Eska, background 2/2:

Though Eska was sure her eyes were open she could make nothing of the world out other than a spinning haze of pain. The taste of blood and ashes filled her mouth and she could feel suffocating heat of the roaring inferno that was once her family's home. She always knew no good would come of her family's secret dabblings but she could never have expected things to go so wrong...
---
Eska was always a adventurous youth never one to sit still for long and her quick tempered nature kept her in constant conflict. Yet as quick as she is to fight she is also quick to forgive; full of compassion and a willingness to stand up for others.

While Eska's parents never shared the full extent of their involvement with The Cult of the Dragon, Eska always hoped that they would turn away from the dark dealings and eerie strangers visiting behind the locked doors of their home. Even more so when they bid her to run peculiar errands with people of ill-repute. As such the shadows, dark alleyways and moonlit rooftops became a second home for her. She could not deny the pleasure of the open air and the thrill of the chase, hunter or hunted and found herself spending more and more time out at night righting wrongs under the veil of night.

It was perhaps her nightly adventures that saved her from sharing the fate of the rest of her family. The night lit up and three members from the organization left her home ablaze. They watched and some laughed as the young half-elf was torn between attacking them or running into the hungry fire a natural response to a cry for help both choices nothing but folly. She chose the latter. As she entered there was the rumbling of tearing wood, the structure that was once a house collapsed and there was silence all but for the rumbling and cackling of flame.

When she woke rescued and in a bed dragged from death's door. The memory of those three was seared into her mind. An anger boiled in her unlike anything she had felt before. Thoughts of vengeance kept her company as her body recovered.

Rumors of maps that contain the location of an ancient vaults and hidden treasures with in Cassomir’s Locker are all too often simple bard musings or false wonders of shameless merchants who preying on the desperate and fool-hardy. But one such claim seemed to have some substance behind it, the trail leading to a man, a regular of The Pike and Tankard Inn, just one of many who come to dote on the Innkeeper's daughter. After much investigation it seemed all there was to do now was wait...
