An Obsessive Nano who Fuses Mind With Machine

About Ceri Sahine

Appearance:
Ceri stands at around 5'4 with a lean frame, and often wears hooded cloaks, robes, or shirts to cover up as much of herself as possible. The clothing is never ill fitting, she just doesn't expose much skin. And that's likely because her skin gives the appearance that she's got an even, if light, bruise covering her body. Or maybe it's the random bits of exposed ports and other machinery breaking the fine planes of her skin?

She keeps her violet hair short and tousles it when she's stressed. Her eyes are bronze, the color of circuitry, and occasionally, in the right light, you're pretty sure you might even be able to see circuits within them.

Tier: 1
Might Pool: 9
Speed Pool: 11
Intellect Pool: 18
Edge: 1 (speed)
Effort: 1

Skills: Knowledge of animals (trained), Persuasion (trained), Seeing Through Deception (trained)

Gear: Stylish clothing (a hooded shirt in shimmery dark green, loose fitting black pants of the same material, and sandals), a knife at her hip, backpack.

Money: 6 shins

Cyphers:

Oddity:

Artifact: What appears to be a piercing at the nape of her neck; the item blocks disruption or hacking to her implants.

Practiced With Light Weapons: You can use light weapons without penalty. If you wield a medium weapon, increase the difficulty of the attack by one step. If you wield a heavy weapon, increase it by two steps.

Obessive:

Your Obsession: At the beginning of each day, choose one topic or ideal on which you will concentrate. For the rest of that day, you’re obsessed with that choice. This doesn’t mean you ignore anything not related to your obsession—it just means you are at your best when performing tasks related to it, and slightly inattentive when performing tasks that are not.

Enthralled: When you attempt a task that is directly related to your current obsession, the difficulty of that task is one step lower. The player and GM can decide whether a particular situation warrants the step reduction.

Preoccupied: When you attempt a task that is not related to your current obsession, the difficulty of that task is one step higher. The player and GM can decide whether a particular situation warrants the step increase.

Fuses Mind and Machine:

Additional Equipment: You have an artifact that protects your implants and enhancements from disruption or intrusion. The difficulty of resisting such attacks is decreased by one step.

Minor Effect Suggestions: You foresee your foes’ moves so well that the difficulty of Speed defense rolls for the next round is decreased by one step.

Major Effect Suggestions: Processing surge! On your next action, you can use points from your Intellect Pool rather than your Might or Speed Pools.

Tier 1:
Mechanical Assistance. You gain 4 additional points to your Intellect Pool
through the use of implants and tiny processing devices. Enabler.

Stored Memories: You are trained in one area of knowledge (history, geography, astronomy, and so on) of your choice. Enabler.

Background: Ports and Plugs:

You have a connection with machines for one clear reason: you’re practically a machine yourself. Your nervous system is laced with circuitry, and your body has implanted jacks and ports where you plug in modules and other technological bits that provide your capabilities. When you produce effects or manipulate nanites, you do so through your body’s direct mechanical interface. Your force blasts might come from a device implanted in your palm
or fingertip. Your ability to tap into the datasphere might come from the receiver plugged into a port you built in the back of your neck. Obviously, to become a nano, you have undergone numerous surgeries and procedures (either willingly or unwillingly). You are forever changed. Some people treat you with disdain or derision, but perhaps most of your modifications can be hidden by a hooded cloak or similar garment.

How To Create A Nano:
Ceri is from Ballaster, a place that experiences frequent and severe floods that often dredge up remnants from the past in the fens near the village. An old fen-searcher, a name she refuses to (or can't?) speak, adopted her when she was young. He began experimenting on her almost immediately in his home; injecting and installing things under her skin, trying to create... well, she isn't sure. All she knows is that when she was a teenager, she grew tired of the modifications and she fought back. He fled, and although she doesn't actively search for him, she is hoping she'll come across him again one day so maybe she can do some modifying of her own. Since then, however, she's taken things into her own hands, and finds she has a bit of an addiction to updating and modifying herself. She'd say it's because she took the power back from her captor. Other people, the ones who avoid her in the streets, just call her a freak.
