Dorn gave a slight nod to the knight. "All my paperwork is in order, were it otherwise then that would be a crime against the lords in Waterdeep. I would never dream of such foolishness. Now as to the quality of my drink, that is a matter of taste. But I do try to have something for everyone, as a favored drink is far more welcome. Now give me a moment." He goes off into the wagon, returning moments later with a pair of mugs. "Now here I have a little taste of home for you I think. A bit of Suzale otherwise known as Purple Dragon Ale, no easy task getting that in Waterdeep. As for this one, Golden Sands Brew. Calishite beer, well enough on it's own but it's true worth is as a base. Toss in what you fancy and with a bit of time find a new taste in it. Try a bit of each to verify my wares, let their quality go undoubted." He offers the knight whichever mug he prefers. The truth was his wares were good and of Waterdeep. Getting this one to testify to that would go far in having his fellows come to clean him out.

Vorik everyone had plans. Then a army encircled the city so no one can leave. Plans changed and at the moment the city reps are surrendering. So Dorn suggest you don't butt into that and wait for the other waterdeep merchants to come around. That way as a group we can deal with the army. A group of merchants from an allied city will hold some sway as opposed to not. I don't see how that is unreasonable.
Male Chondathan Human Apprentice
Dorm shook his head before Vorik finished. "Your forgetting our positions. The waterdeep merchants will talk with the commanders soon enough as a group. Cormyr and Waterdeep are allies, they are no threat to us. When that time comes we take it. We don't need to act strangely. To get out of this." No employer let's a temporary employee take the lead much less speak for them. The purple dragons would dig at that, his cover would stand. It was his life after all. No one else's would, they didn't need that gamble.

Even zero level PCs are exceptional by virtue of being a PC. Dorn's spellcraft is high enough to ID any spell with a high enough roll for example. Also Mirrormane is a priest, a divine caster. They don't need or utilize spellcraft as much as arcane casters. It's actually perfectly reasonable for priest to have little knowledge on how magic works sense their magic is faith based and granted. You don't need to know how it works, you just need to believe. ;P

As soon as Dorn had awoken he had discreetly made his way back to his wagon with Rook. Even if the settlement went wild then it would be best to have his guards and property at hand. If things went a more peaceful route, the more likely event in his mind, then having his fellow merchants around could prove useful. If anything the caravan was a good gathering point.

Really hope Suni didn't just waste 15 of our words. ;P So I think we are agreed about asking for more info on the other agents. Who wants to ask? Dorn is smart enough to think it up and has enough pull but doesn't care if someone else beats him to it. So long as it's brought up.
Male Chondathan Human Apprentice
He knew it was one or the other, predictable given the information at hand. Dorn shakes his head at those around him. "Gundwynd is angry about his sullied family honor and reputation. Not so much that his daughter had a tryst, hardly uncommon in Waterdeep. As well as his daughter being so easily, in his opinion I'd guess, fooled into getting bedded by a employed sunite at that. Another insult to his honor as an employer atop that of a father. It's not our concern and has no effect on us, best ignored in my opinion." He sits back down and Rook takes his place near him, more alert then before. Not that Dorn was going to let this chance slip away, the merchant had made the mistake of letting his anger get the better of him. He was going to take advantage of that to spread his shame and poor judgement. After all Gundwynd had meddled with him, a toll would be extracted for that. His public display of his failings as a father and employer would be spread to the right ears. His standing would fall, even if just for a time, where Xizurth would profit along with those that supported them. That was what carelessness and poor foresight got you, he endeavored to possess nether.

Your metagame should remember this deity a little better. Cyric don't do no favors for no one but himself. ;) Honestly I'm wondering about the king coming to town. More then if lover boy is going to get a beating or Cyric is going to bloody someone on his way out of the place.

Kyorruel:
Dorn welcomes the company of the elf for dinner. He listens to his information. Good thing they would be leaving the same day, they didn't need guards of that ability near them. He responds quietly in kind with some of his own information. "Good to know, better that our departure lines up. We don't need that sort of trouble. As for me, I found out that the local thieves guilds are having a little shadow war. Rivals going at it during the night, best stay indoors as crossfire seems to be common."
When Kyorruel poses his question, Dorn whispers a reply. "We will find out soon enough. But if I had to guess, family or gold. Tends to always be one or the other in some way with career merchant nobles. Sometimes it's only gold."

Dorn had learned a few choice bits of information, as well as recalled his own. But such was his mission they would have to be tucked away for another day or avoided altogether. He had chosen to have his dinner near and exit with a solid wall to his back for good measure and wise habits. Rook's head was in his lap, even if his eyes were wide open, as the night drew on and he relaxed. Then it seems like all hell was breaking loose, Gundwynd the cause. A cruel thought crossed his mind, perhaps fate had rewarded him for his meddling and disregarding of his counsel. He doubted Kelemvor was involved, Cyric was the likely culprit if betrayal was involved as he seemed the type, then again Adon had been playing with the man's daughter. Still matters of that nature were something you tended to keep private or at least wait long enough to catch the man with in arms length. If he was a betting man, he was not, he would pick Cyric as the source. Which meant this would not end well, caution never hurt. Dorn rises in case he needed to make for the exit or move out of the way of something. Rook takes his place before his master, ears flat and teeth peeking below his lips but no sound escaping to warn anyone. Eyes scanning for threats. He wanted to see how this played out, then act accordingly.

Kyorruel just stole a fist sized emerald. Next time we are in Zhentil Keep you hear a rumor that someone stole from Fzoul while he was disguised, he lost a fist sized emerald with an important prisoner's soul inside. Now the high priest is on a war path for the thief. xP P.S. The sharper archetype would be perfect for a nonstop thief.

Edit- Suni you have clearly not seen the show with a sherlock holmes that is a recovering drug addict and has regular sexual marathons while working with the police to catch criminals. It's on season 5 right now last I checked. xD

Unless I am remembering wrong, bladesingers just used a special elf sword style that made their swords appear to sing from the strokes. I don't think the weapons themselves were an instrument or used as such. I do remember singing swords, another elf related thing I think, but they were magical weapons that would give a boast similar to a bard's performance when used. Sort of strange their isn't a weapon/instrument now that I think of it, or maybe I just don't remember. x) @Suni
Promethean alchemist are the poor man's solution to getting a homunculus while losing all the alchemist great abilities. You give up brewing, bombs, and mutagen along with their attached discoveries for something you can get with enough gold. With the construct upgrading rules you can even make a better version earlier if you invest the money rather then wait on levels as you would with this archetype. Vivisectionist are a mixed bag. You trade bombs for sneak attack and pretty much get the ability to make animals into humanoid shape later on. But personally bombs are the whole point to alchemist for me. Giving it up makes an investigator a better choice most of the time as I see it. @Pox

Oh Dorn doesn't take anything personal, at least not at this point. He is playing his cover and that's all. If anything he is less then thrilled. But that's it, he is not touchy and see's no benefit to things like revenge. Dispassion is a businessman's best friend, as someone once said. ;D Bonus points if you know where I got that from.

Off the top of my head, I would look at singing steel which as armor or a weapon with a weight 5 lbs. or more will give you the ability to cut down your bardic performance action by one step (standard to move or move to swift) when you use it. Afterwards you have to take 10 minutes to "reset" that ability before you can use it again. Also I would look at the totem spear which acts as a wind instrument and gives you +2 to acrobatics, but you have to be trained in it. So you would have to pick up exotic weapon proficiency. Hope that helps. :)

I'll tell you right now, investigators are late bloomers. It takes a few painful levels for them to really come online but when their prepared they can be a beast. Not to mention their natural skill monkeys no matter how you play them. But just my opinion. xP Edwin what instrument are you going for? Or rather which perform skill if not something you play? Mawj you multiclassing?

Dorn smiles. "Come now, the whole point of our caravan is to return home with a tidy profit. You'll get no objections from me about a layover." It would be odd for a merchant to pass up a chance for profit and a little more comfort. Anyways he had things of his own to gather and some of his wares had been earmarked exactly for certain destinations, Tilverton included. If he sold them somewhere else they may not bring in as much value. Unless stopped Dorn makes sure the wagon is lock and secured with his personal guards before leaving with Rook. He had deals to make and opportunities to take advantage of.
Male Chondathan Human Apprentice
With your stats you could go unchained rogue, investigator, alchemist, slayer, or swashbuckler easy. Maybe an occult class, but I have not looked into those enough to say much at the moment. You going for a self buffer or a toucher magus? If you don't mind me asking. :)

Dorn's wagon backdoor opens and Rook walks out, looking side to side and snuffing the air. Dorn follows a moment later, fully dressed and looking oddly refreshed for someone traveling on the road for so long. A slice of bread in his mouth and a ledger in his hands. He waves over his nearest personal house guard, giving him instructions on checking the wagon and everyone's readiness. He takes a seat on the wagon steps while still going through the ledger. Any merchant worth his salt did inventory daily at least, making sure nothing walked off. He felt confident in his wagon's security and Rook but none the less he was not in the habit of being complacent.

Dorn After Dark: Catching his attention by clearing his throat slightly. He didn't show any expression and kindness was not in his nature, at least outside his family. Most people simply sought an excuse for everything but themselves. Seemed Kelemvor was wiser then that, still he had made a different mistake in his eyes. "I'll agree that pursuit seems unlikely with what you have told me. But I fear you are mistaken about the supposed blood on your hands. Without being there myself, I can not say with certainty that you are blameless. But from what you have told me, it seems you blame yourself more then you should. You may have picked the men, but you only gave them a choice. They chose to follow and agreed to let you lead them. The only sin you have committed by my reasoning is being less of a leader then you and they believed. You made a mistake, granted a costly one, but life is not fair. We can only make the best choice we can and learn from failure. Remember and do better is my advice, for whatever it may be worth." He pours a second cup and takes up his own, offering the other to Kelemvor. "Evermead, fine drink for their memory. A small offering, but such things have meaning no less." He leaves it at that after taking a draw for the dead.

Dorn after Dark: He snaps his fingers softly at the dog along with a sharp call. Rook calms and remains silent but watches the man carefully. He speaks softly as well but firmly to his guards. "I already said he could pass earlier. Easy gentlemen, this one is smarter then the last. A lot stronger I'd venture a guess, a bit nobler too if I'm not mistaken. Not that it hasn't been known to happen mind you, a bit recently too." He chuckles darkly as he waves the man forward. He reserved his foul mood for those that deserved it, along with his cold schemes. He mind was already going to work on the possibilities. The best, the worst, the most satisfying, and the most efficient.
