In regards to Doctor Archisa Aparn - he has a wide array of spells. If you come up with some support that Kaddren cannot provide, he can muster up a scroll, potion, or wand (at cost) to help you out. It is unlikely that he will accompany you on your missions though.

"Ah Harpies. Well as you know ...."

Harpies:
Often viewed as vicious and corrupted creatures, harpies know how creatures think and act. This understanding gives them an advantage when it comes to finding their favorite meals. While creatures of the wild easily fall victim to their captivating songs, these vile bird-women prefer their meals spiced with complex sentient thoughts. Easy prey makes for a boring meal.

While ultimately savage and without remorse for their actions, a number of harpies live close to humanoid societies and enjoy parlaying with creatures that they see as potential meals.

Harpies tend to wear baubles and trinkets stolen from their victims, as they like to indulge in the shiny ornaments of mankind. Up close, these creatures reek with the stench of consumed victims, and they rarely let creatures not yet captivated too near, lest they smell the gore and decay upon their feathers. For this reason, many harpies wear perfumes and scented oils.

Harpies appear wildly different in different lands. Some seem like an amalgam of vultures and women, while others bear the regal markings of hawks or falcons in their feathers. Rare clutches of harpies in isolated and tropical parts of the world even have colorful feathers akin to parrots.

the doctor drones on.

"We would need some sort of spell casting to negate the effects of their Captivating Song. And we would need something to offer them. I am not sure the giants would really count as possessing complex sentient thoughts.

"I also fear that we would trade one enemy tennent on the land we need for another. But if they could spend unnecessary resources fighting each other, they would weaken themselves for us. Arimar, I notice that you tend to be a man of your word. How would you feel if we were to parley with the harpies, and renege on our promises?"

"My how exciting. If you all don't mind, I would prefer to say here in Northpass. If there is anything that I can do to assist you before you depart, you only need to say the word. I think that I shall take a walk and take in the sights of the town if you don't mind.

"Now where is my walking stick?" Doctor Archisa Aparn pushes back from the table and shakily regains his footing before spotting his walking stick, standing alone and perfectly straight in the middle of the room. "Ah, there it is. See you all later." Doctor Archisa Aparn moves over and grips the knob of his walking stick before departing the inn.

Doctor Archisa Aparna looks at Benaiah. "Thank you young man. It is touching to have just met me but care for my safety and well being. Not to worry, we live, we die, we are reborn. And I have contingencies."

The Doctor claps his hands and a pile of book levitates off a chair and is placed back on the book case. You are worldly enough to know he has an Unseen Servant

"Before we depart, I have some matters to attend to here, and some arrangements to make. In a few days I would be be ready. In the meantime, you should equip yourselves for the journey. I could not give you advice for any material encounters that we have, but you should prepare for the rough mountain environment. It is bitterly cold, and windy, and the terrain is unforgivable. Maybe a pack animal or two to carry supplies. Is this agreeable?" Assuming it is, feel free to make your goodbyes and allow me to choo-choo you to your next stop. Also hand waving any equipment you need under 100 gp. I am not wasting time accounting for it, nor should you. Please feel free to add it to your HL, items like rope, pinions, cold weather gear, ect.

"We are heading on an expedition! Thank you very much for the information... it seems as though you have more than a passing interest in what we're doing though. Would you like to ask something of us?"

The Doctor looks up at Arimar with his milky white eyes. "Why yes. It appears that I am towards the end of this life, and being a scholar of old Thassilonia, I would like to see Hollow Mountain with my own eyes. Would you mind terribly if I accompanied you? I would stay out of your way, unless you were in desperate need of assistance, and I can get you there a bit quicker with my magics. I seem to know quite a few spells." the man looks expectantly at you.
