"Let's heal up that scratch you have there Oloch. We don't want you opening any doors till that is fixed up." Brin says almost cheerily, oblivious to his his inaction in the recent combat.

GM had you down 4 hp so I figured we would heal that. Use 1 charge from Brin's wand.

Brin then drinks his cognatogen, twitching twice before his eyes take on a rather intense look. "What? I am just preparing for the worst after all that." he says with as innocent a look as he can muster.

He then takes his extract of heightened awareness. Not using the initiative function, keeping it for the other bonuses. Knowledge skills are all +18 currently.

Brin moves up between Crowe and Oloch even though he knows his attacks will be ineffectual. He clearly keeps out of Sek's line of fire.

"I thought for sure there would be magical guardians, but so many animated statues is somewhat surprising. I really thought there would be more undead within these walls..." offers the alchemist, sounding almost disappointed.

He stabs out with a dagger, hoping he can draw an attack or two to help his friends.

Brin downs one of his extracts as he examines the carvings. Heightened awareness.

With no further need to identify the varied creatures, Brin nods in agreement with Sek. "All possibilities. Based on the owner of this tomb, I think your first suggestion may be the most viable. He was vain and powerful, and likely respected power the most."

He pauses to think on which sphinx is the most powerful on down to the least.

"Is it safe?" Brin says from the door way with hesitation.

He creeps back in the room and looks over the odd feline.

Realizing that there is little interest from the others, Brin's words quietly trail off, eventually saying, "I suppose we should search the room and take notes."

I rolled my own AoO in the spoiler before your post GM, and it looks like you missed it. Was my roll a miss? Sek hit with a 17 so I expect I may have. It was only 3 dmg so not likely something that matters, but in case.

Brin runs up in an effort to disrupt the bony archers' attacks. He tries to strike one with his cestus, but is tripped up on his arrival and misses completely.

He then shifts back a few steps to make way for others to engage the strange polymorphic creature. Almost as an after thought he tosses an explosive vial at the creature, careful to prevent it from splashing his nearby friends.

lol, I was just setting up my next lvl for when I get to add my Intelligence bonus to perception instead of my Wisdom. That will be a big jump from his current score and I wanted to lay the ground work for his improvement. ;)

Outwardly his brows furrows and he says, "I can't allow our group members to be bound up like that." and he takes out a vial of oily liquid, then quickly steps forward and dashes it against the adhesive that binds the creature to Oloch.

Brin shakes his head, then speaks with sincerity, "Thank you for your thoughtfulness Sek. I would have hated to lose any valuable knowledge before I had a chance to record it." He then begins to sketch images of the sarcophagus and scribe notes on the room before them.

"Fascinating! The images in this room depict a time and place vastly different than the lands we travel now. That alone is an incredible piece of knowledge." He then steps further into the room. "I wonder where the quarry was that they took this pink granite from...Oh how I hope we find some references to that!"

Brin barely contains his excitement at the discovery just beyond the door.

"There are likely many traps or threats within these walls, all to deter tomb robbing and quite possibly to prevent escape. A slow and careful exploration is wise..." and then he sees the snowball slam into the side of the sarcophagus "...and snowballs are quite uncommon in the desert I would imagine. "Maybe some grease or oil will help if applied liberally and in the right places. Anyone have some? Oh and maybe a crow bar! I was so interested in getting here, I didn't pack one."

"If we have climbing gear, perhaps a hammer and a piton could be used to raise the door free of an obstruction and then we could remove the piton and try again to open the door."

I don't believe anyone has those things, but Brin would suggest it anyway. We may just be shouldering it.

"Hmmm..." murmurs the alchemist. He then takes out several sheets of paper and charcoal and begins to take rubbings of the doors.

Once done, he turns to the group and offers his thoughts on moving inside.

"I didn't see anyway into the tomb other than these doors. Someone give me a hand." he says as he begins to lean in on the door. "If our sharp eyed friend Deter didn't see any traps here, and since most stone doors not built by dwarves use pivot hinges to open, it might just take muscle to push past these. I would hate to have Crowe break them open."

Yep, but if I didn't cast targeted admixture, I would be no help at all unless I crit, and even then the chance I do enough damage to hurt it is slim. This at least improves those odds. Darn hardness!

That halving of damage is supposed to apply to ranged attacks also, like your arrows(even though they are adamantine), before hardness is applied, but I think both reductions(your arrows and my bombs) might be only for actual objects, and not constructs that have hardness, as it is a property of objects and not hardness that reduces it. Let's hope it isn't an animated object or this will be a long fight.

He takes a step back, away from the pyramid's reach, and drinks an extract that will strengthen the effect of his bombs.

How fast is the pyramid rolling? Also Deter, fighting defensively would bump your AC to 24 not 23.

Suddenly realizing the others just might not know, despite the obviousness of it, he says, "And that thing coming toward us? It's a rolling pyramid, as if you didn't already know." he then goes on to let the group know its resistances.

"Perhaps we can make a fighting retre..." Brin starts to say, then suddenly stops as Deter tries to dance around the rolling stone construct.

"Well that depends on if it keeps coming or not now I suppose." He adds as he takes a small resin bag from his hip and throws it at the creature's base.

Brin approaches the ancient tomb, but holds back some distance from the entrance as the others search for traps.

"I'm very glad we are the first to arrive. Anything of value has yet to be despoiled. Thinking of the knowledge we may gain is almost intoxicating!" he says to no one in particular as he takes out his journal and scribbles several notes.

Brin quickly takes out his journal and scribbles some notes as he begins to walk out of the room, presumably heading to the transportation.

A man in fine dark clothes walks into the room and looks at Crowe with a nod and a smile that doesn't quite reach his eyes.

His windswept brown hair seems to blow in a nonexistent breeze as his curious brown eyes take in the scene around him.

He wears several pouches on his belt as well as two daggers on his right hip and his left hand is covered with a leather glove that stretches from mid-finger to mid-forearm.

He takes a place against the wall near the doorway and clears his throat before introducing himself.

"Well met everyone. My name is Brinshandyr, but please, call me Brin."

Scribbling in his journal on the walk to meet the Sheriff, Brin looks up only occasionally, mostly to avoid a misstep that could turn an ankle than out of any thought for others he might run into.

With one brow raised, Brin comments quietly to Myth, "A partner. That does make quite a bit of sense. Perhaps we can use that to our advantage if we meet this Robella. I am certainly not above exploiting a relationship of any kind in this situation."

Thinking further, he continues. "Based on the notes they made and the alchemical supplies we found recently, we can also assume this Robella has at least a passing affinity for alchemy, and even more likely they are an expert. We should be prepared for explosives and spread out when we can."

Turning to Patros, "The sooner you can close any distance to an alchemist, the better. Don't let them throw their bombs, and don't try to dance with them at range, unless it is extreme range."

Brin has darkvision 60'. He looks human, and even counts as human (and outsider) for effects, but he is a sylph. He just never advertises this bit of information. He has the "Mostly Human" racial trait.

Hearing mention of the freak that blends, Brin chimes in, "We encountered two of those things recently. They are called Skulks. Cowardly things that tend to hate most everyone else. Thank you for informing us about it." Thinking further during a moments pause, he continues, "They usually travel in groups and rarely operate alone. Even though we dealt with two previously, lets prepare for more than one."

Realizing he hasn't tried to help Myth yet, he takes a turn at the lock.
