Yeah I probably make it harder for myself but every session, I award an MVP award to whomever was the most fun/engaged player. Part of that is 50 XP. I try to spread it around a little when possible but it does lead to some characters being a level ahead for a session or so.

I know this is a little laater, but you should try giving away Hero Points or the MVP of the previous session start with two instead of one. That way, everybody is at the same level. But being engage, give a bonus.

I'd go ahead and run the 5th level party through the first adventure as-is. Give the players a chance to feel tough and high level, and with their greater resources, they'll be able to take out many more encounters before stopping to rest. There's a lot of story to that first adventure that'll resonate better later on, including introducing the PCs to the central threats of the Abomination Vaults.

One suggestion I would make to change things up though:

** spoiler omitted **

And then, once the PCs complete the 1st book and get into the second one, let them go ahead and level up to 6th level. They'll be a little over-leveled at this point, but if you go back to regular XP awards, that'll self correct soon enough.

Four years later and I am running in the same problem... And here is my solution, even more simple then what was plan and from an incredible source. My other option was to wait for the leveling and give them items to compensate and some items they would only be able to use later like magic weapon. But I prefer your idea.

Thank you James.

So, is there a remastered version coming up on those cards, from this one and all the others in the store?

I saw a complilation of the major changes posted by Paizo about the OGL and ORC. But I found nothing about the Beginner Box.

If you come by it, I will be glad to have it. thanks for you response.

Hello, I have two interesting questions about the PDF of the Beginner Box. I want to play the Beginner Box with some friends. I went to my account to download the PDF of the rules, I saw two versions of it. The OGL and the ORC.

My first one:

The ORC is clearly the remastered version of the 2nd edition, but is the OGL the rules for the 2nd edition? It is not stated on the upper right corner of the cover, but the content seems like the hard copy I have. Or is it the 1st?

My second one:

If the answer to my first question is that the OGL is the 2nd edition, before the ORC, what is the difference between the two versions? Should I use my hard copy, that is for sure OGL, or the ORC version of the PDF?

Thank you very much in advance for the help on that. I am really lost when it comes to the PDF and what document is what version.

Really appreciated.

Please Paizo, make the “My Download” clearer for what is 1st edition, what is 2nd edition and what is remastered. Please.

So, 10' radius around a square actually equals 25' diameter total?

And a 5' radius explosion leads to a 15' diameter area of effect once you include the square. Is that correct?

Yes, If you target a grid intersection, with normal bomb, you have a total of 4 square, so 10 ft diameter. If you target a creature, so a specific square, the splash will affect 8 square, so 15 ft diamater. But the square attacked don't have spash effect, but the explosion itself.

With 10 ft radius, you go kind of large, which is the point of having the Explosive bomb discovery, and adding the fire to the dommage.

Hi,

I was wondering how to calculate the 10 ft radius for the explosive bomb. Since a 5 ft radius is easy, all the squares that touch the square attacked. But at 10 ft, the horizontal and vertical are easy, but what for the diagonal, is it one square or two? For diagonal movement, the first square is 5 ft and the second is 10 ft for 15 ft total. So, someone can help me clarify it.

Thanks.

We are discussing about Cantrips for the Wizards particularly.

The difenition sais: Wizards can prepare a number of cantrips, or 0-level spells, each day, as noted on Table: Wizard under “Spells per Day.” These spells are cast like any other spell, but they are not expended when cast and may be used again. A wizard can prepare a cantrip from an opposition school, but it uses up two of his available slots (see below).

We can't agree if a cantrips is a 0-level spell, so at level 1 a sorcerer can have 3 cantrip, or can have 3 cantrips plus 3 0-level spell.

Also, if it is the first case. Does a cantrip (0-level) puts in a higher spells slot still conserve his ability to be use without being expended.

Thanks.
