Hatshepsut wasn't, herself, very militarily adept. The rightful heir to the throne (Thutmose III) was the military genius of the family and marshal of the armies. I saw a documentary which came to the conclusion that he didn't pursue his rightful claim to the throne seized by Hatshepsut because he didn't want to plunge Egypt into a civil war; most modern sources are quick to lavish praise on Hatshepsut and ignore the noble actions of Thutmose III.

I do get your point, Drejk, and of course there will be exceptions. I don't believe for a second that no woman, anywhere, anytime has never been a great soldier. That's crazy extremism.

Well, at the risk of being piled on, it should be noted that, historically, virtually all great military leaders have been men. This has happened because men have dominated in martial positions throughout history. Why? Well, despite the fact that I believe men and women to be innately equal in terms of value as human beings, that does not equate into equality of capability. Nature has made men larger, stronger, and more able to handle the rigors of combat. Hence, many more men have been able to rise to positions of military authority.

Now, I know Pathfinder is fantasy, and suspension of disbelief is important. I'm not clamouring for different strength scores for males and females or anything like that. But one does wonder if Paizo has simply decided that they need X% of authority positions filled with female characters in their modules. It does make me scratch my head sometimes and question what their inspiration is.

Homosexuals, however, are another matter. Who knows how many great leaders have been gay? I can point to greats such as Alexander with certainty, but no doubt there have been many more. As a gay man, I can appreciate that Paizo represents homosexuals in a positive light (e.g., it treats us as normal people, both good and bad).

@ Scoria: the merchant is overjoyed, stating I shall be a man who stares at this goat for hours. Oh joy! He then disappears into the crowd, leaving his disgruntled assistant to man the stall.

You catch sight of Aesrick Battlehorn, head of the local carpenter's guild, who waves as he sees you. The old dwarf has no head for stone (quite rare amongst his people) but his crew's wooden scaffolds and support beams made your stonework possible.

I'm assuming that everyone who is able is checking the thread or is using the RSS feed to be alerted of new posts. We're down a few players due to Gencon/personal business this weekend too, so if I haven't heard from someone in a few days I'm not that worried. If everyone hasn't sounded off by midweek I may start with the concerned PM's just to confirm continued interest in playing.

@ Grigore: Pratus' husband (a fit man in his early 30's named Brighton) winks knowingly at you. He's just toying with her, Grigore. They've been going for ten minutes and he hasn't even worked up a sweat. Ulfen brute! True to Brighton's words, Pratus looks fresh and virtually unscathed, while the Ulfen woman gasps for air, clearly favoring the right side of her torso, no doubt sporting a fractured rib or two. Just as your coin reaches the bookie's hand, Pratus ducks a vicious roundhouse blow and counters with a thundering uppercut which takes the huge foreigner off her feet and down to the ground, where she stays for several minutes.

There's a murmur of surprise from some, scattered applause from others. A disgruntled man next to you, obviously having bet on the wrong side, shakes his head sadly and says quietly to his friend That's NOT supposed to happen in Golarion!

Pratus spies you in the crowd and greets you with a handshake. Grigore! Good to see you! Maybe this one has a sister you'd like to fight? The Ulfen woman is being helped to her feet by two of her countrymen, who are looking darkly at Pratus. You made two silver on the fight, as well!

@ Brevyre: Father Zanthus greets you warmly. Hello, Brevyre! It's good to see you, especially today. Yes, I am ready to fulfill all my duties, as must all who serve their Gods Looking around for a moment, he leans in closer. Brevyre, though I say nothing to these others, I feel an ill intent in the wind today, and my dreams last night were not of peace, but they were dark, dreams of blood and trials. You are known for your strong sword arm and ceaseless vigilance, young friend, so I must ask of you a favour: stay vigilant today, and warn your bretheren to stay alert. While the town guard grows lax with the festivities, my heart darkens further. With that he claps you on the shoulder and walks calmly towards the cathedral; no doubt yet more preparations lay ahead for the swallowtail release.

@ Scoria: Even without the painting, you draw much attention from the locals, in particular the children, who seem fascinated with the look of your skin and the crystals embedded in you.

Scoria:
You find an older Osirian merchant who seems interested in the painting. His eyes open wide when he sees it. Where did you get this? It is horrible, yet ..... fascinating! I feel like I could stare at it for hours! I must have it! I offer you 50 gold for this .... fascinating work of art!

@ Digger:

Spoiler:
You notice Trixie subtly subtly reach into the lovely redheaded dancers bowl and remove several coins which have been tossed in by the appreciative audience. Seeing you, she freezes for a moment, before a sly smile dances on her lips. She blows you a kiss and tries to disappear into the crowd.

Apologies for the delay, guys, my wife and I had a little scare with our baby's health but everything is now okay. Thanks very much for your patience and understanding!

The crowd has gathered around the raised dias to hear the welcoming speeches. First up is the mayor, Kendra Deverin, a petite brunette in her early thirties whose presence belies her small size. The crowd first hushes as she addresses them, welcoming citizens and visitors alike to Sandpoint on this important and momentous day. The crowd laughs and claps at the appropriate points, getting caught up in the mayors enthusiasm and energy, and ends with a great cheer as she ends her speech.

Next up is sheriff Hemlock, who succeeds in bringing the energy of the crowd down to disgruntled silence as he reminds everyone to stay safe, keep an eye on their purses and in particular to PLEASE be careful around the planned bonfire that night. The whole square joins him in a moment of silence for the victims of the fire that destroyed Sandpoint's original cathedral five years ago, however, and Hemlock leaves the stage to respectful applause from the crowd.

Cyrak Drokkus, owner and director of the Sandpoint Theatre, is next to take to the dias, which he treats as a stage as he delivers an entertaining monologue regarding his part in the financing and construction of the new cathedral. He throws in a plug for his upcoming show - apparently featuring the lovely and talented Magnimarian actress Allishandra. He ends by inviting all to visit his theatre and see the show.

Last up is Father Zantus, a bearded, middle aged man who exudes warmth and peace. His friendly, down to earth manner pleases the crowd, as does the brevity of his speech, which ends with a declaration that the Swallowtail festival has officially begun!

It's a couple of hours until noon, when the actual swallowtail release happens. Several vendors have set up, hawking their wares in the town square. Local and visiting chefs are preparing lunch - which is free to all - and some are selling breakfast as well. Several performers have begun - a juggler, several acrobats, a couple of singers and several dancers - most notably, a lovely young redhead has attracted a great deal of attention, dancing sensually and accompanied only by the measured beat of her finger cymbals. A small circle has formed around a bareknuckles boxing match, pitting a large, black-haired ulfen woman against a smaller Varisian local man named Pratus, known around town for his quick fists and acerbic sense of humour. Pratus' husband is the loudest of the gathered onlookers, cheering loudly for his man and wincing visibly when he takes a blow.

You've got a couple of hours to kill before the noontime swallowtail release - and the free food!

Sorry guys, had a little family emergency yesterday afternoon. Will be back home later today and post. apologies again!

@ Scoria: The sheriff looks at the painting again for a moment, then replies: There's a few places which might have interest in that ... work of art. The feathered serpent, down on Rum street, might be the first place I'd try - Voon is often interested in the stranger items people bring him. Maybe Ven's general store, just off water street? If that fails, maybe one of the inns would take it as a dartboard or something, or try your luck on one of the market days. Hells, with all the merchants coming for the festival, you might as well see if anyone at the bazaar in the cathedral square would want it.

@ Digger: Hemlocks eyes narrow a bit as he replies: Not married, Digger, for the thousandth time. Oh, how are the folks? Give them my thanks for raising such an upstanding fellow.

It looks like the mayor is approaching the podium for what will no doubt be a rousing speech!

Sheriff Hemlock shakes Erynion's hand. Welcome, sir, you've arrived in our little town in it's finest hour. Enjoy the festival!

Turning again to Grigore, Hemlock says Grigore, I know you've had this day booked off forever, and I don't begrudge you your time off, but if you can, keep your eyes open for trouble, okay? He says this while looking pointedly at Digger.

The sheriff is about to walk away when he notices Scoria. Hello, Scoria! Thanks to you and your fellow craftsmen, our town rises like a phoenix from the..... He cuts off when he sees the painting you are carrying. He seems about to say something, then claps his mouth shut and walks away briskly, shaking his head.

It is still fairly early, so the welcoming speeches have yet to be given. That hasn't stopped the crowd for getting lively and large, however - the whole day is going to be one huge party!

As you approach the crowd, you see Sheriff Hemlock talking to a couple members of the Militia. He turns, seeing first Grigore and Brevyre, and gives a nod of acknowledgement. He then sees Digger, and his face turns dour. He walks up to your group and sizes you up. Interesting company you're keeping, Grigore! And Brevyre, too, I see! Who are your new friends?

@ Scoria: A young human child - no more than five or six years old, you'd guess - walks up to you with wide eyes. Are you a golem? he asks, looking you up and down and reaching out to touch your skin. Seeing the painting, he asks What's that? Eewww, gross! That's a yucky thing to paint!

@ Digger:

Spoiler:
You see a familiar face among the crowd - a young, raven haired girl you know only as Trixie. You've run into her a few times - or, rather, she's run into you, and countless others, trying to cut their purse strings and empty their pockets. She seems to be trying to keep a low profile, and today would be perfect for someone of her unique talents to ply their trade.

The gameplay thread is now open!

The first day of autumn dawns red over the town of Sandpoint, though it is little remarked upon, save by the most superstitious of local wags. And how could there be any ill omens on this day - today is the Swallowtail festival! The long awaited dedication of the new cathedral has been the talk of the town for months. And a grand edifice it is - shrines to the four major dieties worshipped locally, plus smaller shrines to other goodly religions, with spires that reach to the heavens, remarkable and durable stonework, and beautiful stained glass windows that illustrate the precepts of each religion.

Church street and the square in front of the cathedral are thick with residents, visitors, merchants, entertainers and more, all awaiting the beginning of the festivities. The excitement is thick in the air, along with the scent of exotic foreign foods and the perfumes of the noble ladies.

Your party appears, without flash or fanfare, in a narrow alley off of High Street. You hear the murmur of the assembling crowd in the vicinity of the cathedral. All your wounds are healed, spells and other consumables restored. The day is yours, adventurers! What would you like to do first?

@ Brevyre:

Spoiler:
The red potion is a potion of Bull's Strength, and the mauve potion is Remove Paralysis.

@ Brevyre :

Spoiler:
Both potions radiate magic; to identify their specific properties, you'll need either a DC 17 spellcraft check, or a DC 17 perception check. Anyone else can also attempt the perception roll, too.

As you gingerly open the box, it radiates a golden light, then pops open to reveal it's treasures!

Everyone gets 229 xp!
A red potion pops out!
A mauve potion pops out!
212 gold pieces pop out!
A painting of an obviously male goat, lying in a seductive pose, and framed in fine wood with a gold veneer, pops out!

Okay, based on what I'm hearing, I'm going to start putting the combat maps on the campaign info page to make them easier to find - combing through multiple pages of the thread to find the link isn't very fun!

In addition, maybe everyone could post some guidelines as to what they'd want their characters to do in combat if I have to DMPC them. Just general things, like a preference between engaging and pulling back, targets to go after, etc would be helpful!

After Grigore's action, there is only silence. Then, the voice booms out:You ... you killed Wilbur! How could you? Thou hast lost an eighth!!

Miraculously, the huge goat clambers up to its feet, shakes its head, and appears completely unharmed. You're in my playground now, two-legs! Wilbur is one of my favored pets - there's no way I'd let you kill him!

The huge goat turns and starts to wander away, stopping only to fart, long and loud, in Grigore's direction.

Cheeky old beast! Anyways, you guys passed my test - you're ready for an adventure! Here's some loot and some experience to pay you back for taking part in this experiment. I'll be seeing you all again. Some maybe sooner than others.....

A large box, blue in colour and topped with a pink bow, appears before you. Close by, a large table, filled with quality food and drink, and with comfortable, cushioned chairs, pops into being.

Thanks to all for taking part in this mock combat. I think it went well - you overcame 4 CR 1/2 critters and a CR 2 goon in a quick and efficient manner. I would like your feedback on what went well, and what didn't. When we start the adventure proper, I'd like us to be running through combats with an even greater level of efficiency.

I'm planning to have your boots back on Sandpoint ground by or before this wednesday at 0900 my time. At that point, the AP will begin; I'll open a gateway for you so you can enjoy the Swallowtail festival. No doubt, it will be a day of fun and relaxation. What could go wrong, on a day where the Gods themselves are being honoured with a new cathedral?

Until then, check out the box of goodies the goat has left for you, and feel free to roleplay a bit in the hypostyle. It's perfectly safe here, and the food and drink are safe and delicious.

@ Brevyre:

Spoiler:
Despite it's very human-like surrender, the goat isn't displaying any further glimmers of intellect. It's waddled over to the unconscious alpha goat, sniffing at the sleeping giant.

Digger is out of position to feint any goats. It doesn't matter though - the remaining goat (Goat B) sits down on it's rump and raises it's hooves in the air, a gesture of surrender. You all hear a voice in your heads: You have done well, bipeds! Better than I thought! I salute you, and acknowledge your victory, and ask only that you not hurt my babies any further. You shall be rewarded for your mercy! This is certainly not any sort of ploy or trap!

Okay, Calkin is up next.....

He blasts Goat C with Ear Piercing Scream. Even if the goat were to make his save, he'd be going down under the damage. Goat C is down!

@ Scoria - you'd have to charge to get at the Alpha Goat, given your move speed of 20'. While it's never stated expressly in the rules that a charge must be a straight line, I've always played it that way. To get at the alpha goat, you'd have to make a 5' step up to N22, then charge. Of course, you can't take a 5' step before charging.

However, in the interests of speed (and in recognition of the victuals you have proferred) we'll let you make that 5' step and then charge the alpha.

Unarmed Strike, Bless: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 3 + 1 = 18

Unarmed Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Your mighty blow sends the alpha to the dirt, dreaming of dancing goatlings.

Digger is up next!

I offer a bag of empty tin cans and torn, used underwear. Do I get a bonus to combat? :P

I'm sure your gift will make a goat somewhere happy! Though elegant goats prefer only the choicest, clean underwears :-)

Goat B goes after the only wounded target in range - Thorjar!

Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Thorjar shoves aside the Goats' attack with his shield, however!

Tranche E is up next! After dinner, that is! The DM must feed!

Okay, I'll act for Thorjar then.....

Seeing that Grigore is in a flanking position, Thorjar turns his attention to Goat B, striking with his waraxe!

Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Damage: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Thorjar lands a glancing blow on Goat B!

The goats are up next!

Grigore the Goat Slayer!

He's not dead! He's just sleeping :-)

Grigore throws his efforts into taking down his foe, then hurries over to help Thorjar.

Punch Goat A, Bless, Naturalist 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21

Damage 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Standard: Punch Goat A

Move: To H-20, flanking with Thorjar. (If Goat A isn't dead, this provokes an AoO)

Effects: Bless (+1 morale to attack and fear saves), Naturalist (+1 to attack, saves, and AC vs regular goats). AC: 21 vs regular, 20 vs Alpha)

With the sad little bleat, the goat drops to the floor, then rolls onto his back. His tongue rolls out of his mouth, and he has little x's for eyes :-(

After beating up the little goat, Grigore moves to H20, goat B is now flanked.

Thorjar is up next!

Erynion casts grease under the feet of the Alpha Goat! The spell greases I18-19, and J18-19. Will the Goat slip, or be sure footed? DC 14 to find out...

Ref save vs DC 14: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14

Sure footed beast! He makes his save and keeps his footing!

Grigore is up next!

Brevyre takes a 5 foot step to the goat and swings at it

Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Brevyre's attack on Goat C misses!

The Alpha Goat is next! He rears up like a horse, and brings his horns down on Thorjar!

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Damage: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

The Alpha Goat hits! He gets just past Thorjars shield, striking the stout dwarf in the chest!

Clump C is up!

EDIT: I shall now call them "tranches" instead of clumps, in keeping with the elegant nature of this game :-)

Round Three! Initiative order:

A) Brevyre 20
B) Alpha Goat 17
C) Erynion 16
C) Grigore 15
C) Thorjar 15
D) Goats A-B 10 (C is dazed and cannot act this round)
E) Calkin 9
E) Scoria 5
E) Digger 5

Brevyre is up first!

DM_MadGoat wrote:

Okay, I'm going to act for Calkin....

Calkin 5 foot steps to P24. He then casts Ear-Piercing Scream (DC 17) at Goat C!

Damage: 1d6
Goat's fort save vs daze effect and for half damage:1d20+5

The save fails! Goat C stumbles around a bit, clearly disoriented. He'll miss his next turn due to the dazed condition. He also looks like he's on his last legs.

Round two is done!

If goat D is still standing by Scoria's turn, she'll attack it with a full round Flurry of Blows:

Flurry 1 Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Flurry 2 Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Goat D drops to the ground, a little marching band of stars parading around his head. He's out cold, and done for this fight!

Since goat D has dropped, Scoria's second blow is directed against Goat C, but he shows a little dexterity of his own, moving out of the way of her punch!

Digger goes next.....

Digger pops out to take a shot at the goat nearest him. (To do that, you'll need to take a 5 foot step to D25 to target Goat A)

Shot: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6
sneak attack damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1

Digger's arrow flies high, and to the left, and keeps going, hitting nothing of note :-(

Calkin is up next!

EDIT: With the naturalist bonus from Erynion, Scoria's second flurry attack against goat C hits! Now he's a poor little goat with a bloody nose! Hope you feel proud of yourself now, biped!!! screams a voice in your head.

Calkin is still up next.

Grigore the Grim wrote:
Heads up that Thorjar's confirmation roll is actually a 14 with Bless, 15 with the Monster Hunter trait if Alpha is a magical beast or aberration. Does that confirm?

Blast! All these bonuses! Still, a 14 would miss, even with the Alpha at -2 due to his charge. Good call though, thanks. Need to think of a way to ensure I'm not missing bonuses, like the bless and bonuses to your AC, like in Scoria's case. Ideas are welcome!

Goat A goes after Grigore with it's sharp-ish teeth!

Attack roll: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Damage roll: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

The goat's attack fails miserably!

Goat B moves up to I20 and tries to bite Thorjar!

Attack roll: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
Damage roll: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Thorjar wards off the blood-mad beast with his shield!

Goat C moves up to O22 to help his friend! He bites at Scoria...

Attack roll: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Damage roll: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

....who counters deftly with an Osae Uki, easily deflecting the goats head.

Seeing his friend fail, Goat D decides to try his luck against the strange, salt-lick looking biped.

Attack roll: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Damage roll: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Scoria easily blocks the second goat attack, pushing it's clumsy attack away.

Clump E (Scoria, Calkin, and Digger) are up next!

Okay, I'm going to post for Thorjar, just to keep things moving.....

Thorjar yells something appropriately Dwarvish and belligerent, then brings his waraxe down on the Alpha Goat!

Attack roll: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Damage roll: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Crit confirm: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

The crit does not confirm, unfortunately :-(

Thorjar's axe catches the Alpha Goat on the head, but is only a glancing blow against it's thick skull.

Next up: the goats strike back!

Okay round two so far:

Brevyre acts first, casting shield of faith on Scoria, who now has an AC of 17 vs the regular goats.

The Alpha Goat is up next! Snorting like a bull, it charges forward at Thorjar, trying to use his large, curved horns to gore you!

Attack roll: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Damage roll: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Thorjar stops the Alpha Goat cold, bringing his shield up and meeting it's horns with a deafening CRACK! The Alpha is -2 to AC until his next turn.

Erynion makes a 5 foot step to I24, but his bow attack on goat B misses. The goat gives you a long, wet raspberry in response!

Grigore takes a trained fighter's route to D19, then lays a heavy clout to the side of Goat A's head!

Standard: Attack Goat A with cestus, Bardic Music, Bless, fighting defensively 1d20 + 5 + 1 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (18) + 5 + 1 + 1 - 4 = 21

Damage 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Goat A is now the proud owner of a big goose egg, but is still standing!

Thorjar is up next!

@ Thorjar - you don't detect any evil in the creature! It's either of animal intelligence, or a non-evil entity that has somehow been turned aggressive.

The goats are up!

Goat A makes a double move to E18.
Goat B moves to I16 and readies an action against approach.
Goat C makes a double move to O18.
Goat D makes a double move to N22.

Calkin casts mage armor upon himself, getting a +4 bonus to AC

Scoria moves to N23, confronting Goat D. She then punches him!

Unarmed Strike: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22

Unarmed Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

The goat is momentarily knocked to its knees, before getting back up and shaking itself off!

Digger disappears into the shadows, having gone into stealth mode.

Round One is done!

Time to start round two! Brevyre is up!

Thorjar is up!

@ Grigore - I'd prefer to move your characters myself after you declare actions, just out of organizational OCD, more than anything else :-)

Erynion begins his naturalist bardic performance: everyone within 30 feet gets a +1 to hit and a +1 AC (insight bonus) vs the regular goats. Digger, Grigore, Erynion himself, Throjar, Scoria and Brevyre get this bonus.

Grigore, you're up!

Durrr, missed Brevyre's action.

Brevyre casts bless (just reaching Digger) giving everyone a +1 to hit and +1 vs fear (morale bonus).

Next up ...... Alpha Goat!

The Alpha Goat moves forward 30 feet (occupying J 12 and 13) and roars! It readies and action against approach.

Clump C is up next. Scanning thread for declared actions.....

Okay! Everyone is set - here's the order of action, the letters indicate if you're in a cluster, where first to post equals first to act:

A) Brevyre 20
B) Alpha Goat 17
C) Erynion 16
C) Grigore 15
C) Thorjar 15
D) Goats A-D 10
E) Calkin 9
E) Scoria 5
E) Digger 5

Brevyre is up first, and hasn't declared his action yet.

@ everyone - while placing your characters, you can and should declare actions and roll any needed dice. It will help!

Everyone is hiding behind the columns :-)

Two people have yet to place themselves - Thorjar and Calkin. I'll give em a little while longer, then I'll place them on the map, probably behind a column, if you guys have left any space for them :-)

In your heads, Digger and Erynion hear an indignant voice: Raving anti-goatites! It shall be my brood who feed, on your undearwears! HAH HAH HAH

@ Erynion - since these are animals, it would be a knowledge - nature check (DC 6). The Alpha Goat is DC 16.

Erynion:
They appear to be regular goats, painted black. The sharper then normal fangs appear to be dentures of some sort, maybe ivory? The red eyes and the growling are mysterious, however. They probably aren't any tougher than normal goats, though they could probably give a nasty bite. The alpha goat is a mystery as well - but hes much bigger than you'd expect a normal goat to be. And it's eyes - a hint of intelligence?

Errrr ...trying to put Digger behind a column but I can't figure out how to edit ...do I need to wait for my initiative?

I have turned on editing! Apologies!

To make a little character for yourself, choose your square, then right click and choose insert comment. Type your character name and hit enter, and you've tagged yourself. To make yourself blue, click on your square, choose text background color and choose the blue on the second row down. I like the good guys to be blue :-)

@ everyone: Mock combat time!

There is a peal of thunder, and a blinding white light. You feel like you have travelled a great distance....

You find yourselves in a great hall, filled with columns, arranged in rows, reaching up to the crimson sky. You've no time to examine your surroundings closer; you hear heavy, measured footsteps, echoing throughout the hall, and getting closer.

Emerging from behind the columns are several goats. Their black fur, red eyes, and sharp-ish teeth mark them as no ordinary animals, however. They look at you with malicious intent, dropping into action-ready poses .... and growling!

You hear a gravelly voice inside your heads "Ooooh, you're in for it now, bipeds! I've made sure those goats haven't been fed in two or three hours ... they hunger!!!! They must feed! And you are the only source of underwear around!"

Here's the combat map:

Your characters should be placed in the gray zone - please post and let me know. Initiative is as follows:

Goats A-D 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
Alpha Goat 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Grigore 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Thorjar 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Brevyre 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Scoria 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Digger 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Erynion 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Calkin 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Go get em, team!!!

Just wanted to let everyone know that I may be in and out over the next few days. I am located in Northern California and we are having a major fire in the area. PG&E will be turning power off at times to accommodate the fire crews working near power lines. Hopefully things get better and I should be 100% within a few days.

I'm sorry to hear about that :-( I hope you and yours remain safe during what sounds like a very scary time.

I'm planning a mock combat shortly, I'll DMPC your sorcerer until your return.

@ Brevyre - just to clarify - is your archon subdomain from the good or law domain? It can be a subdomain of either, and you don't note which major domains you chosen. I'm assuming good.

Also, including your domain abilities on your sheet would be helpful. From what I can tell, you should be noting that your channel energy is +2 DC when used vs undead, touch of glory and touch of good abilities.

Also, maybe note your domain spells on your sheet? The notation spellcasters use in my home games looks like this:

Divine spellcasting - CL 1st, concentration +4, penetration +0
Level 0 (DC 13) - choose 3 per day
Level 1 (DC 14) - 2+1 Domain spells divine favor or shield of faith

Otherwise, your cleric is looking good!

Ill fix my stats sorry. Which one of those init bonuses does not belong?

Grigore was just noting that your initiative bonus should be +2 due to you having the "reactionary" trait. You have it listed on your character sheet, but you have your init bonus as being 0.
