Quotes:
"I'm sure that magic serves [Straehan] just as well, practically, as the gods do us. But when magic fails, we'll still be here. And while the mages are tearing out their hair in frustration, we'll still be here. And when it returns, and the mages weep with joy, we'll just keep praying. As long as our faith sustains us, we need no magic."

Backstory:
Brother Widfen used to be a respected member of the church of Shelyn. Wise and easy-going, many of his fellow clergymen felt his presence comforting.
But one day, it was discovered that bodies had been dug up from the cemetery. Since wards had been placed over the place, it could only be a member of the clergy. And somebody decided Widfen would make the best scapegoat. Or maybe they held a grudge. Whatever the reason, dozens of onyx gems were found in Widfen's room during a routine search.
Of course, it was discovered soon that Widfen had not fallen out of favour with Shelyn and was thus innocent. But some still believed otherwise.
Sadly, Widfen decided to leave before the church got an excuse to kick him out. He just wasn't wanted there any more.
Appearance:
Brother Widfen is very fat for a halfling. Not quite obese, he is nonetheless very 'round'. He has major sideburns and a rather silly moustache, and his hairline is noticeably receding. A jolly smile is often upon his face. He wears a fancy breastplate and leans on a faintly glowing staff.
Personality:
Brother Widfen is a happy sort. He doesn't like to be sombre, and usually can't stop laughing. Only in events of great tragedy--or when confronted by great evil--does his façade vanish. Brother Widfen is very smart, much smarter than his attitude suggests. He has a true loathing of the undead and those who create them, and will always confront them if not grossly outmatched.
Brother Widfen likes to assume a fatherly role, looking after those who need help. He urges his friends to pursue the worship of Shelyn, but doesn't preach, and will give up if his attempts anger them. He tries to be tolerant of all religions, and even a servant of Urgathoa (whom he loathes)earns the benefit of the doubt.
