Male Human Fighter 1/ Warlock 2

I lurk in and out every once in awhile, waiting for it to pick back up while I work on other projects that have my attention at the moment.

Male Human Fighter 1/ Warlock 2

Darius will attempt to find a secluded corner somewhere and try to stay out of the way of the more skill competent crew members and enjoy the slight moment of relief of leaving the trapped water.

- Though he shares the concern for keev but he knows there is nothing he can do for her at the moment as it is beyond his ability. thus he will watch from afar

- being personally detached from the sea born itself he will leave its ultimate fate to those in charge.

- As far as the trapped water is concerned he would sooner be miles away from there if at all possible.

other than this Darius will remain quite allowing is conscience to brood and bribe while he watches

Darius wipes the sweat from his brow before it could wash over his eyes. "would you take this as an omen or what, looks like a certain someone can still reach us and is probably laughing it's arse off right now" "It could keep laughing until the world ends for all I care" Darius whispers quitely before he notices the sharptoothed mountain of muscle splicing the rope on deck;

"Please call me Darius, your captain is the only captain here me I'm just trying to survive like the rest of the crew"

He quietly returns to his tasks seemingly loosing any peripheral awareness of anyone else near him for several moments.

Male Human Fighter 1/ Warlock 2

"Not now, not now..."

Male Human Fighter 1/ Warlock 2

Now that the formalities were over, Darius resolves himself to return to work finishing the makeshift oar and if possible aiding with the rope though he knew was not so proficient with such skills he just needed to keep himself busy.

"Aye captain"

That would take some getting used to!

"Perfect, now that you are seemingly referring all the responsiblity to this smiling bafoon maybe we can get back to the loathsom brooding we are so accustomed to, plan a few crimenal acts perhapse?...

Looking to the mountian of lizard scales and muscle;

"Might be worth trying, though I do not wish to risk two ships under these conditions unnecessarily if we dont have to"

"Captain if you would follow me, we see what we have left"

DM your right, my PDF reseluotion quality is really poor and small so I didn't make out the details, thanks

He spreads an arm, as if to guide him towards the hold - insisting, obviously, that he go first.

With a serious look on his face;

"Well captain what you see around you is the limit of what the Sea Born is I'm afraid" waving his hand in a sweeping motion from fore to aft. "This is all that remains of her besides personal items and gear"

don't know if anyone remembers but this is a cog, the deck we're standing on is the hold, LOL! yeah she's that small.

"Faerun? Then it appears we have some commonality after all Captain" the slight moment of surprise flashes across his face.

"And here I thought I would be so lonely out here without any good conversation to pass the time, oh did I forget someone oops silly me did I forget about you"

At the sound of the young voice from the side of the ship; "Well you are the only captain here sir, so it would not bother so much for the additional company, after all I was just a passenger on this vessel myself until we met this unfortunate circumstance!"

"Mr. Belros, Mr. Liam can you assist the good lady please"

"Well captain, your offer is very enticing and guess I would speak on behalf of everyone on board that we would be most willing to join your vessel and leave this behind us but first If I may, one of us Ms Keev here is gravely injured and has gone for sometime without any medical attention as none of us are skilled in such matters, if you could please arrange for her some medical aid as quickly as possible before her situation deteriorates"

”Ohh look how smug this one is, you see that so proud stance like he’s on top of the world, oh I’m a “captain” and have a crew and power so matter of factly like that, and then that smile…just punch him already please…”

Darius take note of the captains poise and straight forwardness ;” We are from a doomed world that has since ended and we are lost plain and simple, those you see before you are all the remain of the Sea Born’s crew, the rest either left some time ago in search of help and haven’t returned or taken the means of their end into their own ends.”

A quick glance at the tall half-dragon to his visitor’s side…
“This damnable ocean seemed to be in league with the demonic plague we fought so hard to leave behind to a new life just to end like this…well until you arrived” ”punch him, punch him punch him”

”Is your friend alright, he seems rather uncomfortable?”

Darius then stands hands at his side and a look in his eye and an eye brow raised, a look of calm yet slight puzzlement at the appearance of one who seems rather physically strong and healthy yet…nervous. Darius attempts to focus his thoughts away from instinctively drawing his blade, the situation is to tense to act so harshly, too many lives on the line to risk a foolish, nervous fight.

"Captain" Devannis Pantera wrote:

Flying high over the ocean blue, Captain Pantera was at the mercy of his aiding guest, Garth. The half-dragon seemed intent on cooperating for the time being, but for now, the Captain would firmly trust him - thus, the entire 'don't drop me or you'll regret it' issue that arose in his mind.

He sighed for the few moments as he was flown towards the other boat - he could easily tell how small it was on the landing approach. He looked up at Garth, and smirked.

"Hope you're ready - negotiations start as soon as we land. Stay close - I might need you to lift me out in case it goes sour."

Within a minute of this very talking, he would land on that boat, and give a smirk, adjusting his tricorne to his head.

"Greetings to all of you! I am Captain Pantera of the Brotherhood, and it is my pleasure to have met you this day! I have allies of mine coming in by sea soon, so I only have one question! Who is in charge here, so I may further discuss the terms of our cooperation in this dastardly time of survival?"

He hoped that would work - if not, he'd surely be in a hell of a problem.

Glancing up from his work with Four and Applejuice Darius raises a hand to shield his eyes from the sun in order to better glimpse the on coming shadow in the sky. Realizing that it might possibly be an envoy from the other ship Darius warily readies to present himself to their guest.

”Looks like they have decided to talk first!” Fighting down the survivors urge to reach for the grip of his sword he calmly asks everyone ”Everyone remain calm I’ll try to talk to them first but in case things go sour fast me must react quickly, although I’m not sure as to how that ship would take to hostages.”

Pointing to the ship in the distance. ”But it appears that they know something we don’t look at their range”

As the winged creature comes closer into view and Darius begins to make detail of the winged envoy’s draconic appearance he notes that he appears to be carrying a passenger, a rather well dressed fellow, perhaps somebody important from that ship, the captain maybe? This one has stones to show himself first given the circumstances. Talk would likely be first on list and here’s hoping it goes down smoothly.

”Cooperation, allies by sea” he sure gets down to business and doesn’t leave anything to chance, surely he is a ”Leader’.

Stepping forward keeping his tone even and assured so as to not give away his nervousness;
” I am Darius D. Drevard of the Sea Born, I wish I could welcome you under better, well circumstances as they are I am afraid I cannot offer you a drink but…

Darius holds out is hand in a gesture of greeting while silently observing the man standing before him gauging his every move a fact that may be betrayed by his eyes.

"Welcome aboard, Captain"

Male Human Fighter 1/ Warlock 2

I think the boards are messed up?

It showing that Devannis has posted yet his post doesn't show, u have to look at his profile in order to see it!

Male Human Fighter 1/ Warlock 2

As the crew return from below deck Darius casually lifts one hand overhis brow to shield his eyes from the sun. Can he believe he see's what he thinks he see's, another ship! How is that possible the sea was seemingly endless? But the why doesn't matter now, all that does is how he reacts at this moment.

"Everyone...." he pauses as he thinks for the words to say. "We may not be the only ones in this damnable ocean afterall" as darius points to the large black figure on the horizon for everyone else to see.

"But lets not forget what where trying to do ehh, remember we don't know who they are, if they bring salvation or doom...so lets prepare ourselves just in case!" Darius voice carried caution overlaying the hope he felt swelling at the bottom of his gut. "What have we learned about trying to hold on to hope? It never lasts"

Darius moves to his chest containing his remaining possesions and deftly equips his trusty sword and collection of daggers, as he does he speak's with iron certainty:Diplomacy 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20
"Belros, Cassandra, Liam prepare yourselfs for visitors, we will have to be cautious and not allow our hopes to get the better of us, we may need to defend ourselves!"

Four-o-Four and Applejuice, please continue with our original plan we may need to move on the moments notice and any momentum may be worth while!

Darius unconciously looks toward Keev still under the aftcastle, he new he wasn't a very religious man but if there were any gods in this new world he hoped they would here his prayer at this very moment; "please, let us live"

At that moment Darius will set to work aiding Four-O-Four and Applejuice with the makeshift oar. hopefully showing an example of fortitude in this situaiton that would inspire the others to take to focusing on their tasks.

Male Human Fighter 1/ Warlock 2

Standing near Keev, Darius offers assistance in leading her to the aftcastle of the ship where she can rest in the shade instead of the exhausting sun. “Keev my dear you are in no shape to be standing out here in the sun where you could possible exhaust yourself let you retire to the shade of the aftcastle and continue to rest.”

“I know I’m the last one to be making any sort of promises but… if, when this plan works and we get moving my first priority will be to find a way to stabilize your condition you have my word on that but for now you need just to rest.”
“Look at you being all noble and chivalrous, making empty promises to a damsel in distress, albeit one who could probably rip your head off even in her condition”

After escorting Keev to the aftcastle to ensure she is out of the way of the commotion and not in danger of any accidental happenings Darius returns to the forecastle ad begins measuring mentally what they would need to safely remove the bowsprit without accidently dropping into the abyss and there by ruining their chance for freedom. If anything he knew deep down that this project could not be rushed, too much rested on the success of his futile imaginings and he wasn’t about to fail, not this time not after what happened so long ago.

He won’t repeat the same mistakes.

Darius takes in the sight of the ship and the surrounding vast ocean then finally to the sky at the broken sun and the red visage of a dark ominous orb hanging there has if mocking his very attempts “You broke my world, but you will not break me” Darius quietly swears to himself as if daring the omen to try. With one last look around him hoping to glimpse of anything else he might be able to use,

Spot:1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Darius then takes a deep breath. “I won’t let you break anyone else!””Too late” and with that Darius takes one last glimpse at Keev lying under the old wooden aftcastle struggling with every breath and sorely wounded. Darius does not flinch but finds renewed purpose and ready’s himself for the task at hand.

Once the others have returned with the tools Darius will begin aiding his crew in this endeavor, whatever labor needs doing, whatever encouragement needs saying, he will give them something to focus on over the grief of the past dark weeks.

Diplomacy:1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19

Male Human Fighter 1/ Warlock 2

“He is going to be hard to live with if this works”
“Everyone listen, I and Four-0-Four have a plan in the works, now all it’s going to take effort from the rest of us.” Darius projected with some semblance of leadership hoping to gather his remaining comrades into a teamwork means survival state of mind.
(Diplomacy 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20 if you need it)
“The bowsprit has no use for us now except as means of possible propulsion, now I am not a carpenter in any sense of the word so I cannot do this on my own but working together we can finally achieve something more than collectively waiting to die!”

”Applejuice your strength would be of great help in this endevore, Belros and Cassandra your our most nimble and skillful with the rigging we’ll need all we can spare to secure the oar to the railing.
”Taking charge, you really think your petty try at leadership will get these poor souls to listen to you, look at them hope is not what they need that can just be taken away from them so easily” “I wont fail them” ” yes you will it will only be a matter of time”
“Liam if you would I would like your impute on something regarding our yard pole?”

"Keev my dear I know you're in no particular shape to help with some of the more laborous task's but if I could may I have a word with you?"

Male Human Fighter 1/ Warlock 2

” …..” quietly swallowing his pride at that comment. Yes the plan, as it were we might have the tools to remove ourselves from this dire situation with a little imaginative thinking. ”You want to toss him overboard too…you know you want to, it would be easy just…”

"The bowsprit on the front of the ship, with your help we could remove it along with its support rigging and some extra planking from the fore castle we could create an extra large makeshift oar useable for rowing out of here since we have no wind nor current."

Taking a quick moment to finalize the rest of his plan mentally, looking straight up toward the yard pole on the mainmast and thinking to himself
so what do you think?

Male Human Fighter 1/ Warlock 2

Tracking...

Male Human Fighter 1/ Warlock 2

Yes I might have an Idea Four-O-Four if you would here it. ”I wonder how many voices he’s hearing in his head or whatever he calls a mind in there... bah I’ll never get used to him.” ”You and me both”
And please don’t call me that, meatsack would sound a whole lot less appropriate given our circumstance and our less metallic selves wanting to avoid that future determination altogether now, I’d really appreciate it ”now that’s telling him, wait what, your… oh never mind I think I’m not needed here at the moment”
If I could borrow your strength along side Applejuice, and if possible any knowledge of rope working you might posses. I think it might be possible to row our way out of these dead waters throwing a gesture over his shoulder toward the bow of the ship at the bowsprit in particular, he pauses to see if the thought sinks in with the metal man.

Male Human Fighter 1/ Warlock 2

Heh, that was the backup plan ;)

Thanks Suny I can't wait to get started myself!

Tonight I hope to have the background and characteristics of Darius up on his profile. I've postponed that for too long at this point.

Heh, no problem.

I don't see why the Cog can't have a bowsprit, what ya got planned?
:)

I’ll make the change and probably take the language when I level up next with some skill points!

Now for the bowsprit;

Yep the plan if I can convince the others, is to use the bowsprit the yard pole, some rope/rigging and maybe some extra planking from the decks forecastle or aft castle to form large oars and start rowing away from these calm waters as we have no wind nor current to use a sail. Now this is provided I get any information from the NPC’s or find out somehow there is something more sinister under the waves than just calm dark water ;)

But first I need to make some checks to check my surroundings for anything else I might be able to use to help the remainder of my crew, hopefully before we start killing each other thanks to little voices in our heads, err my head, let alone hunger!

The bowsprit is that pole on the bow of the ship that helps stabilize the sailing mast on the either the main mast for smaller ships or forward mast on the more larger ships like galleons.

There isn't a representation of it in the stormwrack book for the the Cog, the Caravel yes, the Cog no but after looking some cogs up to get a feel of the ship I'm on I've learned that some cog's did have a bowsprit and those tended to be longer range ships than the average cog which usually stuck close to shore since it was an open air design with no real decking (multiple levels).

It was originaly used for moving goods up and down the cost like the caravel but that ship would later evolve to make longer sea and ocean going voyages, where the cog couldn't really survive that kind of voyage being far less sturdy.

EDIT:
The bowsprit of a sailing vessel is a pole (or spar) extending forward from the vessel's prow. It provides an anchor point for the forestay(s), allowing the fore-mast to be stepped farther forward on the hull
Bowsprit

Looking over the ships in stormwrack, the Cog fits the bill.

DM:

Does this particular Cog happen to have a bowsprit on the bow of the ship by chance?

Male Human Fighter 1/ Warlock 2

After Checking on the state of the crew and remaining supplies Darius continues tries to come up with a plan to move the ship. The longer it remains still the quicker it becomes apparent that doom lies near.

If Belros and/or Cassandra were part of the diving crew

“Belros, I do not wish to force either of you to relive your drastic encounter but do either you or Cassandra remember from your experience under the waves how shallow the sea is here, or was there anything you remember seeing in your surroundings?” .Bracing himself for any emotional countenance from the aquatic elves. Darius lets his mind wonder, “I should have thought of something like this before, we have no wind and the sea is calm if not silently deadly to those who enter it, then there must be either something holding us or…. No there is always a solution no time to dwell on the negative I have been too selfish for far too long” "Selfishness isn’t the mark of a coward, only of a survivor..."

“Now where is Four-O-Four, perhaps our sheepish ironman may be able to yet aid me with….this idea”

Male Human Fighter 1/ Warlock 2

DM: I shall name her the Sea Born
What kind of ship would she happen to be if I may ask?

Male Human Fighter 1/ Warlock 2

Was it not enough that so many sacrificed their very being to allow those few to escape and perhaps glimpse a chance of survival, a life starting anew without the dreaded portent of forever suffering in a demon ridden hell…. These thoughts again flowed through Darius’s mind. After all we did to get here this is how it ends? "Yesss it does"…. "Shut up I wont allow you to add to my problems." "But I can solve your problems", "Your kind of problem solving I don’t need, so whatever it is your trying to convince me of wont happen." Aww, how cute, you are still trying to play the part of the selfless hero hmmm, you and I both know the truth! Open your eyes and the solution is simple. Your stores are low most of your crew is lost to madness and have resulted to taking their own lives in hopes of escape, how long do you think it will be until their depravity turns to ….. delight. The delight of feasting on the flesh they dream of as a wondrous delight, you know what I mean. Already the young have begun casting themselves over the railing, the women look more and more fragile, tempting is it not". "I TOLD YOU TO SHUT UP!"

Looking into the eyes of those in poor souls surrounding him with the gaze of the distraught and trodden, almost as though as a simple understanding lay beneath. "Yes even you Darius D. Drevard are beginning to unravel. Soon, very soon you will begin to see things my way……". "No I won’t, I will find a way to survive, I will find a way for us all to survive!"

Darius, finally moves from his perch and goes to check on the more fragile members of the remaining crew starting with the females to ensure that those under his charge remain unharmed, physically at least and to comfort those he can. Diplomacy 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17 .

After which Darius moves to check the stores for the dozenth time that day to see if anyone has gotten ahead of themselves to pillage some extra feed for themselves, not that he could truly blame them but still only through working together could any hope to survive this…. Liquid hell.

Male Human Fighter 1/ Warlock 2

Will do, I should be ready to go by tommorow afternoon.

Male Human Fighter 1/ Warlock 2

Would it then be appropriate that I update the character sheet now then, for there were somethings that I still would like to finish before I begin, like the Magic item and to one of my skills?

Spoiler:
craft clothing > craft weaponsmithing

And is there anything of note on the character sheet that should be examined further before he is allowed into the game?

Male Human Fighter 1/ Warlock 2

may I introduce Darius D. Drevard

I have finally managed to get most of him finalized (even though I'm at work). at this point I'm still fine tuning his equipment as I have yet to choose a magic item that would fit the kind of personality I'm envisioning for him,

Other than that all I need is to finish his background, however he is pretty much ready to go.

Some input from my fellow gamers and DM would be greatly appreciated.
