I get a lot of maps from the Board Game Virtual Tabletop Vassal. The one I use for mass combat is the Band of Brothers game:
You can see the type of maps included by looking at the screen shots before you download the 55MB .VMOD file. This is just a zipped file so open it with Winzip or similar and extract the images file - amongst the tokens and stuff will be a dozen or so maps. ![]()
I was reading a friend's (I think official Paizo) book that had loads of additional powers/feats/stuff for melee fighters. It had some pretty gruesome stuff like decapitation in it. I thought it was called something like "strategies and tactics" but cannot find anything called that. I would like to get it to make a character but cannot for the life of me remember what its name was.... Can anyone help me please? ![]()
I read somewhere, many months ago, that P was developing a VTT. And, I even thought that I read about a beta being available. But I cannot find any official news or updates. There are hundreds of posts on the interwebs saying how good it could be, but is there an official update? Does anyone know when it is due? Has it died a death? I would love to use it in a couple of months when I start a new campaign, but will stick with Maptools if it is not available because I have already been burned by other big companies' VTT software promises ! Cheers,

Hey guys, thanks for the comments (this board seems pretty friendly, I'm glad I jumped on). But I think you are beginning to scare me more and more. I really do not want to be screwing around with logging onto the internet during a game or editing Word documents as prep for a game. The reason I buy modules is so that I don't have to do any prep. Has anyone told Paizo that their fans are doing all this non-value added work - copying and pasting data from one PDF to another? Maybe they should review their stat block format as Wrath suggested? I am committed to PF now since I got the books for christmas, but I have to say I am not looking forward to running it after this little discussion. Thanks for helping out an old newb guys. ![]()
Wrath, that was the point I was implying in my first post. I run 4E scenarios without any of the books because all the information I need is in the stat block for an NPC. Is there any discussion or feedback to Paizo that this is a problem for new players? The search I did before I raised the question did not seem to throw up anyone else having the same issues, which surprised me. I am going to give Pathfinder a good run (because I have run out of 30 level campaigns for 4E) but I think the constant referring to books (for spells and feats etc) could be a deal breaker. I am not one for doing lots of pre-work or memorising the rule books. I want a scenario to be stand alone....perhaps Pathfinder is not for me and I will find myself going back to AD&D. Only time will tell. ![]()
I have DM'ed 4E for the last five years or so. But I have become frustrated with the lack of support for it. I only ever DM published 1-30 campaigns. So I am looking to hop over to Pathfinder and have grabbed a couple of the adventure paths. The thing I am struggling with is the amount of stuff that is not included in the adventures (like npc stats and spells I need to look up at the table). Most recently I came across a NPC who had three feats (one increased initiative, one increased damage and one other). My question is: are these feat bonuses included in the stats of the NPC or do I need to adjust the bonuses at the table? If the feat bonuses are included in the initiative/damage/etc stats then why are the feats mentioned in the stat block? It has just led to confusion on my part. Is there anything else like this that I need to be aware of (stuff that I can effectively ignore and do not have to look up at the table). I am trying to speed up the game and reduce the amount of referring to the rule books that I have to do at the table. |
