The Aegis of Empires Adventure Path launches tomorrow May 6 on Kickstarter!

This killer fantasy-horror AP set in the incredibly detailed Lost Lands Setting (which project lead Greg Vaughan spent nearly a decade perfecting with the classic adventures of Necromancer Games and Frog God Games) takes your heroes across the Kingdoms of Foere, Reme, and beyond to uncover the clues of an ancient mystery, a lost prince, an expedition to the ends of the earth, and a silent apocalypse stealthily creeping to overwhelm the land, from the start of their careers up to 17th level!

This spectacular 600-page saga from the powerful pens of Alistair J. Rigg, Jeff Swank, Matt Goodall, Steve Helt, Tom Knauss, Anthony Pryor, and Greg Vaughan is coming your way for Pathfinder Second Edition, Pathfinder RPG (1st Ed), and DnD 5E! Get it for your favorite system, or for all three! Check it out on launch day and prepare for a truly Legendary campaign!

I'll be very interested to see the response to this on the Pathfinder Second Edition side in particular, as the first big Kickstarter project for that system and by a company that's work directly with Paizo on a big PF2E adventure path project already with the Kingmaker Anniversary Edition.

PF2 fans, check it out!

I backed it.

No disrespect to the writers, but I'm disappointed that it wasn't more Vaughan-heavy in the writing department, but I suppose with him off probably playing doctor somewhere it is what it is. :)

He has such a great talent for this stuff.

While each adventure had its own lead author, it's safe to say that with one exception he probably wrote about 1/3 or more of the final text in each adventure during his development cycle.

We were working from Greg's very meticulous outline, so it certainly has his 'feel' to it. Greg also went through my adventure (and all the others I assume) in development and added a heap of Lost Lands lore that only an expert of the setting would know. Lastly I did try to pen a 'Vaughan' style adventure with a detailed lead in culminating in a savage and desperate final battle at the end.

Oh yeah, here we go! I had a picture of Greg V. up at all times as I wrote my adventure as my muse... hmmm, is that too creepy?

I've spent a ton of my quarantime converting these adventures to 2e. I'm really excited for people to see them (and to get to run them myself!).

This is shaping up to be awesome.

Backed for PF2 (within the first hour or so, I'm just lazy about posting here). Really can't wait to see this, and I hope the 2E uptake is as good as it deserves to be.

It's been an interesting challenge converting to PF2 due to the new edition just getting underway relative to PF1, but I think that's also given us quite a lot of freedom in some areas, as well. Excited about this and to see how PF2 fans react when they get hold of it.

I had a similar thought coordinating the Kingmaker project. We had a lot of material, sure, but a ton of new stuff we were building as we went and could make in some very interesting ways.

The conversion's been really fun to work on. You can really focus on the part of monsters that make them fun. Same with NPCs, for that matter. That one guy who does that thing that I can't really say anything more about ... I'm really excited about that.

So this means the PF2 edition is going to be the best version right? We're all friends here so you can tell us.

I think the BEST solution is to back the project for ALL THREE versions! That's the only way you can tell for sure which one is best! :)

Hi, and congratulations on what promises to be a successful Kickstarter!

I am already a backer, but I was wondering if you had any plan to write a short guide with advice about transposing Aegis of Empire to Golarion, e.g. suggestions on towns/places in Golarion that could be used as settings for the adventures, on how to replace the deities with those of Golarion, and so on?

All of the proper names and locations in Golarion are Paizo's own IP and cannot be directly referenced in 3rd-party products (unless they're also the name of a real-world entity like Lamashtu or Asmodeus). Since we can't officially mention them, we likely wouldn't do an official guide like that, though I suppose the area behind the Wizard Wall could be put somewhere in Casmaron, so anywhere along the eastern frontier areas of Avistan could work. Eastern Taldor, Galt, the far edges of the River Kingdoms, and that kind of area seem like the most logical place.

Right. I was mostly thinking about an informal/unofficial blog post or maybe a message here on the forums once the books are published, but thank you for your answer!

Happy to help.

Given the size of the cities in the Lost Lands, I think probably NE Taldor would be the place I would put it. These aren't just little podunk nowhere towns the PCs visit, so you want somewhere with enough population to support it, and Taldor's place as a decayed colonial empire also provides ample in-world reason why you'd have these various successor states like Foere and Reme carrying on with a sense of long history but breaking up into their own independent countries.

Greg is all up in this whole thing! Even though each adventure has its own author, there is also a METRIC TON of added text from Greg tying it all together and soaking it thoroughly in world lore and history!

You get it for whatever game system(s) you back for the main book, so a PF2 version will definitely exist.

ALL THREE!

As Chemlak indicated, whatever version you back, you'll get that version of the bonus adventures (or multiple versions, if you get multiple versions of the AP).
