If your foreword/flavor text and the full heritage content are reliant on each other, and cannot stand alone, then that is a violation of one of our guidelines. They should be in the same article. This means that you will have some hard choices to make to bring the word count down to around 1500 words. Condensing the intro text down to the minimum, simplifying the text in the feats....these are the obvious places to hit first.
AND WHILE WE ARE ON THE SUBJECT....
You might be wondering why we have a guideline that prohibits related articles (without prior approval). Early on in Wayfinder, authors that found the word counts too limiting decided to write their submissions in two or more parts, turning them in as separate submissions. What this did is force us to accept BOTH parts, even if we only liked one. It was also side stepping the word count requirements entirely, which is a HUGE part of freelancing, honestly. If you can't write succinctly enough to hit the word count, then your work is going to get chopped up and redone by the developer. And they won't be happy about it.
In your case, let's say we really like the heritage article, but the flavor text is just not to our liking. If the heritage just doesn't make sense without the flavor text, or it's unable to stand on its own without the flavor text (many references to the flavor text) then we are forced to take both, and then spend a LOT of time helping you rewrite the flavor text,...
That makes a lot of sense! I'm totally happy with this as a guideline. I think I just misread its intention and I wanted to clarify. I definitely don't want to cause any problems for you or bring up previous frustrations so I apologise for doing so. I will start trimming! :)
