Male Halfling Cleric/6

Guys, I think I'm going to withdraw Widfen from this game. The style doesn't really seem to fit him. Sorry.

Male Halfling Cleric/6

Widfen winks at the goblins. "Come on then. Or are you afraid of a fat little halfling?"
"Shelyn, keep me from the pointless fighting and death wrought today," he says under his breath, hand on his holy symbol.
First, I'm trying to bait them into attacking me. Bluff: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Second, I'm going on to total defence (+4 AC)
Finally, I cast Sanctuary. If they want to attack me, they have to make a DC 15 Will save.

Round 1 Summery so far (for those who get lost in the posts like I do, the actions posted that are in order prior to goblins, because thoe of us that have pre-posted might change after the gobos)

Jonin - Glitterdust
Ungol - Moves to engage (double move)
Widfen - Shoots with bow (awaiting results)
Straehan - Action or holding? wasn't quite certain

*Goblins (7blinded), Bane, Mundriel, Dumpling, Markus to go

Ooh, I have a bow now! Awesome!

Male Halfling Cleric/6

Widfen slowly approaches, staff at the ready.
Going 20 feet, on total defence.

"Goblins, you say?" Aside from the single one he had spied, he saw little more and murmured, elbowing Grent. "Why do I get the feeling there may be more than a rag-tag band of goblins around the bend somewhere...?"
"It's never just goblins, lad, that's what we'd always say." He cooly drew his longsword, adorned with gaps and hooks and snares designed to destroy the opposed weapon during combat. He turned towards a nearby soldier. "Pikes and spears, lad! What good is a damn wall defense if you're not giving the militia polearms! Now scurry!" He turned back to the wall and shook his head. "I'm no good with them pigstickers though. I'm going to take a group through the gates and give these little rodents a counterattack they'll never forget. I want support from you thunder-throwers up here on the wall, and any that are more comfortable in melee to come along with me." He grinned mirthlessly - his demeanor had been getting more and more businesslike the closer battle came. "Shall we?"

I thought we were the only soldiers guarding this area at the moment?

Brother Widfen chuckles. "We shall." He strides over to Ezekiel and pats him on the back. "Shelyn, grant him the strength to keep your loyal follower from being decapitated," he intones. The knight feels new strength rushing through him.
Bull's Strength. If you have any objection to this (such as a hellknight not wanting to be helped by a Shelynite/Shelynian/Shelynist), Brother Widfen will stop the spell and cast it on Grent, instead.

Male Halfling Cleric/6

I'm pretty sure that I don't need a check, since the goblin was pointed out to me, but if I do...1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
"Perhaps we should take him captive. I'm still not entirely sure what this war is about, and it might help to get a second opinion.
"Although...something odd is that goblins have no special affinity with orcs or ogres, from what I'm aware. I wonder what he's doing here?"
The halfling pauses for a moment, then he nods. "Yes, definitely take him alive if possible."

Straehan regards him for a long moment, "I am perhaps over-sensitive on the subject. Apology accepted if you will accept mine in turn." He clasps hands with the Halfling and seems to put the matter to rest.

Brother Widfen shakes his hand. "No apology necessary, Straehan! We'll call this even."

Widfen seems to have no ill feeling towards Straehan.

"Now, now. I'm sure that magic serves him just as well, practically, as the gods do us. But when magic fails, we'll still be here. And while the mages are tearing out their hair in frustration, we'll still be here. And when it returns, and the mages weep with joy, we'll just keep praying. As long as our faith sustains us, we need no magic."

Brother Widfen closes his eyes solemnly. Then he bursts out laughing.

Brother Widfen pats the gnome on the shoulder. "The gods work in mysterious ways. Don't you wonder why those mortal sources act as they do?"
Straehan looks at Widfen in a friendly manner, "Actually, Brother, I spend more time wondering how I should react to the excesses of mortal agents - regardless of what compels them to act as they do. I certainly hope the Gods are not the authors of all of the acts I've witnessed in lands in service to nominally good deities."

Brother Widfen nods. "We are our own authors. But the gods always have a hand in things. The trouble is that the wicked gods...Zon-Kuthon, Asmodeous...they always have a hand in things, too."

"It's a crime against soldiery, that's for certain, and I'd damn well suggest you keep it away from your mouth." A mid-height barrel of a man strides into the group, a whirlwind of movement and conversation. He gestures at the sword in Jonin's hand. "If you're uncomfortable with that, lad, I'd drop it on the ground now. They're bargain swords, bad to begin with, bought by some bureaucrat who's never seen past the stack of papers on his desk. They're cheap, but I've never seen 'em in the hands of a veteran, if you know what I'm sayin'. Name's Grent, retired soldier." He gives a warm and hearty slap on Brother Wifden's back. "Ah, a man of the cloth! Great to see, give a little spiritual backbone to this militia! I was a bit of an army chaplain, self-taught, sort of made it up as I go along, but the Gods work as the Gods will, eh?" He laughs heartily at his own unfunny joke. "So it seems some of you have seen your share of combat," he says, looking over Bane as he says so, "but I bet none of you have seen an operation like this one, eh? Ragtag defense, straight outta one of your storybooks! One for the ages, I'll say!"

Widfen chuckles. "I'm glad you're looking forward to it, then. Hopefully, Shelyn will smile upon our journey and we will be victorious. Maybe her smile will be so great we won't have to fight at all."

Male Halfling Cleric/6

Brother Widfen laughs. "Well met, Mundriel. I greatly admire the alchemical tradition, a true art form. I even considered pursuing it once, to help spread the Eternal Rose's influence, but it requires brains that I lack." He winks. "Brother Widfen is my name. So what would those ingredients produce?"
He turns as Brother Dumpling approaches. "Ah, a fellow man of the cloth. And a man of eating, as well. You look like one who would know of such matters, am I right in thinking that this thing is a crime against existence?" He passes Brother Dumpling a hunk of cheese. It tastes like a typical specimen.

Male Halfling Cleric/6

Sorry, that post was made before I read through the other posts. Having now done so (about time), here's a post that makes a bit more sense:
A halfling looks up. He's quite plump, and a silver symbol of Shelyn glitters on his chest. He is dressed in the garb of a monk, but armour is easy to see underneath. He leans upon a glowing staff, and smiles merrily.
"So, Ezekiel, you are uninterested in being here? I would have thought a soldier like yourself would be eager for a battle."
He pulls out a hunk of cheese and takes a bite out of it. The monk makes what has to be an exaggerated look of disgust and horror as he gulps it down. "My manners are dulled by the awful food they provide, though. My name is Widfen Tomal, but you can call me Brother Widfen."

Hey KC, I don't think there was any announcement. My general assumption is we are all 'in' and/or perhaps Ulgul dealt with some folks individually. Figure I'm just gonna roll with it and see what happens. :)

Got it, thanks. :)

EDIT: Brother Widfen is complete!

Male Halfling Cleric/6

Brother Widfen listens to his comrades talking with an absent smile on his face. At Straehan's words, he looks up and smiles. "It sounds like I'm not the only one given a sword and unsure of how to use it."
He's a rather fat halfling, in a bright breastplate. He holds a staff in one hand. A silver symbol of Shelyn lies upon his chest in plain view.

5d8 + 8 + 6 ⇒ (5, 3, 4, 6, 6) + 8 + 6 = 38

What is this? Another fat monk? I am challenged! ;)

So how is he so agile when he's fat? It kind of denies the laws of physics, doesn't it?
My backstory's done, sorry it took so long.
By the way, I'm assuming for now that we have average hp build, until you say otherwise.
EDIT:
DM:
I had a kind of weird idea.
Could I get holy water enchanted? I mean, it's a weapon, like anything else. i know the flask itself couldn't be--the whole idea is that it breaks--but what about, say, the cork? or a length of enchanted twine? I'm thinking a +1 enhancement bonus, but I'll wait for your ruling.

Still room? Here's my concept:
A halfling cleric, probably of Old Deadeye or Cayden. He's rather plump and jolly, but is a lot smarter than most give him credit for. He rarely takes things seriously, always preferring to laugh insults--and painful wounds--off, but when confronted with true evil or great tragedy his façade immediately vanishes.
His domains would, obviously, be Community and something else.
EDIT: And here's the alias.

Hey, DM? I kinda want to do a journal thing, but I seem to be short 2 gold pieces to buy a spellbook (since there isn't actually a 'journal' option, I assumed they'd have the same price). It'd just be a flavor piece, and every now and then I'd post an entry here. I don't suppose this would be okay?

Svei, arn't you already over your limit?

175gp - 150gp (chainmail) - 50gp (heavy crossbow) -17gp (on hand) = -42

or am I missing something?

What the...

EDIT: Whoops. It looks like I missed the 'average gold' thing and rolled. Okay, editing time.
EDIT EDIT: Well, I got Scale instead of Chain, but thanks to a smaller Max Dex I have the same AC! And I have 70 gp. left over! :D

Duidelik, you seem to have erred...your character sheet says Lodlin has 13 HP, even though fighters start out with only 10 hp and you only have a 14 Con.
Also, I would like to point out that the elf has a better Reflex save.

Well, we shouldn't have any trouble with healing at least! 'Course, now we've got no arcane casters in addition to no trapfinders. Not that those can't be overcome, just a note.
Specifically, we'll probably have some trapfinders (druids are usually pretty good at Perception), but no trap disarmer.

Ah, don't forget the Universal Key!

I'm trying to break the 'fighters do melee, rogues and rangers do ranged' stereotype. Fortunately, I have a fairly good Constitution. Perhaps I should change my feats and get Precise Shot so I can shoot into melee, too.

Other than that, my stats are done.

So fair warning folks as I have seen a game fold because of this. Some times it will look as the DM has gone 2 days between posts when really he has not. He will be in way infront of most of use so the game will prob not post everyday. We will need to try and do so but the DM will be in front. What is day to him is prob midnight or early early morning to most of us.

Not wanting to talk for the GM but there will be some time lag, it's a pbp just roll with it :)

Hey, I usually wait a whole month with the GM not posting anywhere before I give up. :D

EDIT: SO here's my character! Sveid, the Ulfen gnome!
