Sadly, only humans of a given racial ethnicity get "regional" languages for free. So a Varisian Human gets Varisian for free, but a Halfling from Varisia does not.

Ok, I wasn't sure about that. Doesn't make sense to me, but I suppose it's probably intended to balance out the power of the races.

So... I would require an additional linguistics point in order to read modern Osiriani, and will therefore simply have to rely on linguistic rolls to get me by until 2nd level =)

Sounds good.

Edit: Also... I just realized that with my int bonus (+2) I'll be able to pick up Osiriani and another language (though I'll still need to spend the skill point on linguistics since Ancient Osiriani isn't available as a bonus language).

Thank you for all the responses!

I've decided to use a linguistics skill point to take Ancient Osiriani.

Since I'm from the region, I should get common and Osiriani for free, and since I'm a halfling, I should get halfling language for free.

I'll then take the trait I wanted right from the start (Lettered) from the Halflings of Golarion, as well as the Tomb Raider campaign trait.

I intend to play a halfling sorcerer who is a researcher/smuggler of Ancient Osirion relics.

Incidentally... when we load our characters onto the site, is there a spot for our character's backstory as well?

I've read this thread, but still have a question (for PFS play).

Do I need to take the trait "Osirionologist (Regional)" from the Inner Sea Primer in order to gain access to Ancient Osirioni, and then pick it up with a high intelligence score, or can I just put a point into linguistics and pick up a different trait?

If its a PDF then it's fine :P the biggest concern is having the resource available. Obviously if it's a PDF you can just print two copies of it, or have an ereader and a print, or two ereaders, or whatever.

Thanks for being such an honest and lawful PFS player :P

My OOC is definitely lawful stupid... er... good.

In game, that's another matter entirely =)

Awesome! That's great to know. Many Thanks!

Hello!

I have a question. Keep in mind that I am Completely new to PFS, and relatively new to Pathfinder.

Can partners, husbands/wives, common law, take your pick, share a resource book for PFS?

It just seems a little silly to purchase two of every PDF we plan to use. I understand that Paizo has good reason to want players to purchase their product, as any business would, but do they make concessions for players in the same household?

Look forward to your feedback!
