---===Background===---:
Dav Theis was born into the royal players' family. An unfocused child, he was sent to the famous Bardic College in the capital of Talingarde, with vague plans for the future.
Dav studied hard at becoming a Bard, although at the beginning, he did not have a strong affinity for any of the bardic disciplines. While researching obscure musical instruments in the extensive library, he accidentally uncovered a tome containing the forbidden teachings of Asmodeus, the evil overlord of the Outer Planes.
Upon this discovery, Dav began to consider Talingardean society as imbalanced. It seemed to him that the people would be much more healthier, less complacent, and generally fitter (Darwinially speaking) if they worshiped a larger variety of gods and/or demons.
Dav attempted to befriend other bard-trainees to try to convince them of his political views. Since he was attending the equivalent of a liberal-arts-college, this was not very difficult. In fact, Dav was able to find two or three students who agreed that Mitran worship was getting out of hand, although he did not share his forbidden Asmodean knowledge with them.
The tricky bit was ascertaining how far his fellow intellectual dilettantes were willing to go to achieve their ends. In the end, a loyal (or, in another view, more cowardly) student notified religious authorities of Dav's growing circle of 'like-minded individuals'. Clerical authorities arrested Dav, and searched his room, where they found the heretical Asmodean tome. This was evidence enough to convict Dav of heretical sedition.
