"Rollplaying" is a derogative term. It only exists to demonstrate its supposed inferiority to "roleplaying" by its perpetuators. The real problem here is that with Ultimate Intrigue's rules on things like Social Combat and interpersonal interactions, we now have to find a way to keep them separate because now one can actually use dice to simulate a character's personality and the line between who is playing the game right and who isn't is getting blurry. OH THE HUMANITY, THE SKY IS COLLAPSING IN ON US ALL!!!!!!

Your logical discourse will not stop the sky from falling!!!! The Arcanist is the end of us all!!!!!!we are all DOOMED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Spell Points is something that I really like the variant of, and the arcanist is just a poor man's version of that. Often, Spell Points (being a derivative of Power Points) are considered to be more balanced than traditional Vanican casting. Ironic, isn't it? In practice the arcanist is not more powerful than a wizard. Quick Study does not break the class as much as people hype it to, since it's so time consuming and dangerous to use it will never see use in combat which effectively makes it the same thing as a wizard leaving a spell slot open to prepare later. That is the results of my limited experience with the class. Also look up, because the f**king sky is falling.
Man this thread is just getting nasty, I'm not even sure what they're fighting about anymore. Are they still trying to prove that the Arcanist is broken or are they just bickering about spellbook mechanics? Does the availability of spells in a game world affect how good the class is? Absolutely. Is it the deciding factor on whether or not the class is effective? Absolutely not. In the end it's all semantics. If an Arcanist can only prep 4 spells in a day, and the wizard can prep 5, then the wizard has the option of leaving that last slot open and the Arcanist has the option of swapping out one of those spells if he needs something else. You do realize how incredibly petty of an argument this is right? He has the ability to prepare knock without waiting 24 hours first- HOLY ******* **** IT'S BROKEN!!!!! I have already shown how much time has to be spent to use it in combat, being 3 rounds after you start the process, assuming a standard action cast, which makes the ability useless in combat. Glove of Storing shenanigans aside, the ability simply doesn't work as written, and swapping out a spell is just not that broken. Also: inb4 there is an Arcane Discovery in this book that let's wizards do the same thing and this entire thread's argument was pointless.
Looking at making a cool BBEG for my players to fight, I decided I want to look at some magus levels for access to spell combat and spellstrike, but the game calls for him to take a few levels in wizard. I wanted to multiclass him from magus to wizard and have him finish his levels in Eldritch Knight to make up for the BAB, but in order to get the full effects of the class one must take 6 levels in magus. Does that seem a little steep to anyone else? 6 levels eats such a huge chunk out of the characters levels that I would either have to make him epic or house rule it and cheat my way into having this ability (which I would rather not do). On a normal character, 6 levels is more than a substantial dip for an ability that is clearly designed to encourage multiclassing. Am I the only one who sees this as flawed?

If that were to happen, the Sky would..... you get it

Clearly at all times Schrodinger's wizard also has his book out in case he needs to change spells. I'm so dumb of course he does!!!This is getting ridiculous people.
