Ohh and i'm not thinking specifically about the rise of the runelords adventure path but any adventure really.

I know that rules wise you should but
GM to GM, do you roll concentration checks for your spell casting NPCs when players are battling them?

Currently at the last part of Skinsaw Murders - ROTR adventure path.

Recently i've found my sessions less enjoyable for me, my players are having fun, but i'm missing something.
I simply wish my players knew more of the backstory, but i'm finding it difficult to give them the information needed to understand/discover the plots without ruining the story for them. I've played with the thought of simply telling them out of game, what's going on behind the scene, but...yeah..i can't decide if its a bad move.

I told one of my players this and he asked why i didnt just let them read for example Ironbriars journal...their linguistics rolls where simply so low that it didnt make sense that they could, in hindsight i should just have let them read it, but after describing the cryptic text i thought it would undermine the difficulty. Also I find it weird that bad guys have journals and even more so journals with detailed background information...

So my questions are:
1. Is it a bad move telling them the backstory?

2. How much background information do you give your players, either in game or out of game?

3. Any pointers as to how to give them more background information in game?

@ngc7293
Thank you for the feedback :)
I have added BAB 2, 3 and 4 on the main sheet and added them to the melee and range attacks table on the Weapons/Armor sheet.
I have also added 6 empty skill slots
Does this work alright ?

Do we ever use BAB 2,3,4 in CMB and CMD ?

@ngc7293
On second thought, regarding Monk bonuses, i've added 2 Misc to CMD instead and added notes to them.
On AC i've added an Misc2 - I'm thinking it should be enough with 2 Misc in AC
Does this work for you or am I missing something ?

I take it none of your players have played a Monk. There isn't a Wisdom bonus for AC or CMD. This is the reason I created my own.

I also did the same thing when I created a Black Blade Magus.
Even my Arcane Duelist Bard which doesn't have Versatile Performance still has more than two Perform skills.

You're right in your assumptions :) I haven't had any Monks in any of my groups. I'll update it and and a manual Wizdom bonus for AC and CMD. Thank you for spotting it.

So Arcane Duelist Bard needs more Perform Skills ?
How many should I add ?

When I download the file as excel or open office, it SQUISHES some of the cells like WIS and others. This doesn't download very well. I don't know how others are affected.

I haven't tried it in Excel or Open Office. Maybe i'll look into it.

The reason I wanted it in Google Sheets is because i'm going to share the character sheets individually with my players with editable permissions and have them use Google Sheets, that way I always have the latest character sheets since they sync, and it makes it possible for me to pull data from all character sheets into my GM sheet(I use a sheet to track initiatives, npc's, story hooks and all sorts of campaign info)

Downside is that you have to have a Gmail account.
Plus side is that it's free.
Google Chrome can make Google Sheets files available and editable offline.
Google Sheets app(IOS and Android) can make the files available and editable offline as well.

The messageboard seems to be removing the hashtag if I use the full url...anyways glad you got it working.

Even if you use the tiny url ?

Sorry, it seems to be doing something to the link.

Hi everyone

I couldn't quite find a digital character sheet that worked as I wanted for my group, they were either too advanced, large or too simple.
So I made my own in google sheets.
I'm aiming for it to be tablet friendly, responsive and still require the players to understand and go through the standard character generation process.

If any of you want to try it out and give me some feedback, maybe do some bug testing, i'd appreciate it.

Grey fields are auto-generated.
Yellow fields are those players frequently change.
Make a copy of it by going to "File - Make a copy" after you open it.

On tablets you can use the Google Sheets app.

Thank you.

PFFeatCardGen updated to version 1.2
Had a bug in it that would continously reroute to the front page on the website.

PFFeatCardGen updated to version 1.1

Fixed:
Some Feats have the same name but are of different types and sources, this would cause cards to be generated from sources and types that weren't selected.
Only cards you have selected should be shown from now on.

UI Updated:
Now displaying source on the individual Feats selection.

Hi everyone

I was looking for a Feats Cards generator.
When I couldn't find one I decided to make one called: PFFeatCardGen
Feel free to use it, you can find it on the main page here: http://darkild.altuschillers.net

Thanks to Perram for his awesome Spell Card Generator and for letting me use some of his CSS to do the card design for my Feats Card generator :)

I couldn't get Google Chrome to print in Color, but Safari can and i expect Firefox and IE can print in Colors as well. Remember to select Print Background Colors in the print dialog.
I'm aiming for the cards to be CCG sized but to be honest i haven't actually printed out any yet.

Feedback would be appreciated.

Sorry for not replying earlier, life got in the way and i completely forgot about starting this thread.
Anyhow...i was GM'ing again this weekend and i needed this information which reminded me of the thread i started :)
I got the answers i needed from your replies.
Thanks for taking your time answering my questions.

As to why i needed this information:
I wanted to be able to explain about ingame money to my players(and to better understand it myself), both in character and out of character, give them something to compare against.
When someone offers the group 50 GP or 2000 GP to do something, how do you/they know if it's enough or not.
From a GM perspective, understanding ingame money better makes it easier for me to portray the right reaction from an NPC when and if PCs ask for more money to do something, or when a PC tries to buy unusual items or haggle prices.
There was more to my questions than the above(taxes, business income), but clarifying that would take some time for me, so i'll skip it.
I got the answers i needed. Thank you.

Hey everyone
Great adventure path. My group has just finished burnt offerings and we had a great time playing it.

I am a bit at a loss with money matters and could use some help.
1. What is the monthly salary for a working class citizen in sandpoint and magnimar?
2. What would be the monthly salary for a town guard in sandpoint?
3. What percentage would you set the tax rate in sandpoint?
4. A business like the glassworks, how much would money does it make, and how much would the running costs be?
5. How much money does and in inn Sandpoint make?

1. Is it possible for an Intellect Devourer to inhabit a human body for more than 7 days(20 years to be exact) and maintain full usefullness of the body/keep the body from decaying?

2. Phrenic Scourges - for them to enslave someone, how would they do it, how much time would they need to do it and do they need to maintain some sort of focus for the enslavement to continue working?
(it as a combination of Charm Monster, Detect Thoughts, Suggestion and their psion ability Sap?)

3. Phrenic Scourges - Can you become immune(even momentarily) to their psion attacks/enslavement attempts?

Thanx for all the replies.
I was able to track down Dungeon Crawl Classics: The Adventure Begins - and i'm planning to use two adventures from it.

"DCC - The Beast of Barren Hill" - A goblin will ask the PCs for help killing this bear(they already captured and released a goblin earlier in exchange for information, so he knows them already), in Exchange the goblin will show the PCs where the bear is(since it's terrorizing both goblins and local farmers, the PCs should be interested in this) and make sure that his clan will cease all plans to attack/participate in raids on Sandpoint. The goblin cannot say how he will prevent/stop his clan from participating in the planned raids, just that he will, he does however require the PCs to bring him the head of the bear.

"DCC - A Question of Morels" - There is a wizards shop in Sandpoint..lastname Voon. Voon has told the PCs(when they were trying to get discounts at his store) that he knows a druid that needs some mushrooms, which unfortunately are poisoness, if the PCs can get those mushrooms for him, he will have the druids make a few valuable potions for them free of charge since he could not offer any more discounts.

Junk yard - I will be using a couple of goblins here and use an animated rope.

Choppers isle - will be using the writeup found at dorkistan.

Thanx for the replies.

I've had a look at the Choppers Isle writeup it looks interesting, i think i'll do a couple of changes and use it(thanx for the link Tom)

Fraust - Hmm a prison transport...i think i can come up with something, thank you.

XperimentalDM - Good idea doing something with at the Trash Heap/Junkyard. I'll play with idea and use it.

I like Fraust's idea about a goblin messenger asking for help with problems tied to another tribe.
Can anyone tell me if the goblin tribes are part of the adventure later on in rise of the runelords?
I'd like some help developing this idea.....

Hi Everyone

I'm GMing the Rise of the Runelords adventure path for some of my friends.
Our gaming group consists of 4-5 PC and me as the GM.
I'm new to pen and paper role playing and have had about 8 pathfinder sessions as a PC at the local gaming club. I started at the club with the intent to learn as much as possible so that i could GM my own sessions.

Anyways, i have GMed my first successful session this Saturday which lasted 15 hours(11,5 hours of Pathfinder - Burnt Offerings and 3,5 hours of improvised adventuring).
I would say that we are halfway through Burnt Offerings.
I have the complete Rise of the Runelords adventure path and as things are now i intend on running the complete adventure path with my group.
But I have only had the time to read and prepare for Burnt Offerings, which means that i don't know what will happen in the rest of the adventure path.

SO...
I want my players to have more options.
I'd like to ask for help from GMs that have run the complete RotR adventure path, I need ideas for side quests to use in Burnt Offerings that won't ruin the story later on. The more thought through the better.
Preferably side quests that can build around Sandpoint and it's history and Citizens, if i can include Major Kendrin, Ameiko, Shalelu as key NPC's that would be great, or maybe the Sczarni family, or having more story/adventurering around the story about Jervis Stoot(late unpleasantness, choppers island)
There is alot of story to build on, but i don't want to ruin the storyline later on by making wrong twists.

Sorry for making this such a long post, i felt it was needed to explain a little bit about myself first, so you know how much experience i have.

Anyways, the more thought through suggestions the better.

Looking forward to any replies.
