Hello,

Please cancel my Pathfinder Battles Miniatures subscription. I am a teacher on summer budget, and that amount of money is not possible until september when I get paid again.

Many THanks!

Tonight I am running a module where the PC's will go into an area of Dead MAgic. All magic items will be shut off as well as all spellcasting.

Would the Alchemist's Extract work? At this point I am saying no.

I think the Bombs would work, and I think the Mutagen would work, but my mind can change on this as well.

Any advice?

I am bored making up a worksheet so I needed to amuse myself. If you feel like grinding math here is a physics problem for you. All necessary information is given in one form or another.

Lini needs to reach a pool surrounded on all sides by Walls of Force. She casts water breathing on herself, while Ezren casts FLY. Ezren picks her up and flies towards the pool. After take off they fly at a height of 30 feet in the positive x direction. Ezren intends to drop Lini into the pool but where in his flight path should he drop her. (Assume graviity for Golarion is 32.2 ft/sec2)

I heard in the comic grapevine that you folks are partnering with Dynamite to do a comic.

This makes me almost as happy as the Battles product.

My dream was a Pathfinder Darkhorse comic. I can more than settle for a Pathfinder Dynamite comic.

Red Sonja is awesome, and Warlord of Mars was fantastic.

My wife is jealous of Red Sonja, and Seoni. She made me change my background of Seoni to Shephard:)

If there was EVER a Red Sonja cross over with Golarion I think my wife would forbid me reading it.

Hello all!

I am an experienced GM, but I have never run a play by post game before. I have never even participated in one unless you count Role playing lounges play by post.

Simply can anyone give advice about what I need to do to start a play by post campaign. How is it set up? How is it even run? HOw does it compare to running games at my house?

I am playing Skyrim today so it may be later this evening when I check in, but any advice would be appreciated.

A ballpark date would be really helpful, so I can manage the Christmas finances!

Well the thread title says it all!

When can I expect to walk into the game store and find these? Is it possibly on sale today 12/15?

I asked in a previous thread if sunlight effects undead in general. Are undead relegated to only night or dark encounters? The consensus on that thread was that sunlight will not automatically kill undead.

But then I was reading this under the SUNBURST spell description:

The ultraviolet light generated by the spell deals damage to fungi, mold, oozes, and slimes just as if they were undead creatures.

Ok so now I am thinking my initial thought that Sunlight will damage undead is indeed true. Is this codified somewhere? Or is it not even a written rule.

I am having trouble tracking this simple thing down.

many thanks!

Last night I ran Broken Moon. The party took a rest period in the mill, and then woke up for Daytime exploration.

One of the encounters called for skeletons. it was about 10 am in the morning. (There is nothing in the encounter that specifically states time of day, I imagine it is up to the timing of the group.)

All my years playing this RPG and I have made the assumption that Undead will not go into sunlight. So before running that encounter which I previously thought would not have the skeletons I checked. There is NOTHING I can find anywhere that say skeletons cannot operate in Sunlight (well it was overcast skies so Daylight, I determine weather conditions for a particular day by checking weather archives for last year on weather underground, for the corresponding day in the campaign provided there is not mood or story element of weather involved.)

Was my assumption completely a misconception as far as D&D monsters go?

I ultimately ran the encounter with skeletons in daylight, because I assumed I had a 25 year misconception.

PC's should not be playing the NPC classes. However I have been thinking of the farmboy turns hero trope in context of the commoner, and led me to an adventure idea.

Instead of starting all PC's out at 1st level, I would let them start as say 10th level commoners, and as they gain experience they replace their highest commoner level with an adventurer level.

For example Mike the 10th level commoner, achieves 2000 xp. This would normally of course raise his 1st level character to level 2. Instead at 2000 XP he gets his 1st level of Base Class. He chooses fighter and so becomes a level fighter 1/commoner 9. This would continue until all of his levels are replaced through lvl 1-10 (or really 2-11) experience progression, at which time he will advance normally.

In the example above, I would let the players pick an NPC class, and they would start at level 10 (with all ability adjustments and normal advancement feats). As they gain in level they would replace the NPC saves and BAB with the new saves and BAB. For example Mike the commoner would recalculate FRW and BAB with Level 1 fighter bonuses; he would replace any gains made at level 10 commoner with level 1 fighter.

The BAB of a level 10 commoner is +5. f/r/w = 3/3/3 respectively

Upon attaining level one fighter he would now have bonuses of:

Fighter 1/Commoner 9: BAB= +5. f/r/w = 5/3/3 respectively. +1 Bonus feat for fighter.

It would keep the game around CR 8-10 for quite awhile. Essentially your starting at 10th level but actual level advancement is halted while still giving rewards.

Even if the character was a fighter 1/Warrior 9 he would still be more powerful because though his BAB and Save progression does not change he gets fighter bonus feats and powers.

I imagine Golarion NPC's with a mix of NPC/Base Class levels to have achieved levels in this way.

It would not be like Gestalt. If an expert chose to replace a level with Fighter or wizard he would LOSE skill points.

I would give the PC's the choice to start out as any NPC class, maybe offering a bonus feat for taking commoner.

Thoughts on this?

So are the Serpent folk SLEESTAKS? It was eluded to anyway. Something about that makes them less threatening unless your an adventurer in elementary school:)

They just kind of hiss at you and walk at you, never actually attacking you. Kind of like how Cobra never actually shoots anyone with their Lasers. Or how cobra pilots never die they just automatically parachute out of the rattlers.

As per the FAQ:

FAQ w Sean Reynolds Answer wrote:

Witch: If I take levels in a prestige class that advances my spellcasting, do I continue to gain bonus spells from my patron as I gain levels?

No. That is a class feature of the witch class, and the standard "+1 level of spellcasting" prestige class ability only advances spells known, spells per day, effective spellcaster level. (You retain the patron spells from your familiar based on your actual witch level, of course.)

I would have made the case to my players that Patron Spells were not stackable with prestige class +1 spell casting level.

However, how is this distinguished in the rules. Patron Spells are indeed a class feature, but so is a Wizards Spellcasting ability.

Is it formatted differently in the rules?

I love art books, and I am unfortunate in only being able to appreciate visual art and not create it. I love buying the Art Collection books for sci fi and fantasy, especially the Art of Dragonlance, or Art of Dungeons and Dragons books that used to get released.

The art for PAthfinder is too inspiring and well done to just sit in Ap's or Rule books. I would love to see a volume printing selections of the best of Paizo's art.

I do not have every adventure path yet, but I completed collecting Second Darkness. There is fantastic art in there that I have never seen. I don't think all of it has been reprinted in rule books. It is too nice to be missed!

Please folks at Paizo! Release an Art book!

New York Comic Con is pretty large, I have been going there for the last three years. Unfortunately Saturday is all sold out.

I was there last night for the professional day. Bioware is allowing people to run through a KOTOR mission, and a decenet length Mass Effect 3 demo. The graphics for Mass Effect are incredible. It was being demo'd on the Xbox, and Bioware is showing they really know how to stretch the XBOX hardware.

Not only that but the cast of Avengers is going to be there, but I am not buying a ticket for that event.

I saw most of the exhibits last night, so now I can just go and search out creators to sign books and such.

I'm pretty local so if anyone wants to meet up let me know here and we can arrange to exchange emails.

Last night at New York Comic Con I got a Mass Effect shirt. It was not from Bioware, it was from Legendary pictures.

Currently the movie is in the story board phase, and should be ready by 2013, as per the Legendary Pictures representative.

I am considering allowing untrained characters to use Knowledge local. I don't really think it throws the bard off or reduces the viability of taking ranks in that skill.

I am running Carrion Crown, and alot of knowledge checks are local. the DC10 and sometimes DC15 for Local knowledge anyway is information a local can learn in a pub. 15 is a bit high end, but also hard to remember unless you have a high intelligence. At least for Haunting of Harrowstone, an untrained local who also happens to be a supra genius can know a DC 25 local check 5% of the time. That does not seem unreasonable.

I don't like the idea of any other knowledge skill being used untrained.

I love the flip mats. Does anyone have suggestions how to make these viable at the game table? I would think them difficult to print out. I mean the digital ones, I use the flip mats all of the time.

You guys are awesome! These were the best days of the Forgotten Realms!

There are actually some things I do not have.

I have a player that wants to play a non-archetype druid (standard Core druid) in Carrion Crown. I am worried that the Druid's class abilities will not be able to shine in this AP. Does anyone have any advice on this?

I received an email on SEPT 13th that this order was shipped. It still has not reached me which is odd. Has it indeed been shipped. I just hope it did not get lost.

I am considering adding the archmage from 3.5, or maybe the Forgotten realms 3.0 version. I am not sure if this is wise so I am throwing it out here for advice.

Technically alot of the old ARCHMAGE abilities can be done with feats now. Archmage will allow a mage to do those spell effects without feats, but they must sacrifice permanent spell slots.

For example if an archmage chooses Elemental mastery they can change any spell into an opposite for of energy.

Granted alot of these abilities are for high level characters, for example Elemental Mastery requires a loss of 8th level spell slot permanently. But the mage never has to worry about the elemental spell feat (Which to mimic this power would have ot be taken 4 times).

Here is the link to archmage:

Please let me know your thoughts!

Many Thanks!

Carl

Does paizo sell prints of any of the art work from the rpg or adventure paths? If not are prints available from the individual artists?

I want to change Mournblade94 instead of Carl Cascone as my main name (that would show the subscriptions for instance). Is there any way to do this?

I can't get the files to unzip, and one PDF that I downloaded as an email attachment would not read. I can read other PDF's just fine. Are Paizo PDF's not supported on the droid for some reason, or Am I just doing something wrong?

Please resubmit the order. All should be well now!

Many Thanks!

Will Paizo be selling commemorative dice for the Serpent Skull, Carrion Crown, and Jade Regent AP's? I can only find dice up to Kingmaker.

Many thanks!

Does anyone have a good storage solution for Gamemastery flipmats? The sectional folds are really annoying. I try to use them and the mini or counter slides off.

is there a good solution for this?

I love that NPC's have no levels in the campaign guide, but it would be good to know intention of if the characters are legendary or not.

Are there any obvious legendary or epic NPC's?

I decided to bring this up after reading the Asmodeus Paladin thread.

I can really find nothing in Hell Knights that would distinctly prevent a paladin from operating in their ranks. I think a careful paladin could pull it off, and might even do it to ensure the Hellknights integrity.

Simply what do you think?

Sorry to sound like an idiot, but I see MAD mentioned in lots of mechanical discussions. I am not sure what the acronym means. Can anyone help with this?

Is there a place online that I can get some of the highlights of paizo announcements?

Youtube, podcasts, what have you?

Many thanks for your help!

Hi guys.

I am stupid. I found my copy of Traveller book 4: psion here in my house.

I didn't remember buying psion I think someone bought it for me as a gift. Anyway:

I already paid for Psion and it is in my sidecart to ship with the next AP.

Can I make an exchange? Can I exchange Traveller book 2 High Guard for Traveller Book 4 psion which is in my sidecart? I am only asking because Psion has not shipped yet.

If not I understand, as the stupidity was mine, but any fix would be appreciated.

Many thanks!

Carl

Not that this really should matter, but I see all the other subscribers with their cool Bold faced Pathfinder X subscriber tag, and I don't have one for the Adventure path subscription of which I am part.

Did I do something wrong in profile, or worse yet is there a discrepency with the subscription?

Many thanks!

Carl

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I run a pathfinder game where I use the 3rd edition Forgotten Realms in the year 1400 DR, where Mystra was saved and the Spellplague was averted.
I use alot of influence from Golarion, for example I include Abadar as the Son of Helm and Waukeen, who replaces both of their churches.

Now I want to place Cheliax in the area where old Chessenta used to be (in other words, it was always there, and Chessenta never was). Do any of you that are knowledgeable of both realms have any ideas as too the impact this could have? As a point it would be placed on the Sea of Fallen Stars, which is also shared with Cormyr and Marsember.

I am just looking for ideas. I am not sure if I want to include it because a nation like Cheliax could really upset a power balance.

Any of you that would take the time for thoughts, advice, ideas, or suggestions would be appreciated!

Many thanks!

Hello all!

My Local Game Store wants me to run 3rd editon on free RPG day, and I told them I would run pathfinder.

Now the problem is the 4e DM's all have the dungeon delve packet. I have no such thing. Now I can use some advice on a couple of things:

1. Should I run this on my own or should I try to get it PFSociety sanctioned? If so how do I go about doing this?

2. Intitally I was going to use some pregen characters from an AP, and run a section of an AP. I really need advice on what to run because it has to fit in about a 4 hour time period. Should I use some of the modules, an AP fragment, or download a pathfinder society scenario?

3. If I am doing this as a PF society event, how do I get the people that show up to join? Is there a form I can bring, or do I have to have them do it online there?

I have no problem on the game end of things, I just need lots of logistics help.

Many thanks!

I have heard in several places on the web that if you buy a hard print copy in print and can show proof, vendors will give you a discount on PDF's. DOes that apply if I bought the campaign guide at my FLGS?

Also I ordered three print copies of chronicles? I read here something about getting it free on PDF? (That makes little sense, but I am trying:)

This would be really convenient if true, but if not I will deal.

Does PAIZO have a PDF policy when buying their print stock?

OK if it is possible to get a Paizocon in the UK, why can't there be one in the NYC/Philadelphia Area?

Afterall who wants to go to Seattle anyway? Microchips and Pearl Jam?

In New York you can get Snotdogs and Broadway... Plus Brooklyn BRewery (incidently the first American Beer to have a booth at the CAMRA Olympia Beerfestival in London).

I know more gamers here that play OGL variants than 4e. Why can't we get an East COast Paizocon?

Hello all!

I am planning on purchasing the Campaign Guide but what other products are good for learning lore?

I would LIKE to buy every product for pathfinder right now, but that is not fiscally possible.

How can my dollar go farthest in acquiring lore? I have bought a few adventure paths but at this juncture I am seeking more background so I can switch my Forgotten Realms campaign to a Golarion campaign. The background info seems a little light in the AP publications.

Many thanks folks!
