A great module

5/5

I6 has probably been rewritten, released and reimagined more than any other module. It is a great story that makes vampires scary again, and provides the PCs with a great opponent. Also, this module spawned the entire Ravenloft setting. Not to shabby for a 32 page module!

The scan is quite good - I have read others complain about scanning quality, but I was happy with this module, and it printed out just fine.

Worst. Scan. Ever.

1/5

I own the paper copy of this gazetteer, but bought it to complete my digital (more portable) set. The content is great - a new halfling class that goes to level 36, ideas for a campaign, lots of detail and good maps. It's even written by Ed Greenwood!

Unfortunately, the scan is horrible, the pages are very crooked, and when I view the PDF it is blue (selected for copy and paste) and nothing I do with the Adobe Reader can fix this.

So, in short, this is the worst scan I have ever bought. I still suggest buying these fun old PDFs from Paizo, just not this one!

A great module

4/5

First, the negative: I own a paper copy of this module as well, and when comparing the scan of the map which is printed on the inside of the cover, I found that details near the crease were missing from the scan, including at least one cave entrance. This will make running the module a bit harder.

On the plus side, this is a classic module and the scan is otherwise very well done. Unlike some other modules, the keep and the caves could be used as the basis for a campaign as well as a single adventure.

A "silver anniversary" release was put out later on, and the PDF is available from this website (I bought it as well). The newer release has nice colouring and more detail, but somehow feels like a lesser document anyway. It is interesting to compare the two, but if you are picking just one, pick this one.

Great Buy

This document was well-scanned, is a fun read, and contains everything you could want to run a campaign in a region on the edge of the wilderness. I highly recommend it.

Pro and Con

4/5

Pro: a fine, complete scan of the first B-series module

Con: not much of a module, leaves you to fill in the treasure and encounters for the rooms as a learning exercise (tables are provided); for those looking for complete, ready to use modules, and aren't completionists like me, jump to B2, which is a great starting module

A great scan. I was surprised to find the X1 module included, as it was in the original box set. Thanks for another great download, Paizo.

ah, nostalgia

4/5

Easily my favourite D&D supplement of all-time. It is nice to see that this and all the others are available electronically - I plan to buy them all over time.

The scans are of good quality, though not perfect. The only drawback is that the map is challenging to read the map as presented.

I suggest this to anyone who likes magic-users and D&D.
