I have been on these Boards since...hmmm...one moment....
....looks like my initial PFS character was 2013. So, about that long. I've been gaming (mostly D&D), since 1982.
My older cousin needed two more players for his Homebrew, so he gave my twin and I "The Hobbit", told us to read it by end of Summer and pick whom we wanted to play.
We started that initial foray into Adventuring that July. I played "Gandalf". I've been a Wizard preferred player ever since.
I've played through every edition until 4th, then my home group switched to Pathfinder1e.
Enjoyed an embarrassing plethora of completed Campaigns, APs, Modules. I've completed all 10 seasons of PFS1e. I have been quite fortunate to have been part of many past, present and (fingers crossed) future PbPs.
I am currently playing in....one moment.... apparently 15 PbP. I also play (along with my poor wife) Starfinder Mondays on Foundry, along with Abomination Vaults on Tuesdays and Strength of Thousands on Fridays (which I DM).
I like gaming.
I am a chef by trade. I have been in the Food Industry (don't do it) in one form or another since age 14. My bad. After much resistance on my part, I finally went and got my Culinary Arts degree at age 40. It felt good.
This is my 3rd attempt at WotW. I understand the way PbPs work. I accept the possibility of either outcome with each and every PbP that I submit a character to. I try to do my part in each game that I've committed to.
As I am a bit old hat at this, I have really narrowed my DM preferences over the years too ...lol.
Welcome aboard to those new and great to see you again for those not as new ..
Looking forward to much Devil inspired shenanigans!
A bit of his recent history building off his Campaign Trait.
Backstory:
Standing, casually sipping from a fine crystal goblet, a tall, muscular man with red skin, cloven hooves, and black hair and horns raises said goblet to his lips. His blue eyes crinkle in amusement at those gathered together.
Anyone have any amusing Prison Break stories to regale a fellow with?
The mischievously grinning devil offers a wink to his newest group of malcontents.
Ever heard the story of Mephistopheles?
In the small town of Eldridge, a once-peaceful community was rocked by the clandestine activities of Mephistopheles, a cunning devil who sowed seeds of sedition among the townsfolk, promising power and riches in exchange for their souls. The church of Mitra, a bastion of hope and morality, became embroiled in a fierce battle against the seductive allure of his dark influence. However, his efforts were thwarted when a group of vigilant paladins, tipped off by whispers of sinister gatherings, descended upon the town. Armed with holy light and unyielding resolve, they caught Mephistopheles in the midst of his manipulations, ready to face judgment for the chaos he had unleashed.
The saddened blue eyes of the Devil drip a lonely tear.
The beautifully crafted artistry of Mephistopheles' sedition was thusly bound, gagged, tried, and sent to Branderscar Prison.
The devil shrugs.
But that, my newest company of like-minded citizens, is when the fun really started ....
The tall devil roars a disturbing laugh at that...
Much appreciated! I have the bare bones rolling about in my head already...lol. He is looking fun!
I am entirely certain that his Ancestry may cause some heads to swivel, necks to crack, knuckles getting a bit dusty; but, he is a peaceful, patient, probably a bit particular druid Gnoll ..lol.
Also this Ability will certainly go a long way!
Patience of Nature (Ex):
An ancient guardian does not gain wild empathy at 1st level. Instead, at 2nd level, an ancient guardian adds Diplomacy, Perform (oratory), and Sense Motive to her list of class skills and gains an insight bonus equal to half her druid level on such checks. This ability replaces wild empathy.
You may have reservations at seeing his Cha score, but, that goes away as he levels...hehe! Most charming Gnoll druid ever!
Much appreciated, GM Aldizog! Agreed about the theme of the Archetype.
Considering either Pharasma or Nethys as his deity. His older twin siblings are a Witch and a Wizard, so him being of Nethys seems warranted.
Pharasma obviously fits the theme overtly.
I like both angles, so it will come down to more research....hehe.
Theodore Samuel Walden Glitterfounder Human Cleric (Roaming Exorcist) has been literally wandering the dirty pathways of The Hunt in his home land of Ustalav for years. His twin older siblings have abandoned him to his delirium, disillusions, dirty (possibly mad) rantings about routing out the Evil bit by dirty bit....
A few memories proceeded to manifest while reading your OP.
I started with Fighter, Cleric, Magic-User, and Thief and added the ones I thought were suitable...
Red Book, Blue Book, Purple Book! Fun times!
And...
This is true. But it's not just the tracking, it's the story that it tells. My least favorite part of LotR is when the hobbits strip the Moria goblins of all their armor so they can sell it to Galadriel to buy magic items. Oh wait, they don't do that. Maybe I'm thinking of that scene in the Expendables when they collect the sidearms from every mook they kill so they can fence them and buy a rocket launcher. Nope, they don't do that either. Obviously my approach is not the default these days, but I am asking players to trust me on this. I may do some of the old-school GM'ing of "drop the right item for the guy who needs a boost".
This really brings me back to the old days of the only gear you got was what you found. I really didn't start with the Store Purchases until I started playing PFS. This sounds like good old self-reliance (with hopefully spot on team work) to get through the dirt and grime, the blood and gore, the cotton candy and turkey legs!
I wish to definitely submit a sucker for the pending carnage!
As the Kyonin Queen has called for a Diplomatic envoy to represent the Ilveranii, the Elders have chosen newly raised Twight light Speaker Idari Lucien as their representative.
In order to throw their hat into the ring please provide the following information
1. Describe a character that you would like to play this adventure with, I don't need a build and a list of features, but give me a paragraph about them.
My initial response would be a Caster that earns his money the old fashion way. By hiring out his Arcane expertise and if the targets tend to be rivals, nuisances, or just in the way, well, he will gladly take the coin too. For research purposes of course.
2. What is your experience with PBP/PBD? Have you played APs/standalone adventures in that format, and what have you found challenging about them.
This seems a bit Age revealing...lol. I started at age 9 when my older cousin needed more players for his Red Box D&D group. He gave me The Hobbit and told me to read it and pick which character I wanted to play.
Well...:
Gandalf the Grey was my inspiration for Loges the Wise. My initial Wizard (and many incarnations since).
I have been involved in many PbP here on the Boards. I began with PFS and eventually branches out to non-PFS games here.
I have been humbled by the many completed APs, modules, one-shots here on the Boards. My Campaign Page is yours to browse if you wish.
My most recent completed AP is Fists of the Ruby Phoenix.
3. Give me the answer to the following question: You play dice in a casino, and you have a strong inkling that Nivi is playing at your table. How would you notice? (Yes I know that this is a silly question)
Peering at my cards, carefully watching the other players, involuntarily tapping my foot on her chair leg, I wager All in!
This is the direction my fingers went as I was pondering my concept for this particular game....
Flies and Honey:
The familiar creaking of the front door invades the solitary gnome's studying.
Please refrain from traipsing mud on the carpets. I just had them cleaned.
The rustling of metal, along with the unmistakable rough sounds of laughter are returned as a retort.
I was not expecting....
The 2' tall gnome standing next to a stuffed chair, holding a book and apparently readying for bed as befits his current attire, squeaks at the unexpected, but unmistakable presence of a trio of dottari.
Ah, hello gentlemen. May I help you? And, perhaps, why you are in my home.
The unmistakable sounds of laughter erupt from the militarily dressed dottari.
A bit unnerved by the apparent pronouncement of unrelenting violence emanating from the trio of dottari, the gnome grins as he begins brainstorming.
Taking a few steps backwards, the nervous gnome trips over a broom that then smacks down on the fresh gotten jar of honey on the table!
Blue eyes following the progress of said honey pot (psychic manifesting flawlessly forthcoming), the Mesmerist lands with a thump on the floor. The tumbling honey pot follows him like a bee to...well...
Just as the grinning gnome Vanishes, the smell of delicious honey fills the small abode.
The shifting sounds of creaking armor, the unmistakable smashing of furniture and the unrelenting cracking of tables, chairs and the new chandelier reach the invisible (but sticky) gnomes ear.
Reacting as anyone would, he stands and climbs out of the kitchen window! Unfortunately, he lands in the bushes which seem to be filled with vermin! Spiders crawling and creeping decide by the hundreds to go check out that sweet, sweet scent that suddenly sprouted!
Sighing (but screaming inside), the panicking gnome gags, crawls, hacks and slashes his way to freedom! He runs away deciding that rent was too high in that neighborhood anyway....
Btw, as the Remastered Swashbuckler Archetype no longer grants the +1 circumstances bonuses to Acrobatics or Style skill, our Goblin's Panache is really only flavor until 4th unfortunately....
I am in agreement with Qafathiel. I absolutely love PbP because one can be immersed as much as one allows themselves.
I have my moments. Ask anyone that has been in games with me. I also have moments when only a quick posts in allowable. Happens too.
Also, depends on personal character immersion. There are some of my characters that I like better than others (parents say they don't have a favorite but...), therefore, their posts may be more involved, interesting, entertaining. Happens. Some just don't grab me at all, and those are difficult.
Virgil is such one actually. I am not enjoying him as I should (or the Table deserves).
@TechoWrath since we are at Defender's Heart, there could potentially be another, different character willing to take up arms (feet, hands, torsos and fingers and toes) for the Cause?....this would be a good place for a change if allowed?
Not certain how the Table feels about Virgil, or even this request?
