Wounds: 13/13 | Fate: 2/3

So I'm thinking we might just try and nab that Insuratti.

I'm pretty sure we are out of clues we can gather just by hanging around and Lans doesn't seem to be the type to wear a nametag.

We grab the Insuratti, ask him some questions, and cut a deal (if possible). All we need is his Oath Cog and it's proof of death. He gets to walk away free and alive, we get our answers and we either split the Thrones or keep them depending on the nature of the deal I suppose.

GM - How big a deal are Oath Cogs? As in, would it even be possible someone would give theirs up in order to get a bounty off of their head - or are they literally life or death.

Wounds: 13/13 | Fate: 2/3

Toughness(75): 1d100 ⇒ 3

The heavy smoke doesn't bother Daniel much as he's been smoking Lho for most his life and his lungs were already paying the price.

Common Lore: Underworld(30): 1d100 ⇒ 28
Do I know anything much of Capt Nils? Is it a notable name with notable deeds attached?

Daniel takes a sip of his drink and smacks his lips. Horrible. He sighs a bit as he picks up some of the conversation "It looks like there's a Bounty Hunter here as well. He seems to be eyein' us a bit - it honestly might be because we don't have cogs." He gives a small shrug and takes another drink, "It might not matter much at the moment though. We don't know much about this Lans fella' so we should probably just pick a place to start. The Cloud Boys there would be the obvious choice, but I don't think we quite fit in with them and they seem to stick to their own."[b] He shakes his head as he continues, [b]"Maybe that Insuratti boy would know a thing or two - we just need to get him away from this place, or follow him. I don't feel like takin' him here, 'specially with the other bikers and that Bounty Hunter out and about."
He gives a sidelong glance out the entrance, "It's possible that shady guy might know something. I'm just not sure how to approach 'em without spooking.

He makes a small grimace and continues to drink. As he finishes talking he leans back a bit and tries his best to pick out some snippets of conversation that he can hear from the bar.

Wounds: 13/13 | Fate: 2/3

Daniel sits down at the table, ordering a pitcher of cheap swill and glasses for everyone - not wanting them to seem out of place in the seedy bar.

After the servant wanders away he mutters a few words to his comrades. "Outside is a notable enforcer from the Insuratti family. He's worth a good bit of coin dead. The family isn't known to deal in Xenos artifacts though - but might be connected enough to know who does."

He runs a hand through his hair and makes a small show of leaning back and looking rather bored as he waits for his drink as he contines, "I thought I saw someone in a wide-brimmed hat and trench coat watchin' the bar across the street. It was dark though so I couldn't make much out. Might be somethin' to watch fir."

He passes a casual glance the cloud boys way to see if he can notice anything amiss.

Sorry for the recent low posting rate. I got a little side tracked with my work schedule and the holidays.

Face of the Law to reroll
Intimidate(40): 1d100 ⇒ 81

Daniel stares as the pathways around him trying to make sense of where they might need to go. He grabs a passing underhiver and wheels the man around to face him. "Where is the Screaming Wheel?" he says as he glares hard at the man. The Underhiver stares him down a moment before pointing down the road towards a set of confusing crossroads. "It's tha' way." The Underhiver shrugs off Daniels grip and laughs - obviously neither helpful nor intimidated by the Ex-Arbite.

Wounds: 13/13 | Fate: 2/3

I'm ready when everyone else is. I think we've gotten all we can for now.

Wounds: 13/13 | Fate: 2/3

"Thanks for pulling us out of there Red." Daniel lights another Lho-Stick and takes a moment to relax now that he was out of the tight streets. The frontier worlds had never had so many people and Daniel never seemed to get used to the crowds, no matter how long he'd been on hive Desoleum.

"It sounds like you've been around here a little longer than most of us. Have you ever heard the name Lans Guilijan - even in passing?"

Wounds: 13/13 | Fate: 2/3

I'm with Ciaran in the fact that I assumed the Sworn Collectors and Razor Angels were designed to give us a first glance at the basics of the combat and society [with the oath cogs] but were rather unimportant as far as our mission was concerned.

I've been operating under the assumption that the current clue was "A minor noble..." and had nothing to do with the xeno items or erratic behaviour yet. So the assumption would be we needed to get the the upper hives in order to even hear workd of mouth about "That crazy Lans" or something...

Wounds: 13/13 | Fate: 2/3

Daniel grimaces as the sludge drips off of him and looks forlornly at his skimmer outfit as it melts down. He shrugs off the rags and uses them to clean himself up slightly.

Wounds: 13/13 | Fate: 2/3

Awareness (30): 1d100 ⇒ 84

Daniel moves into the dark alley and crouches low, obstructing his views to the street.

Wounds: 13/13 | Fate: 2/3

"Thank you Sister." Daniel says as he breaths a small sigh of relief. He hadn't been sure they wouldn't just be shot, but they had made it through the lift.

"I'm certain the same plan won't do again, but I agree we should at least see the security there. Also, now that we're out of the dregs we might hear word of Lans Guiljian so we'd do well to keep an ear out yeah?"

Wounds: 13/13 | Fate: 2/3

"Force ain't really an option. The last thing we need are Arbites chomping at the bit to get us. " Daniel says in a hushed voice. "I suggest we move off to that alcove there and slip into our skimmer outfits. A quick tongue will go nowhere if we don't look the part." He points to a darkened corner or alleyway that seems to be less crowded or preferably empty.

I'm assuming there is a place that will draw less attention to us as we change. If there isn't these plans would obviously need to change. Also to speed things up this post assumes everything is more-or-less sucessful.
Once over there he peels off his underhive gear and tosses on the skimmer outfit, securing his satchel over himself. "Now, with this gettup we just walk onto the lift. Act like you belong."

Once everyone is changed Daniel motions for the crew to follow, "Follow my lead and hopefully we can make it out of this."

Daniel moves swiftly through the crowd, marching forward and shoving people out of the way as he bellows, "MAKE WAY! MOVE IT! LET'S GO - OUTTA THE WAY!" As he approaches the lift he makes a show of ignoring the guards as he usher everyone onto the lift. "LET'S GO MEN! WE DON'T HAVE TIME TO SIT AROUND - ON THE LIFT NOW!"

Assuming the Guards take exception to Daniel overriding their authority.:

I will attempt to Intimidate the guards, I'll use a Fate Point to add +10 to the roll, I've rolled just assuming +/-0 so it might change some things.
Intimidate(40): 1d100 ⇒ 3

Daniel whirls around to face the guard accosting him. "Do you have any idea who I am? I swear ta the Emperor himself, if you so much as even think of obstructin' us again I'll throw you on the next Tithe Ship and you'll live out the rest of your days on some forsaken, backwater, rock wishin' you had never even looked in my direction." He waits a beat before continuing, "Do I make myself clear?"

Once everyone is onboard the lift Daniel will take his place, standing at the ready like he remembers from his day as an Arbite.

Wounds: 13/13 | Fate: 2/3

Is there some area not clogged with people that we might be able to pull the upper hive outfits on without rousing too much suspicion?

Wounds: 13/13 | Fate: 2/3

Does anyone have any ideas for how to sneak onto this lift? I'd prefer not to need to indenture myself to some random noble (much less with them all going rather heretical). I'd say lets just slip into our skimmer outfits but I'm not sure we will be able to find a quite place to do that without seeming odd and drawing attention to ourselves.

Wounds: 13/13 | Fate: 2/3

"Steer clear of the Bondsmen. We don't need the trouble." Daniel says to the group as they continue on towards the lift towards the upper hives.

Wounds: 13/13 | Fate: 2/3

Can we see any lifts heading up towards the upper-hives?

Wounds: 13/13 | Fate: 2/3

Yes I don't mind taking the rear.

Daniel gestures generally towards the lift, "We go up." He casts a quick glance around before suddenly commenting on their noticeable missing parts"Should've taken the Cogs...even if we didn't use 'em." and follows with a quick shrug of his shoulders, deciding the hive outfits should get them to the lift at least.

He takes a moment to take another drag from his Lho-Stick before continuing with his original train of thought, "The job we got is in the upper hives and so far is our only real lead, so it's where we're gonna need to start. It's true, we can't rightly just walk up to Guljian and start spittin' questions, but we can at least try and get close enough to watch and hear the rumors. Other than that we got nothin'." He finishes his Lho-Stick and stomps it on the ground as they walk. "We'll have to play it by ear once we get 'round the upper hives; it ain't much of a plan right now, but it'll come along." He finishes rather matter-of-factly.

Wounds: 13/13 | Fate: 2/3

Daniel reaches into his satchel and withdraws his lower hive outfit. He throws over himself and shrugs his satchel back on.

"We should make haste either way. We've already made too many friends down here."

Wounds: 13/13 | Fate: 2/3

Daniel grinds his teeth a moment before moving to the growing pile of scavenged goods on the tables. He drops his Lho-stick among others and picks up a lighter in exchange.

I'm assuming lighters wouldn't be particularly rare

"I'm not a thief; The stick and my bullet fir the lighter." He says, more of a statement than an offer. With drawing another Lho-stick from his pocket he finally lights one and enjoys it for a moment before returning to the task at hand.

"Let's move on - before we draw any more eyes to ourselves." and with that Daniel leaves through the gate.

Wounds: 13/13 | Fate: 2/3

Daniel's eyes scan the gang surrounding them and briefly over his satchel.

"I'd rather not." He says softly. He continues to patiently stand and awaits to hear others weigh in.

Wounds: 13/13 | Fate: 2/3

I don't remember how much time specifically - but much longer than we realistically need to be staying in their junkyard.

I think we are going to be lucky to get out of here without being indentured servants for a day at this rate, so hopefully we can slip by without much fuss and continue on our business.

Wounds: 13/13 | Fate: 2/3

Daniel raises an eyebrow as his Lho-Stick is plucked from his lips. He patiently waits as Rynald shows their surplus of narcotics before taking it back and placing it in his pocket for when he finally finds a lighter.

Ciaran finishes the conversation before Daniel has a chance to say much the same, but he adds a nod of agreement for effect anyhow.

"Sorry fir the intrusion anyhow," He says as he steps past Rynald with Ciaran, "we'll make sure it don't happen again."

Wounds: 13/13 | Fate: 2/3

I'd vote for quite as a mouse personally. I'm pretty sure we have zero connections that will allow us to not be hunted if we approach this without much tact.

Wounds: 13/13 | Fate: 2/3

Daniel watches the scene unfolding before him as things slowly feel more and more tense. He silently thanked himself for not having thrown on his armor. He quickly opens his satchel to throw his rifle back in and notices some Lho-Sticks, he pockets those as he stows his rifle - wishing he had a better way to hide the weapon.

Shouldering the satchel he walks to where Ciaran and Rynald are, sticking a Lho-Stick between his lips before he remembers he doesn't have a lighter.

Wounds: 13/13 | Fate: 2/3

I propose that we take this chance to try and befriend these Collectors. If I remember correctly we didn't fire at any of them directly, so we could feasibly convince them that we're here to help.

Besides that fact that indiscriminate killing is likely to hit our Subtlety.

The main issue is that we would need a real good reason to be here and it's probably best to not mention the Inquisition...maybe?

I mean, worse case scenario we kill them and blame the Razor Angels anyway, but I think having even a small amount of good will in a notable gang would do well for us.

Wounds: 13/13 | Fate: 2/3

Round 4

Daniel takes a deep breath and levels his trusty rifle, aiming down the sights at one of the more menacing of the Razor Angels. The noises drown out around him and he waits a beat before taking his shot.

Seeing his aim strike true Dan allows himself a small smile, thinking of a time long gone by from his home, before focusing back on the action.

"Thanks fir the support Sister!"

Round 3

Daniel moves behind cover and retrieves his rifle from his satchel. He gives it a quick glance over and breaths a small sigh of relief; he hadn't seen the rest of his gear but the rifle had made it out OK at least.

"Let's get out of here first. Then we can talk about differin' opinions."

Half Action move into cover, Half Action to ready the Rifle.

Curse Paizo and their constant maintenance!

Round 2

Daniel grabs his and Sister Ciaran's satchels and slings them over his shoulder. He hurries back to the mouth of the tunnel.

"Incomin' Sister! He says, unsure if she could even hear him over the din of the fight. Shrugging off the packs he grabs Ciaran's and tosses it up to her.

I'm not sure if this would require a roll but I'll include one anyway. I'm also assuming that the move and toss use all my actions for the round.

Dan takes a look over the lip and decides to try his best to climb down the ledge.

Dan heroically leaps to the ground, rolling as he hits the floor. Not a scratch on him. What a man.

Round 1

He quickly picks himself up and looks around - hoping everyone saw nothing. He collects himself and spies the bags.

Hearing the Sister's call for a weapon, Dan holds up an 'OK' sign. He quickly scrambles to the bags, keeping low to avoid any stray fire from the current altercation behind him.

Half Action Stand. Half Action Move action to the bags. Moving up to 3m or until I hit the satchels.

Initiative: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 Oh boy..

Daniel watches his compatriots begin to get lowered down as quickly as possible. He looks around at where he was and who he was with, wondering where things had gone to lead him to this point. The noises below shake him from his stupor;

"Let's get our things. Then we can see about helping whoever don't shoot us. If I get a bullet my way I 'sume they aren't out fir help." He says, nodding his agreement to the current plan in general.

He accepts the help in getting down as climbing had never been his forte.

Daniel moves over to take a look out of the exit, he too notices the bags and scavengers. He takes a hard look at who seems to be picking through everything but Daniel hasn't been around Desoleum long enough to remember all of it's politics and gangs well enough by heart.

He turns to the rest of the group and makes a nod of agreement with Volkrad and holding a finger to his lips.

How many scavengers can we see down there and are our satchels particularly close to them?

Wounds: 13/13 | Fate: 2/3

Daniel moves steadily along taking heavy, deliberate steps. Even the dark of this musty passage his habits formed as a longtime Arbritrator shine through - even if that holier-than-thou attitude is one of his less redeeming qualities. As Volkrad stops Daniel's eyes narrow and he instinctivley reaches at his hip forgetting that his trusty instruments do not lie there at the moment. He closes his eyes and gives a small hiss of frustration before opening them and nodding to Volkrad.

Sorry, I've been at work all day and unable to post.[Paizo was still down this morning when I had a chance]. I'll submit a gameplay post tonight as well as update my profile for the backstory

This is Sach's character. Most of the crunch is pretty much done...just need to grab a couple more items. The backstory will be online soon!
