I unfortunately might have to pull out of this as well.

I really like the complex and challenging encounters the GM sets up, but right now, several of them really play into some of the crippling weaknesses I have at this point in the game (no ability to take Precise Shot yet, limited spells, or more recently, a permanent 50% miss chance).

As a result, I really have felt like a permanent burden of the party for much of this game so far, unable to really contribute much of anything. Its not really a positive mindset to have, and its unfortunately not conducive to good roleplaying.

Sorry guys :(

Cordelia frowns at the mans statement. "So how then do the Pirates know they know which ships are coming from Cessport then? It almost implies that someone is providing them with advanced information - especially if our ship escaped notice."

Inwardly thrilled at finally experiencing some success, as well as some extreme satisfaction at hurting the leader that had nullified her previous attempts via healing magic, Cordelia attempts yet another spell, hoping to achieve a similar result.

Attack Snowball: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Cordelia launches another Snowball - this time at the Lead sahuagin

Yeah I might sit this combat out. I'm already down half my spells and haven't added any value.

Are the slides correct that they are about 125~ feet away? If so, I might have to delay (or wait for the boat to move closer depending on how fast it moves) as they are too far out of range for me to realistically attack them.

I might get a larger post up a little later but I tend to agree that Fair Lands Pirate Raids might be the best mission. I'm just a little hesitant considering how much of a beating we took taking the last pirate ship.

Cordelia glances at the unconscious Blood Queen for a brief moment before turning her attention elseware. "We could potentially bind her and then chat to her. She had quite the crew with her, and she might possess some information that could be useful to us. Unlikely, but sometimes you never know until you ask" she offers.

Ye I'm a little concerned that it feels like the encounter was built without respect to the party that was going through it. Case in point - basically all our ranged characters having to sit the combat out because it was run as a full melee encounter for a level 1 party - at a point where Precise Shot isn't easily available or where casters have particularly low resources. With less enemies (or the party being at a higher level) this encounter is much less of a slog and more 'winnable'.

If this encounter serves to bounce us to Level 2 via XP straight away I'd understand, but then we probably should have just started the game at Level 2 (or even Level 3 considering the difficulty of this encounter) instead of a three month encounter that half the party cannot realistically contribute to.

That wand is nice, but its not worth stepping into the fray for as I still cannot really use that wand in combat. I can't hit them with ranged touch attacks - I'll have an even lower chance to hit them with a melee touch attack with equally high penalties to hit (with the disadvantage of having to stand in melee range as a squishy caster).

Holding action a little to see if Repeller current surrounded kicks the bucket. If he does, the path ahead towards the other ship is clear and I'll have Cordelia move in that direction. If he doesn't die and is still up, I'll have to do something different since my movement would otherwise provoke. I'm last in init order anyway though.

Ok- the first combat is up.

You guys can decide if you are swimming/in a rowboat, how to split the rowboats and where you want to try to pilot those boats, but someone will need to be making Profession (sailor) checks in a boat to steer it, so I know you may need a while deciding how to align yourselves before starting.

I suppose I was envisioning one rowboat going to try to board each ship, but you might want different tactics than that.

Do we have to use the rowboats?

What about those of us that can swim under their own power?

EDIT

Moot point I think since we arrived but worth thinking about for next time.

Cordelia makes a mental note to check out the runes and enchantments on the boat itself later if she gets the chance. While the magic itself would be useful in making the boat go faster, she might learn something that might improve her own magic in the future.

For now though, she is content to stand on an elevated portion of the deck, standing towards the front of the boat if she could as she gazes forward, trying to spot the pirate ship up ahead.

"That was the original plan suggested by Markus" Cordelia remarks, nodding in the mans direction before addressing Shad once again. "I think the prince just stated though that we need not worry about be pretending to be merchants - we can simply catch up with them when they are in the process of attaching a different ship. There is no need for subterfuge in this case."

Cordelia is quiet for a moment before frowning. "I can swim but I climbing isn't really my strong suit so I couldn't swim across and then climb up onto their ship. I'll either need to cross from ship to ship or stay on the Hippogriff's Eye and attack from range."

Would it be a climb check involved to board another ship GM from the water?

Cordelia waits for a gap in the introductions, before she stands again, having sat down when the Prince had begun his speech. She had already introduced herself to the prince, but not to anyone else so she directs her comments in general to the room. "I'm Cordelia, from the Kailani kingdom. Ordering a drink, Cordelia sips quietly reflecting that there was a great collection of different races here but most of the individuals were new to her. Deciding that she could at least introduce herself to the Prince, if nothing else, she swiftly crosses the room before half bowing to the three gilmen.
