The United Church of Christ is a very liberal denomination and as such these comments come as no surprise. It is simply a political agenda dressed up in bad theology.
I vote for number 2. This is how I have done PbP before and it works well. I trust my GM's to do what is smart in cases they have to make the decisions. If I didn't I wouldn't be gaming with you.
