![]() As the posts for this campaign seem to have died down and with the recent wave of both player drop-outs and the end of summer fast approaching I am sad to have to inform you that this campaign will have to come to an end. However, as mentioned in my other dropped campaign, I regularly restart new campaigns and anyone wishing to fill up their PbP schedule can keep an eye on the Recruitment page for my two future campaigns. I apologize to those who were frequent posters and if you see my campaign posted, mention who you were n my other campaign and I'll see to it that you get a place if possible. ![]()
![]() The seas around you are unknown to your trained eyes. The waves crash against the ship, beating like the heart of some deep ocean leviathan. Nevertheless, the skies are clear and the tiniest glimpse of land can be seen far off in the distance. No smoke rises from the spit of earth, and no sounds can be heard. ![]()
![]() I will be going into the woods for a week or so on a camping trip. This means that I highly doubt I will have access to internet. I apologize for this delay in everyone's gaming schedules and I hope to be back before you know it! P.S. If bears devour me, give a short prayer to Cayden Cailean for me eh? ![]()
![]() Winds often bear the faint hint of adventure, born aloft by the breeze and carried throughout the world. The very wind that now drives the sails of your proud vessel forward towards the mists leading off into the unknown. As the morning sun soon rises into a noontime position, the world seems to stand still, except for the Mistwall coming ever closer. Sailors pray on their knees and soon, your ship passes through the mist... You emerge on the other side of the mists... Yet, the sun hangs low in the sky, almost sunset. The ocean behind you, showing no trace of mists, and no recognizable features, islands or shapes to be seen. A gull sporting black plumage drifts overhead, swooping lazily around the ship. All eyes turn to the Officers (you), awaiting a sign, an answer, a reassurance. ![]()

Gm if you are unhappy with this I'll retcon it but thought it wasn't unlikely given the situation. Actually, this is the sort of thing I love. ![]()

I'm sorry to hear that but I understand how overload gets. I myself am GMing 3 and playing in 1. Good luck mate. ![]()
![]() No worries, guys. In fact, take a day or two to RP some fun character interactions in town. Last Point is a pirate shanty rife with plenty of opportunities. Feel free to improvise. If you need/want ideas, let me know. As well, as soon as we reach the Uncharted Edge we'll be knee deep in everything from brackish swamps and ancient ruins to savage jungles and cursed shipwrecks. Much less on the ship itself. ![]()
![]() Last Point in sight! You slowly come to see Last Point in plain sight. The battered Lighthouse standing proudly as the bright sunlight and the swooping seagulls guides you into the harbor. Connor Whalend comes out from belowdecks. "Well, it seems we are nearing the edge of the world my friends. I suggest you each take a good long last breath here, leave behind your parting words and shop for anything you need before we dissapear off into the uncharted oceans." Last Point has a purchase limit of 2000 ![]()

With superior sailing skills and the help of everyone, the RSS Paradiso deftly catches the wind and speeds up, leaving the other ship far behind and out of sight. All the rules are from the Skull & Shackles Player's Guide ![]()
![]() Sails on the Horizon Evasion and Pursuit:
Evasion and Pursuit On the wide, open sea, one ship can spot another from miles away, making it virtually impossible to surprise another ship. If both ships want to engage in combat, the ships close with one another and begin ship-to-ship combat normally. If one ship wants to avoid combat, however, a chase ensues. At the GM’s discretion, a faster ship can always catch a slower ship, but even slow ships can take advantage of favorable winds, currents, or coastal terrain to make good their escape. When two ships first encounter one another, the pilots of the two ships must make three opposed sailing checks. Whichever pilot wins at least two out of three of the opposed checks is victorious. If the pursuing ship wins, it catches up to the f leeing ship and ship-to-ship combat begins. If the f leeing ship wins, it escapes. If the result is a tie, the pilots should begin a new series of three opposed checks. Will either Mr. Kerbouchard or Captain Grasskator please make three Profession (sailor) checks. Ship on the Horizon's Sailing Checks:
1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20 As well, this is just a general warning I'm making in all my PbP. My schedule is going to be wonky for the next week or so as I'm staying with my dad. Don't be afraid if I miss a day or two. I'll let you all know when I'm back at home. Cheers. ![]()
![]() Day 6
Mathurin: If you beat DC 25 on Profession (sailor) you can regain your lost day. ![]()
![]() I'll update the next day (it's rather special) tomorrow evening, but your combined efforts have made it that you do NOT require the expenditure of potions of endure elements this day. (Keep those, seriously) The crew manages to deal with the day in perfect conditions thanks to everyone's work so no one takes nonlethal damage. ![]()
![]() Day 5
I leave it to you to figure out how to solve this problem of heat and exhaustion. If I deem your plan sufficient there will be no penalties. ![]()
![]() Day 4
Delmar Only: During your sleep between Days 3 and 4, you fall into a deep and vivid dream. You find yourself on a spit of rock surrounded by ocean, the gale winds buffeting your body. Salty sea water washes onto the spit of rock making standing a veritable challenge. There before you, you see a dark shape looming in the water, sharklike in appearance. A voice whispers in your head the same phrase over and over again: "Deep does he wait." You wake up, the whispers still ringing in your ears. ![]()

- Everyone (I assume) passes their checkup with the ship's doctor. - The RSS Paradiso is still on track. Day 3

![]() Summary of Day 1
- Mathurin, you manage to keep the ship and a true heading and yes, you can always call out to a swab to hold the wheel for a fair bit while you need to spend time alone. - To all who hadn't noticed, your cook is a goblin named Pickles. He appreciates all comments about his food. Day 2

Be careful with how you write out your actions, don't assume NPC reactions. These are highly trained sailors aboard. Don't want to get them thinking you know better than they do. xD ![]()
![]() Part I: The Last Known Heading
As the last of the supplies are boarded upon the RSS Paradiso and stored in their various storage rooms and in the hold, the crew is gathered up from wherever they had spent their time in Saltport. "Come on lads, the Captain will be waiting!" Connor shouts out to everyone. As the crew begins readying the ship for departure, Connor takes all of you aside into his personal cabin. "I'm glad I managed to find such a fine crew. You all seem like the most capable men I could have aboard and I'd not have it any other way. I hope each one of you is alright with his or her position aboard the ship. Remember though, everyone is equal aboard the ship and I highly suggest that the Captain pay attention the rest of the crew's opinions." Now, as to our destination. We are going to start by making a heading directly west to Last Point, a penal island at the each of the known waters. We'll be able to restock on the food we used as well as any other minor items we need to purchase. Now, the journey shouldn't be too difficult but we need to be at the ready in case of pirate attacks or storms and the like." "From there, we sail directly into the Mistwall and then... well, who knows. No one has ever returned. So, I suggest everyone find his or her place aboard the ship and we will be underway!" As for how this will work, every day we will advance by a day of sailing. Each day, simply write what you will be doing and then you may RP with the rest of the expedition. Encounters will be written when they occur. You are free to RP with NPCs as well. Below is the example we start with. Day 1
