Male Human Gifted Warcaster / Arcane Mechanik
Ah, the name Cephas came from a name generator, it wasn't as a rank or anything. It's his first name, and he comes from a line of posh sorts who uses all three of his names. As for being the captain, while I could probably handle it, I think it would best be handled by someone with more experience in the rules system than I. Cephas was the first of a grand total of two IK characters I ever made. I believe the command stuff for him was for using 'jacks, though the idea is that he did command troops at one point in his past. In character, he wouldn't chafe at someone else taking the leadership position, as a Warcaster's battle experience is likely to be more along the lines of conventional warfare, whereas I imagine what we are going to be doing is more asymmetric warfare. As for that list of skills, do we add those on top of what we already have for our characters? If so, I could take the Command skill point and up my Command to 2.

A tall pale man walks in. He wears armor that nearly doubles his size. It is the color of graphite. The integrated greatcoat is high quality leather and well oiled. The armor bears arcane symbols giving it away as a telltale mechanikal suit. The sword slung on his waist is similarly engraved with mechanikal runes. A small trail of grey smoke and steam trails out of a small valve on his back. "I heard you bellowing all the way down the street. But no, I don't have any ideas, and I imagine the rest of the city block only has plans to get rid of you. Hah! Cephas says, pulling out 6 clanking bottles of alcohol and setting them on the bar in the corner of the main room. He uncorks one and leans on the bar, not yet ready to sit down, and takes a swig.

Hail, Tenro here, and I played Cephas here in your original game. I have the core book hardcopy. I have paged through unleashed, particularly as it relates to the races, when i was walking through a game store while traveling. I didn't buy it, because i thought i would never get the chance to use it. Then, a week later, you post this :/ hahaha! I didnt look at any of the new classes that may have been in Unleashed. I dunno, I really liked the Warcaster, but there were other classes i liked. As a Trollkin, I definitely want to go with Alchemist/something. Cutthroat looks nice, or Arcanist (because i dont think many would choose it), Fell Caller would be awesome (leaning towards that heavily for flavor, but i am more than happy with other options if someone takes it). I would be happy with it. I had actually forgotten they were in the main book (haven't looked at it since your last game, which i bought the book for) and when i saw Unleashed i thought it would be cool to play one, or a pygmy. I don't have a favorite. What would the combat/intrigue ratio be like, do you think (roughly)?

Cephas will charge the ogrun on Sasha, swinging his mechanikal sword in a side-slash at the creature's back (moving 3" straight there, facing the creature's right side, Sasha's left side) attack: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 5) + 6 = 13

yeah Sasha we have the same command score so either of us would make prime leadership candidates. you have more points in command, but i have a higher INT. however it makes more sense that the local military man takes charge, and Cephas is kinda on thin ice in Khador possibly

ah i missed his post as my last post was right as he posted his "I defended the borders of Ord from Khadoran and Cygnaran alike. Now I have taken my leave to explore some of the lands of those who sought to claim the land set aside for Ord. I am seeing that Khador has gotten a similar share of tough times to that of Ord. Should we come under attack, I shall likely be next to you on the front line."

yeah i seem to have the worst luck with that kind of stuff. i am always having doctors (well "always" sounds harsh, i dont go to the hospital very often) ask me if some new nurse can try to do the IV/annual blood draw/etc on me. i'd like to say no but then theyd just have to do it on someone else who might have something serious

Cephas amends his previous statement, noting the displeasure in the native crowd, "I know you may not like those of us in Ord, but I didn't come here on behalf of Ord. I came here to explore more of the world and its peoples outside of Ordite borders. Travel costs money, money takes work. I heard there was something that needed to be done here, so I dropped by."

With the sudden speech breaking the quiet rather than an entrance, Cephas shifts his attention to the Soviet. No stranger to drinking to ease the pain (an Ordite national passtime), Cephas drinks to all the toasts. He had rarely been on this side of the border, and definitely not this far past it, but he was seeing that life was tough for Khador, not just Ord.

as for backstory i think i will connect him to Ord and have him as one of the fine men and women keeping the Khador-Cygnar battle from spilling over into Ord lands. still reading the story parts of the book but i hope that fits in with things as they are. if not i will tweak as necessary

Cephas consumes his meal ravenously. It isn't particularly delicious, but he had the feeling the honored guests would begin talking soon and it is rude to eat while another speaks. Then again, with a crowd like this, the talking might be done with bullets and blades. All the more reason to eat quickly. "such a poor looking place... reminds me of home. The booze is tolerable, but this food could use some work. Have they even HEARD of spices?" Cephas thinks to himself. The room suddenly became quiet for a few moments, and Cephas looked towards the door, expecting someone to enter. It was in this moment he heard the comforting whine of the conduit in his sword and the low rumble of the turbine in his suit.

this is Tenro's submission. Don't have the book yet so stats are TBD but my idea is that he was a field mechanik first, and then later his arcane nature began to show itself to him in his work, where he could just take things apart and put them back together in his mind and understand their inner workings more fully. when he got into his work, what he could do was almost like magic (and actually was, he was to find out later). |
