I was going to say something similar.....Im checking this game every day and am always excited to see that little (1) next to it, so I would like to see it continue also. If its possible to increase the pace then great, if not I'll still be here...........

Seeing the predicament that Talon is in, Delkaneth realizes that identifying the creature is far less important than stopping it. While the bow is far from his favored weapon he knows he has to act fast and hope his luck holds.

Delkaneth is relieved as the group turns west: he is quite tired of fighting bugs and would much rather explore the strange wonders of this place. His eyes go wide as they enter the grotto. Finally, signs of the historical nature of the place instead of plain hallways that could have been anywhere in Golarian!

He looks to the statue, looking for clues to confirm his assumption that it is Alaznist. Runelord of Wrath.....we must be getting close.....
Know History: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9

So caught up in the history of the place the explorer is startled by the attack from above. Lucky it wasn't aimed at me - it totally would have had me! "Greeeeeaaaat, more bugs!"

with the ceiling that high the beast MIGHT be in throwing range...if it is, Del will throw an axe at it. If its too far, then move action to draw his shortbow and standard action to shoot. Either way, a use of luck.

Somewhat surprised by the uneventful rest deep in the bowels of the dungeon, Delkaneth prepares himself for another day of crawling through web-choked hallways. He nods at the wisdom of Raina's advice and fills a skin with the enchanted water.

"Ready as I'll ever be. Which way shall we start?"

Delkaneth looks warily at each of the rooms two exits before nodding. "I like the idea too. I just wonder how many other nasties that live down here know about this pool and use it?" He looks down at the ground then back at Talon. "Any signs that this is a high traffic place?"

Not even waiting for the ranger's reply, Delkaneth goes over to the pool and fills his waterskin with just enough for a quick drink. Raising the skin in a mock toast, he drinks the restorative waters......

Delkaneth curses under his breath in Infernal. "Pool is definitely enchanted. Not the type of magic that might hypnotize but could open a pit or attract things to it. Certainly interesting."

His curiosity starts to get the better of him and he approaches the edge of the pool. Fighting the urge to look into the vortex, he pulls a copper out of his pouch and flips it into the center of the pool.

well, we all know what curiosity did to the cat...........

Delkaneth takes only a glance at the pool before pointedly keeping his eyes averted. "Looks way too nice normal. I read an old journal once, the explorer found a pool that hypnotized anyone that looked into it........"

"OK, he was writing it in a hospital for the incurably insane, but that doesn't make it a bad safety tip......"

The treasure hunter smiles at himself, wondering if the constant exposure to spider venom is starting to make him a little paranoid.

Cast Detect Magic then look toward but not into the pool. if no aura is detected then, look up above the pool. If still nothing start moving closer to the pool to look inside.

Hearing Raina's comment, Delkaneth makes his way over to the cell door, reaching into his belt pouch and pulling out a set of lockpicking tools they had picked up from the Tower Girls.

He squats down in front of the lock and starts working as if to open it. After but a second he turns his head away from the door to face the magi before giving a sharp twist of his wrist. The motion causes a snapping noise. Still not breaking eye contact with Raina he holds the tool up for her to see, showing her that the pick has broken off in the lock.

"Sometimes engineering is more art than skill." With a wink at the elf Delkaneth tosses the broken tool to the floor and walks across the room to check out the other cell.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15 to check out the non-occupied cell

Delkaneth cautiously descends the staircase and catches sight of the creature as it bursts into action. The treasure hunter peers at it through the bars trying to figure out exactly what it is.

Knowledge to identify: 1d20 ⇒ 6 that's a 8 Local, 13 Dungeoneering or Arcana, 12 Planes and Religion

"If it keeps up that racket it's going to bring every creature in the place down on our heads!"

Move 5-10' along that cell's north wall, just enough to be out of the thing's sight behind the wall, and keep watch for any nasties approaching from that way. He will not move further than the eastern edge of the 2 cells.....just watching for the moment.

"Diabolus enim hypocritæ adultery!" Slipping back into the habits of his youth in Westcrown the wounded Delkaneth begins swearing in the tiefling tongue. Doing his best to channel that anger into effective strikes he swings both axes yet again trying to change his luck with little success.

Delkaneth feels his limbs weaken as the spider's venom starts to grab hold. No more quips this time, doing his best to shake it off as best he can, he unleashes another two blows at the spider. He manages to catch a glancing blow with one of his axes but the other fails to cut through the creature's carapace.

Looks like I missed making another save attempt, so...

Raina's healing energies wash over him and close the few minor wounds Delkaneth received during the battle (back up to full). He also feels the strength returning to his limbs (successful fort save) so nods his thanks to Raina. He bends down to retrieve his dropped weapons.

"Think I've had enough spiders for the moment. Maybe we head this way instead?"

Knowing they will have to clear the southern hallway eventually Delkaneth instead points toward the west and the distinct lack of webbing. He peers into the darkness as he begins creeping down the hall.

The spider is obviously suffering from its wounds: Delkaneth barely needed to dodge that last bite. Not willing to give it another chance he strikes out at it with both axes.

Instantly Delkaneth feels the venom leeching away his strength. Realizing there is little he can do about it at the moment he forces his arms to swing again trying to slay the spider, hoping his luck holds.

Delkaneth drops the bow on top of the gathering pile of weapons at his feet. "So much for Plan B."

Grabbing the last two axes from his belt the young chelaxian strikes at the same spider as well.

"I see trouble. Creepy crawly trouble.". Delkaneth glances down the hallway then back down at his axes. "Plan b."

He drops the axes to the floor and with a single motion unslungs the short bow from his shoulder. Quickly fitting arrow to string he takes a shot at the closest spider.

+1 to hit and damage if within 30', but I wouldn't wait til theyre that close if I've got a shot before that.

Delkaneth mumbles a few Infernal curses under his breath. More bugs. He peers into the darkness toward the south.

"We're looking for a pet called 'clicky legs', looks like we're going that way." With a thought he sends his floating lights 20 feet down the southern corridor to better see whats ahead of them.

Satisfied that Talon has the right of it, Delkaneth resumes his position on point as the group leaves the webbed passage behind them.

Expecting things in this uncharted section to be a little less 'disturbed' than the upper levels, so cast Detect Magic every few minutes as well to scan the area for anything interesting.

Hoping he is not giving up the advantage of surprise, Delkaneth raises his weapons not in a threatening manner but in a display of not using them. "We are the heroes chief called for, looking to find ClickyLegs. We are only passing through to the stairs."

"Set a trap? Them?" Delkaneth shakes his head incredulously. "Send us someplace to face a thing they can't handle, maybe, but we're a bit more capable than they are, right? And we haven't found what we're looking for yet so we have to go deeper anyway....."

With a nod to Talon the young chelaxian heads back the way they came (Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25 to notice the western secret door in room B32, don't think we've seen that yet?, then back through the narrow hallway to the secret door they passed through to get here.

Now at the top of the steps (B34), Delkaneth quickly casts a spell that will allow him to stay in touch with the others then movesf about 30 feet ahead of them as he begins carefully creeping down the stairs, wary for traps as he goes.

Delkaneth mentally goes over the map in his head before whispering to his companions. "We can probably take them but it sounds like we're heading in that direction anyway."

Delkaneth steps aside, Talon's words clearly resonating with the leader of the mites. He is curious if the bracer is part of a magical set but knows casting a detection spell will disrupt the negotiations.

He instead stares at the chief's head, imagining a quality diamond of that size.

Bending to retrieve his two axes, Delkaneth nods his agreement to Raina and takes point. He follows the mites, making sure to keep them in sight, while carefully looking out for surprises along the way.

As hammers fly and bounce everywhere, Delkaneth's instincts take over and he lashes out with some missiles of his own. He hates to throw his best axe but since that is what is in his hand he lets it fly without hesitation. As the two weapons leave his hands, each heading for different targets, he knows they are not his bet throws. Now with no weapon in either hand the young treasure hunter has to trust in his luck and hope they were good enough.

Delkaneth raises his hand in a sharp stop motion to the others. He cocks his head to the side as he tries to zero in on the source of the sound.

Checking that his gear is secure so as not to make too much noise, he begins creeping along the right wall of the passage. He looks back over his shoulder to signal Shadow to take the left.......before remembering that she is probably back at the boat by now. I've always worked better alone anyway.

Turning back to the business at hand he begins to slowly move down tha hallway toward the source of the noise.

Will stop advancing if/when I can see anything to give me a better idea of whats waiting for us, which with that roll may very well be never.

With nothing of interest in the web beyond the news that they are not the first group to enter these catacombs, Delkaneth examines the door Talon discovered to ensure it isn't trapped and determine how to open it.

Delkaneth keeps watch over the newly arrived elf as she checks the nest, then moves up to Talon to examine the newly discovered door.

As the groups initial barrage of attacks does little to deter the creature Delkaneth starts to get concerned. The target of their quest is still out of reach and this place's enlarged vermin were determined to keep it that way. Undeterred he presses the attack, trusting his luck to get him and his companions through this battle and closer to their goal.

Gods, pay attention!

Yet again the young treasure hunter is last to react as the spider falls on the group. Chastising himself with muttered curses in Infernal, he steps up to Talon's position and also tries to strike it without hitting the man or getting in the way of his spinning sword.

Finding an opening between the embattled Kelgeah and the swinging blade of Talon the young treasure hunter aims a swing of his own at the giant insect. The melee is a little too cramped and he is unable to time his attack properly, resulting in a complete miss.

At Talon's directive Delkaneth moves ahead to the stairs, his head continuing to turn from side to side as he tries to take in all the sites in this ancient catacomb. Yet again he the sights distract him from acting quickly and the giant ant attacks first. Seeing it lash out at Shadow right next to him, he quickly steps up and strikes at it.
