About Delfina Black

Heritage:
Long ago, there were powerful, evil hags who banded together to form a terrifying coven. An ash hag, a green hag, and a blood hag joined their powers together in an effort to summon something truly powerful, though to this day no one knows what they were trying to bring about. They realized, however, that they themselves were not strong enough to make it happen. They would need to create new hags. The three went out into the world in disguise, found the most powerful adventurers they could find, and created their offspring before retreating... and waiting.

---Origin---

Growing up, she was hardly an adventurer. Rather shy, she spent most of her early days only with her father, a powerful ranger. Though he had no idea the lineage of his daughter, as even though one of her eyes was green, the other was blue, so the difference only showed under just the right lighting. He had retired once she was born and her mother had left them, so they were living in a small town. She grew up simple and quiet, though always dreamed of moving to one of the larger cities, to the point where, on her eighteenth birthday, she was packing up and moving out. After a heartfelt goodbye with her father, she opened the door-to find her mother., Bella.

She had apparently been looking for her for quite some time, and wanted to take her on a journey, one to open her eyes, claiming she was special. Delfina's father, for the first time, noticed something was off about the mother of his child, though couldn't quite put his finger on what it was. He cautioned her not to go with her, but Delfina had always felt like there was something missing from her life, which is why she was moving out, to try to find that missing part of her. She took her belongings and went with her. Of course, instead of taking her to her homeland to learn about the other side of her family, she found herself in a cottage, trapped with two other young women her age.

The hags began their ritual, bringing each of the three around a large cauldron in the center of what looked like a summoning circle and began to chant. Each of the changelings struggled against the ritual, though it seemed they were needed as part of a sacrifice to whatever being they were bringing to this world. Now, the other two had given up, and one by one found their throats being slit, adding their blood to the mixture, each by their own mother. this made the potion hiss, and what looked like some sort of dark portal appeared over it, growing stronger with each changeling's end. Delfina looked into it, and immediately wished she hadn't, as she saw the most terrifying set of eyes she'd ever seen, eyes that flooded her mind with images, instilling the purest of terrors in her. It was as Bella rounded on her that Delfina finally lept into action, having used her claw-like nails to cut through her bindings. Desperate, she did the only thing she could think to-jump up and push on the cauldron.

She burned her left shoulder pretty badly, but managed to push the boiling pot on it's side, spilling the contents onto the other two hags, as well as onto the circle itself. With the spell having failed in that moment, the circle burst with some form of unholy purple and green fire which, despite their resistances, burned all three hags rather badly, including Bella. Dropping her disguise, Delfina saw her mother in all her hideousness, making her scream-at which point an arrow stuck into Bella's chest. Looking over her shoulder, she saw her father running in, drawing another arrow for his bow. Yelling for her to run, he took another shot, this time at one of the other burning hags, before tackling Bella. She hesitated, wanting to help, but not knowing what to do, she listened, and she ran. Just as she got away from the cottage, she turned back to find it in flames-and then it collapsed.

Delfina waited there as the cottage burned, crying, but not desperately. Not as someone who was in despair. But someone in mourning. She waited, far longer than she should've, for her father to come out, or for one of the hags to rear her ugly head. After waiting till the sun came up, she finally stood up, walking away, towards the otwn maybe, or just into the woods, as she truly didn't know where to go. She was distracted by the sounds of screams, within her head, screams she couldn't unhear. Eventually, she collapsed on the side of the road, and there she lay.

---Post-Event and Meeting the Professor---

When she came to, she wasn't entirely sure where she was, but it certainly wasn't the side of road. It was in a bed. She got up to see who had found her, though the place was empty. It was a small cottage, and while the house was empty, it wasn't undisturbed. The place was a mess, broken plates and glass everywhere. As she went downstairs, looking around, she saw an odd sight-the shed in the back seemed to be covered with things like gardening tools, chairs, and a table. Going over, she knocked on the door. Inside, however, were terrified people-the same that had picked her up from the side of the road. They refused to come out and talk to her, demanding instead that she leave, blaming her for what had happened, threatening her that if she didnt leave, they'd be forced to hurt her. Terrified, she fled.

Eventually she found herself in the nearby town and got herself a room. She splashed some water on her face, looking into the mirror-and dark eyes looked back at her. Screaming and stumbling back, the mirror shattered on it's own. That was when she knew something was wrong. Something on the other side... touched her. And it seemed to have left it's mark. Once she was sure she wasn't going to freak out again, she asked around town for help with her problem, though made sure not to bring to much attention to herself, or mention that it was her affliction. She studied every book she could find, leafing through quite a few tomes while staying away from people, then changing towns once she had lost ehr control, leaving her victims alive, though after a while people began to fear a new affliction in the region-bloodweeping. Her fault. She wasn't aware furing her blackouts, though once she heard tales of bloodweeping reaching the area, she knew it was time to move on. Eventually, she tracked down the one person she was told could help her. Professor Lorrimor.

He helped her out, testing her in a variety of ways, very curious about her and what she could do. And what she could do was apparently very powerful, as she revealed this apparent darkness within her. Something on the other side of that rift had reached out, touched her, and left it's mark-and she seemed to have powers from it. But more than that, she had a darkness within her. A darkness the two of them set out to control. When he told her that, she was confused. It seemed like he knew more, though she felt it wasn't best to press for more intormation. Not yet anyway. Instead, they got down to business. They worked tirelessly, through meditation and mental exercises, taught her to supress her dark self, reign it in, and bring it out upon her command, when she chooses. She was even able to retain her memories upon entering her dark self. A few times, her slight mistrust of him led her to his private workspace, where she would try and fiddle with anything magical or strange she could find, though usually made more of a mess than found something helpful. But ultimately, they got to the point where she felt she was in complete control-unless she didnt want to be. Satisfied, she thanked the professor, and made her way out into the world, changed for the better.

Though she wouldnt get far. After barely a month of traveling and meditation, keeping herself in check, she recieved word-the Professor had passed, and she was in the will. While shocked, she managed to keep control of herself, and started making her way back, hoping to arrive in time for the funeral. She wasn't sure why she was drawn there so strongly, deciding to continue on even after she realized she may arrive too late. She still wanted to pay her respects, though felt there was something... more.... drawing her back.

---Personality---

In terms of her personality, all that she went through left her somewhat scarred and paranoid, but since regaining her control, she's lightened up quite a bit. She's sweet, kind, caring, and quite charismatic the more she breaks out of her shell, though can be a little shy at first. Still, she's one of the smartest people you'll meet, and has realized that she can be quite convincing, having grown good at it during her time on the run. Still, there's a certain... intensity to her, one that most people don't seem to understand, side to her she's gained from controlling that darkness.
