it. If he somehow manages to reach the ledge, and can pull himself onto the deck, great. Perhaps in mid air... seeing he's not going to make it, he can grab hold of the gangplank on his left side instead to save himself from dropping to the water.

Whatever you think applies. No matter what happens, you can't say it wasn't eventful. :)

where is the fun in running around? I took a look a the map on my break. any reason why Draylan can't back up 1 and jump forward, putting him inbetween the enemies. Then have Spots move 2 right and jump across to flank with enemy up 3, right 1 from their current location? Seems like that would make everything work?

If you don't think this is feesable, then go ahead with the climb up take 2 AoO's from the emenies on both sides. It's all good either way!

And where are my hero/cool points for this? lol

If not... then...

Draylan almost makes it but comes up just short. As he slams into the side of the ship he makes a frantic attempt to grab the side an pull himself up.

"Spots! Damn cat gets overworked so easily. I guess that means I need to get in on the fight." Draylan eyes the gap across the dock to the ship a few times. He channels the aspect of the frog just to be sure.

Draylan uses swift action to activate animal focus: frog

"Here goes nothing!" Draylan fires forward and tries to get enough momentum to carry him across.

Animal Focus:
Animal Focus (Su): At 1st level, a hunter can take on the aspect of an animal as a swift action. She must select one type of animal to emulate, gaining a bonus or special ability based on the type of animal emulated and her hunter level. The hunter can use this ability for a number of minutes per day equal to her level. This duration does not need to be consecutive, but must be spent in 1-minute increments. The hunter can emulate only one animal at a time.

The hunter can also apply one of these aspects to her animal companion. Unlike with the hunter herself, there is no duration on the animal aspect applied to her animal companion. An aspect applied in this way does not count against the hunter's minutes of duration per day—it remains in effect until the hunter changes it. The companion's aspect can be the same aspect the ranger has taken on or a different one. The hunter can select or change the animal foci on both herself and her animal companion as part of the same swift action.

Frog: The creature gains a +4 competence bonus on Swim checks and on Acrobatics checks to jump. These bonuses increase to +6 at 8th level and +8 at 15th level.
