And the amount of critters in the 1E Monster Manual that have save or die poison attacks is quite high.
I love Pathfinder 1E, but an adventure would have to be very special at this point for me to be interested in buying. My shelf (and virtual shelf) is full of Pathfinder 1E adventures - many I will never have time to get to playing.
So...why do a whole new game instead of, say, a "Book of Experimental Might"-like book for Pathfinder 1E?
I guess what I'm wondering is, from a design standpoint, what perceived PF1 problems are you trying to solve? (The initial post is rather vague.)

Welp, I got everything I wanted.
UNLESS...you can add a stretch goal where Greg runs the entire adventure for my group. On our schedule. In person.
And brings snacks.
(You'll need to take care of COVID-19 too.)

As I said in the other thread: Yay! (I mean, you probably had it planned originally anyway, but yay!)
Now, I watched the interview video, so what kind of stretch goal would it take to get a pdf of Greg's outlines? :) :)

You can see yourself in the totals for each section.
Currently - Print ($100)
PF1 - 69
PF2 - 47
5E - 64
Digital ($50)
PF1 - 26
PF2 - 24
5E - 33
Total (above tiers only)
PF1 - 95
PF2 - 71
5E - 97
These are the $50 and $100 tiers only. Also, these numbers do not include those who may eventually add a second (or third) system in backerkit.

I'm glad to see this is chugging along nicely.

I'm guessing you've already mapped out the stretch goals, but what I'd like to see, if possible, are the following:
1. Player maps (without secret doors, etc.) that can be handed out;
2. Player visual handouts (such as illustrated rooms - especially ones that are odd-shaped or on a grand scale); and
3. A separate file that has all the maps in one place (unless this is already an appendix in a part of the main book).
Thanks for considering.

I think this will be an excellent barometer of the interest in 3pp PF2 products, and of course, to see how many of us PF1 folks are still around. :)

I backed it.
No disrespect to the writers, but I'm disappointed that it wasn't more Vaughan-heavy in the writing department, but I suppose with him off probably playing doctor somewhere it is what it is. :)
He has such a great talent for this stuff.

And the first chapter of the Aegis of Empires Adventure Path, The Book in the Old House is finished in layout for PF1 and 5E and is about to start layout for PF2! MEGA excited for Aegis!! Right now I'm expecting a Kickstarter launch in May. We'll see how it goes. Still looking at May for this Kickstarter?

IMO they should release a deluxe version only after the errata is taken care of. Be drastically harder to sell at that point. Personally I don't mind having an out of date book. I tend to only ever update it if there are majorly broken elements that were errated out. Hardly. The D&D 3.5 deluxe books came out long after the original release and the errata was cleaned up nicely, and it was a perfect time to resell them to those whose original books may have been a bit beat up by that point.

I had such a negative emotional reaction to 4e that if elements of it are in P2 (such that it *looks* like 4E in any significant way), P2 is a non-starter for me. Having multiple 4E designers (talented though they may be) work on P2 is concerning for me, and seeing evidence of 4E-like mechanics in the playtest documents (on an admittedly brief glance), was a huge turn-off.
If the text comparison of 4E to P2 upthread is accurate, I won't be able to stomach P2.
I hope you have as much fun with it as I did!

Honestly, it doesn't matter. I've had the "status" since the beginning, but there is no tangible benefit at all.

Well, I'll be losing my status after the last Tyrant's grasp. P2 is where I get off the train.
Hello!
Please cancel my Adventure Path subscription *after* Tyrant's Grasp #6 (no P2 please)
Please cancel my Campaign Setting Subscription *after* Druma (no P2 please)
Please cancel the following subscriptions immediately:
Pathfinder Maps
Pathfinder Modules
Pathfinder Pawns
Pathfinder Player Companion
Pathfinder Roleplaying Game
Thank you!

Oh, and the fiction lines, which died. The fiction line died because it didn't sell. So, if Paizo made any mistake here, is that they invested in the line despite the fact that at the end of the day, everybody wants fiction but nobody buys it. Yes, but in fairness, between Planet Stories and the Tales line, they *did* have over 70 novels, so after reflecting on it, perhaps it was successful enough.

Is there going to be a Tyrant's Grasp pawn collection? I don't see one on the schedule....

When we asked if something like Pathfinder Advantage would be available for Starfinder, we were assured that yes, there would be something very similar. And then they announced Paizo Advantage for superscribers, and it was actually very different, because you had to subscribe to everything. The excuse given then was that it was because the AP was every other month, but they didn't change it when the AP went to monthly.
And now I'm very concerned the same nonsense is going to happen here, of requiring all kinds of expensive subscriptions I don't want to get the discount.
I didn't realize they did this for Starfinder.
It will be interesting to see what they do. Superscriber benefits with Pathfinder don't exist (beyond a forum tag), which to me has always been a missed opportunity (and why I stopped being one).

Alenvire wrote: Is it just me that personally does not care for the Eratta's? I like that sometimes things are not very well balanced. For example the summoner Eidolon was really buff (compared to unchained)but it was rarely played by my players. I never saw a problem with it. Same thing with stuff like the trait ancestral weapon. I always found that erratta's were excessive and took the shine off stuff and almost always made it less then useful. In other words I liked that there was the random really strong stuff. It's not like every character took ancestral weapon because of it.
I know this is off topic, and there should always be Errattas and Faqs to fix problems and clarify subjects. I just wish there was not so much heavy handed balancing.
I agree with you in theory, but in practice, it can be a problem if the imbalance is too great. What has ended up happening in my games with an imbalanced PC (let's call him "Bob"), is an imbalance that is too great tends to feature the PC the imbalance favors and diminishes the enjoyment of the game for those who play PCs that are less powerful. It's one thing if the power curve shifts over time (whereas, say, a spellcaster is weak for part of the campaign, but dominates at the end), but if a PC is overly powerful from start to finish, other PCs may feel like they are not needed. "Why bother engaging if every encounter becomes the Bob show?"

Not sure I would want to purchase a deluxe version that will likely be loaded with errata.
Maybe if it's reprinted later...

Yeah, downloading from Paizo is excruciating compared to downloading from DTRPG (or Humble Bundle, or pretty much anywhere else).

I remember seeing Something last year about an adventure path in the Lost Land but, if I remember corectly, it was to be done by another compagny rather than FGG. It was realy Something that interested me but never heard about it since then.
Someone know about it and can point me in the right direction?
Thanks! I believe you're probably thinking of the AP that Greg Vaughan is working on. That will be set in the Lost Lands but not published through FGG. My understanding is that it is still being written at this point in time. Yes, Legendary Games is doing an AP in the Lost Lands.
My understanding is that Greg V is no longer with FGG, but I might have bad info?

Looking forward to Greg V's last FGG Pathfinder contribution.
For PF, Lost Lands (FGG) and Oathbound (Bastion Press/Epidemic Books).
Both are full of adventure opportunity.
However, my all-time favorite 3PP is the Wilderlands using the Wilderlands Box set from Necromancer Games (for D&D 3.5).
How is this a "perfect" accessory? What is the definition of "perfect" in this context?
(Because I don't think it means what you think it means. :) )

What I suspect will actually happen is that Paizo will try PF2 for a year and then start rolling out "Pathfinder Classic".
Oh, I think PF2 will be strong out of the gate, even if the game isn't great. It took D&D 4E 4 years before WotC gave up on it. Granted Pathfinder isn't as big as D&D by any means, but it's big enough that it likely can't turn that quickly unless PF2 is an epic failure out of the gate - which it almost certainly won't be as Pathfinder has acquired many fans over the last decade that would likely give it a shot (or purchase) sight unseen.

I did not buy the New Paths Compendium before, but really glad I picked it up as part of this sale. Some nicely done stuff in there.

Your wish is my command!
Check out the latest on the Legendary Games blog!
But in shorthand answers:
1. Print and PDF
2. Page count: LOTS
3. Levels: ALL OF THEM
(Seriously, we won't have precise answers to the above until layout is done, but it'll go from first until at least the high teens level-wise, and word count is well over 200,000 already and climbing, so it'll be at minimum 400 pages altogether, maybe much more.) Sweet! Now if FGG would get around to actually publishing the Lost Lands Campaign Setting, awesomeness would be upon us.

Well, if the playtest was the final game they might be in trouble, but as stated earlier in the thread, we just can't judge until the final version is out.
Not that they would say otherwise, but if the playtest truly has been as informative and helpful as staffers have indicated, then maybe there's hope.
(Although, I have not been interested in the PF2 direction at all so far.)
Thanks for letting us know!

Anguish wrote: DaveMage wrote: There's enough PF1 out there for a lifetime if needed. See, that's both true and false, and a problem.
On the one hand, the way you mean it, it's true, and that's the problem. There's lots of material out there, and that impacts sales of new product. It's the same problem the PC, laptop, tablet, and smart-phone markets have right now... most of the people who want one have one that's good enough. Well, Paizo can't just fire their staff and declare "there's enough Pathfinder".
On the other hand, it's false because lots of the material (adventures) is inapplicable. I'm involved with several PF groups, and there's a lot of material that we "can't" use because a couple guys ran it in yet-another-group, or "won't" use because we don't really care about the topics. Next August, we will have to start running material we want to run less and less and less, moving down the pile, skipping things that have been done before. I know, first world problems. None of us have time for home-brew.
Well, there will be 22 Paizo adventure paths (for PF1) + the Emerald Spire Superdungeon as well as 30+ modules from Paizo. From 3PPs, there are the following epic (10+ level-spanning) adventures (just to name a few):
Adventure-a-Week:
Rise of the Drow
Hammerdog Games:
The Grande Temple of Jing (megadungeon)
Frog God Games:
The Blight
The Northlands Saga
Rappan Athuk
Slumbering Tsar
Obviously YMMV, but to go through all of these would likely take over 50 years for my group. Of course, if you play in multiple groups, there will be overlap, but this is just a small sample from 3 third-party publishers.

There's enough PF1 out there for a lifetime if needed.
All this said, though, if the poll has similar results *after* PF2 is out, then there's a problem for Paizo. Right now PF2 is not a complete game, so we just can't judge.
