"Hey, where did all these guys come from?!" Hammer might've been a better choice. Someday I need to fly!

Boomy can't help but look a little disappointed at not getting to be part of a leshy-fleshy gunship arrangement whatever a 'gunship' is, but they pull themselves up and stand tall, nodding slowly.

I don't think it's safe to leave the goblins on the farm. And it sounds like we need to follow Carlo's trail as soon as possible.

I know of a punishment that might work. Something that happened back in the mana wastes. The Maker would dig a hole, and bury the offender up to their neck. Sometimes the Maker went back for them. Sometimes not. It's hard to escape from a hole if you're buried up to your neck. Really bad punishment for a leshy, because you live just fine but you can't uproot and move anywhere." AoOs:

AoO1, hammer, rage: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
AoO 2hammer, rage: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
AoO 3hammer, rage: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
AoO 4hammer, rage: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
AoO 5hammer, rage: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
AoO 6hammer, rage: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
[ooc]Hammer is cold iron.

Leshy vine shape shenanigans:

Boomy's Stealth mod in Vine Shape is either -1 (assuming DEX is effectively 0) or +7 (if his attributes don't change). Add +4 if in forest terrain. However, I'm not sure that Stealth matters:

Vine Leshy Change Shape wrote:
Change Shape: Vine leshys can transform into vines, with results similar to tree shape. In this form, the leshy appears as a particularly healthy Small vine. The leshy can assume plant form or revert to its true form as a swift action.
Tree Shape spell wrote:
This spell allows you to assume the form of a Large living tree or shrub or a Large dead tree trunk with a small number of limbs. The exact type of tree, as well as its appearance, is completely under your control. Even the closest inspection cannot reveal that the tree in question is actually a magically concealed creature. To all normal tests you are, in fact, a tree or shrub, although a detect magic spell reveals a faint transmutation on the tree. While in tree form, you can observe all that transpires around you just as if you were in your normal form, and your hit points and save bonuses remain unaffected. You gain a +10 natural armor bonus to AC but have an effective Dexterity score of 0 and a speed of 0 feet. You are immune to critical hits while in tree form. All clothing and gear carried or worn changes with you. You can dismiss tree shape as a free action (instead of as a standard action).
Universal Monster Ability Change Shape wrote:

The creature has the ability to assume the appearance of a specific creature or type of creature (usually a humanoid), but retains most of its own physical qualities. A creature cannot change shape to a form more than one size category smaller or larger than its original form unless noted otherwise. This ability functions as a polymorph spell, the type of which is listed in the creature’s description, but the creature does not adjust its ability scores (although it gains any other abilities of the creature it mimics). Some creatures, such as lycanthropes, can transform into unique forms with special modifiers and abilities. These creatures do adjust their ability scores, as noted in their description.

Format: change shape (wolf; beast form I)
Location: SQ, and in Special Abilities for creatures with a unique listing.

Most Leshy entries in the Bestiaries have the Shapechange subtype - but the Vine Leshy race entry in Ultimate Wilderness does not.

So I think that these abilities mean that in Vine Shape a vine leshy is treated as being in Tree Shape, gaining +10 natural armour but having a DEX of 0; in Vine Shape "Even the closest inspection cannot reveal that the tree in question is actually a magically concealed creature. To all normal tests you are, in fact, a tree or shrub," making Stealth irrelevant. (In my opinion, for what it is worth anyway).

If I am right, then Boomy's AC in vine shape is 16.

With the rest of the pathfinders having found safe spots before the goblins' arrival, Boomy lies in wait on the river bank in his vine shape.

Delay till the goblins have acted - we'll see if they use their missile weapons or not.

Boom Sticks looks about to see where his new friends are. "Don't leave yourselves exposed! I'll cover you!"

If everyone has time to get to a safe position (or otherwise says they're good where they are), Boomy transforms into a vine once more, waiting at the river bank. If they do not, then Boomy remains in humanoid-plant form and points his gun.

Boomy looks up at the screeching hawk. "More goblins? It's an invasion!"

They reload their blunderbuss with cold iron pellets and point the weapon towards the east, where the noise is coming from.

if subject to a ranged attack:
Spend 1 grit and an immediate action on Gunslinger's Dodge, gaining +2 to AC with an optional 5' step.

"I got you covered, Soddy!"

Boomy scuttles around the flanks, panting (a peculiar sight, for a plant-person).

They pull the trigger on the blunderbuss, and the strange weapon spews fire!

I pretty much agree with Lady Ladile. Since I got into pbp, I like to play both face to face and pbp (occasionally also VTT games). I find that pbp is good for developing my PCs' personalities, especially at low levels. But I still like social gaming in person.

I do think some PFS scenarios work much better in pbp; I'm really glad I did Salvation of the Sages in pbp, and wish I'd done What Prestige is Worth in pbp as well because we just ran out of time when I played it at a recent con.

"On my way, Gervase!"

Boom Sticks makes for the front line - as they approach, they realise they're not going to get close enough to fire their gun before the goblins respond. So they grab a chakram off their belt, and hurl it as they get up to Gervase's position, targeting one of the wounded enemies.

chakram vs red goblin dog, fatigue, 2nd increment: 1d20 + 6 - 1 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 6 - 1 - 2 = 6damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

"Just finding my range!"

by the way, I forgot to note which kind of cartridge I reloaded the blunderbuss with last round - it's a dragon's breath cartridge, hence Boomy's comment about fire.

Boomy spends 1 grit and an immediate action to use Gunslinger's Dodge for +2 to AC, and may move 5' towards the goblins.

Oh! it's more herbicidal goblins then.

Boom Sticks hears the approach of the goblin 'cavalry,' though they don't understand the singing at all.

Best to prepare.

Still fatigued from their exertion, Boom Sticks resumes 'humanoid' shape. They stow their hammer, and reload the blunderbuss with a paper cartridge. Let's see if they *really* like fire!

Swift to resume Leshy shape, move to stow lucerne hammer, standard to load a cartridge in bunderbuss, free 5' step.

"RUN? ... hide?"

What IS going on here?

Boom Sticks decides to do both. They stop to grab their gun and hammer from the floor and then they back away from the woods, and take root, becoming at once the same simple blackened vine that had hid in plain view at the tavern. I've used a move action each of the 'prep' rounds to pick up a weapon, and another to move. Then at the end of the second round of actions I use a swift action to assume Plant Shape. I am out of rage and fatigued for a further 4 rounds.

"Her- HERBICIDE?!"

It's enough to get the excitable leshy worked up. As Boom Sticks approaches the mob of goblins they determine that Gervase is surely trustworthy, being a fellow Pathfinder, and the goblin plant-killer scourge must be stopped.

They drop their hammer, and pull out their blunderbuss, walking right up to the lead goblin and pulling the trigger. ready attack will go off, and Boomy provokes an AoO, but rage makes their AC19 against these attacks. Boomy has enough movement to reach destination square without passing through a threatened square.
