About Deirdre Harlowe

Name: Deirdre Harlowe
Template: Changeling
Musts: Vulnerability to Cold Iron /Faerie Pacts
High Concept: Banshee Bartender
Trouble: Knows Too Much to be a Free Agent

Phase One: Background
Aspect: Haunted by My Mother's Ghost.

Spoiler:
Deirdre was a classic changeling- switched at birth for a normal baby in the hospital when her mother tried to hide her from the Winter Court. Her new parents had no idea what they were getting into. It took years before Deirdre understood that her friend who no one could see was the ghost of her real mother who had been killed months after hiding her infant daughter. By then her unwitting adoptive parents had another daughter who was nothing like her older creepy sister. With her distant home life and the ghost of her mother urging her to run, Dee ran away for the first time at 15. By 17 her parents let her go.

Phase Two: Rising Conflict
Aspect: Ran with a Bad Crowd

Spoiler:
As a runaway teen Dee fell in with a group of kids who lived in a series of flop houses around Toronto. She learned how to get by when drugs and violence were a part of everyday life and money was whatever could be spare changed on the streets. In the end, it was the dreams that brought this chapter of her life to a close. For days on end, she woke from dreams of running from a pack of wild dogs. The dream where she saw herself sleeping in the flop house with hounds baying outside was the final straw. It ended with a lean figure stepping through a pool of shadow into the room, while the door was broken down in the front room. Dee was so disturbed that she begged the others to leave the flat that day, but everyone insisted she was getting worked up about nothing. It was only a dream. Deirdre was drinking in a nearby park that night when she first heard the hounds in real life. Once the screams started and transformed into the howling of dogs, she stood outside frozen between her desire to help and pure terror. In the end she did what she knew best. She ran.
Part of the idea here is that some of the kids from the flop house have been transformed into hounds to add to the pack.

Phase Three: The Story
Aspect: Lead Singer for Blood of the Witch
Guest Starring: Pernilla Tharaldson, Divine Shadow

Spoiler:
It wasn't long after that that Deirdre found herself in a bar nursing an afternoon beer when the guy at the end of the bar introduced himself. After a little small talk he offered to hook her up with a job at a metal bar he ran downtown and a temporary place to stay in a studio above the bar. She took him up on it and her life transitioned into a level of stability she hadn't seen since those early years in her parents home. She started seeing the guy, Stephan, and he helped her out so much, but she can't shake the feeling that he's too good to be true. At the bar Deirdre and a coworker started playing music together and eventually formed a doom metal group. Their first show ended in violence when a fight broke out in the crowd, but at least there was a least a buzz. When they played again a month later, a maniac with a box cutter slashed several people in the crowd before the bouncers were able to subdue him. During the 5th show, things boiled over in the crowd when an altercation ended in gunfire. At least that's how it was remembered afterward when by the people who ran screaming from the room. Deirdre and precious few others remember seeing thug expand into his troll form and his friend hunch over into his true redcap form. Dee was grazed by one of the shots and so shocked that she wasn't able to react until a woman in the crowd grabbed a mic stand and swung it like a sledgehammer at the troll's head. That's when Deirde screamed like she never had in all her life, unleashing pent up rage and fear in a blast that nearly shredded the redcap. Something changed then and the redcap turned and ran for its life. Meanwhile Pernilla's constant punishment managed to drive the troll off and she helped get Dee to the hospital where they talked about what had just happened and filled each other in on other encounters with the supernatural in Toronto.

Phase Four: Whose Path Have you Crossed?
Aspect: Guided by Fragments of Dreams
Whose Story? Danny Kaye (Ragadolf), Who else? Aximeus (Valegrim)

Spoiler:
Danny has always had unusual luck, Both good and bad. But when he attracts the attention of twin oriental beauties, it seems his luck has finally changed! But his new girlfriends are members of a Triad family, and he will need all of his silver-tongued skill when meeting their parents! But he'll need the help of his new friends to survive an assault by Faerie creatures!

Guest Star-Aximeus-
Hanging out in a back alley with some locals playing checkers and drinking beer, a microwar erupted in the alley. Strange fairy creatures in a mob chasing some humans; with a bellow of rage and an ancient battlecry, Aximeus summoned courage into the locals to fight for their alley and they join the fight.

Guest Star- Dierdre Harlowe
Deirdre knew something was wrong that night, but couldn't put her finger on it other than the strange tension she felt. When she stepped off the metro something about the two guys behind her (one quite short, the other very tall and broad) set her alarm bells ringing. They headed for the same exit and she picked up her pace. On the street, she tried to lose them in the crowd, but whenever she looked there they were just far enough back to keep pace. When she cut into Chinatown one of them called out, "Enough with the running. You're coming with us." When he spoke Deirdre fell into a peculiar sense of deja vu. She had dreamed all of this before. Suddenly she knew exactly where she needed to be and broke into a run cutting through Chinatown back alleys. At each intersection, she took the path she had dreamed before while the numbers of her pursuers grew. When she careened into the blonde guy walking a couple of Chinese girls, she knew it was real. She had seen him in the dream and told him so, "I know you Danny Kaye- or well... I will. But we have to run." When the motley gang of pursuers rounded the corner and revealed themselves as slavering redcaps, an ogre, and some kind of half-man half-snake it sort of drove home the point in the way that doesn't require a lot of immediate explanation. Literally around the next corner Deirdre ran into Aximeus playing checkers with the Chinese kitchen staff of a dumpling house. And that's when the tables turned...
