"I will provide whatever support I can from here captain. Please minimize your exposure to the environment. Even with protective gear it is dangerous."
Commander Xin-Yalix reviews his scan results as the ship's new engineer and captain talk.
sorry guys, my mental health has not been great the last few weeks. Between worrying about my dad's health, my health, general news, and work, I have been stressing out all over the place and not finding any motivation at all.
Is it time to roll another extended task?
Commander Xin-Yalix replies to the comm. "Captain, I suspect the enabler is a subspace -- 'sandbar' for lack of a better term. At the least it is the likely source of the tetryon radiation which appears to accompany the virus." Xin-Yalix looks over where his initial warp probe calculations are displayed. "We have a potential solution to the sandbar in progress using the Amity's probes to abrade the sandbar away."
With the issue with the escaping shuttle temporarily neutralized, Xin goes back to working with the ship's computer on a simulation of the probe positioning.
"Commander. The vessel is a small one, and unless the pilot takes ridiculous risks, we should easily be able to outrun them. There are 20 lifeforms on board, all Tellarite, though I suspect that it is over-capacity at the minimum." Xin rub his chin. "If anything, it might be pushing their luck that they could even make it to another habitable space before their life-support gives out." "At that size, T'sai, be careful when you target the engines, such a small ship cannot absorb much damage."
Xin quickyl scans the vessel, not only for people who are infected, but also for anything else suspicious.
"Commander Cooper, what is our present probe count? Warp-capable only please. It might be possible, if we properly synch enough warp-engines together, we might be able to erode away the sub-space 'sandbar' through abrasion."
Taking some time to center himself, Xin prepares for a long session of subspace theorizing. Though he doesn't seem it, Xin is happy to be getting into the old-fashioned kind of science.
"Aye, Captain" Xin will begin researching the sandbar, starting at the most recent articles the computer might have, and working his way back. His first pass goal is to try to see if anyone has a source for the sandbar or a way to disrupt them.
After the ship scan Commander Xin will scan the planet in detail, to see if there is any greater concentration of the tetryon radiation aside from the infected.
"Captain, I am detecting tetryon radiation from the infected, and in lesser amounts from the away team. This is impossible under normal conditions, so something far more unusual than a plague is happening."
Sorry about that, I had a number of issues come up simultaneously and left me unable to respond for a while.
"Apologies Captain, I was attempting to focus the equipment."
Janet Maxwell, hits her wrist com. "Doctor K'Rist, I have noted one of the filaments encroaching into my own body. Please advise."
Janet quickly scans herself, and immediately sends the findings to K'Rist.

Xin-Yalix scans the Orion ship, attempting in particular to get its readiness state.
Xin-Yalix is glued to his sensor counsel. At this stage they are at coincidence, but it doesn't feel like it is going to stay that way to him. While he waits for sensor returns, he also attempts to do some research on Dourap IV. There has to be something about the planet or its history to cause someone to expend this much effort on this.
"Here is your targeting solution."
"They're shifting their shield frequencies, attempting to compensate."
"Scanningn for a weakspace in the shields."
Raising the captain on the comms, Xin-Yalix reports. "Captain, according to the sensors, the ship is definitely there, but there are some things that should be that are not. The ship is venting warp plasma, but there is no trail, as if it sprung a leak while just sitting there. We saw attacking ships earlier but there are no residual ion trails, as if they had just vanished. There is also warp engine signature, but there is another signature that is too small for the ship." Xin-Yalix pauses. "There are twelve life-forms on board, however, which does match the crew compliment of this particular vessel class, so at least something adds up."
"Captain, I am getting a lot of non-matching information. While I am not completely certain, I suspect this is another attempt to delay us."
"Captain, I'm going to advise caution. There's something wrong about the attacking craft. They might be an attempt at deception."
"Commiting the scan now Captin."
Sorry for being gone for the last two days. They pulled the power from the house for 'emergency maintenance' and went way over time.
"Captain, with your permission I would work on producing more of the treatment."
Commander Xin-Yalix bends over his station and mutter's to himself, "Where are you? Where are you? There was a shield fluctuation in this model of the D-7, if could just find it."
"Captin, the three Klingon vessels areof the D-7 class, but don't appear to be the latest upgrade. If we can get the engines back up we'll be faster, but they slightly outgun us." Xin-Yalix pauses for a moment. "Of course since there are three of them, we're not likely to win any kind of straight fight."

Commander Xin-Yalix quickly makes his way back to the bridge. "Captain." Xin salutes as he heads towards his station. "My complements to bav Khebloss and his team. My initial projections would have had us far less ready at this stage."

"Let's get this done bav Khebloss. We'll get these control relays done and get this little birdy under control. I'm going to need your help, I'm not a early Crashon anymore."
