Where are you from?
Bolka is from Zhufbar, a hold noted for it's smithing of metals, including Gromril.
What is your family like?
Bolka's father runs the Engineer's guild in Zhufbar, and his mother is head of the Smithing guild. Bolka's sole brother is a member of the King's Guard. Before taking the oath, Bolka had trained as a historian, but her father put an end to that when he announced her marriage.
What was your childhood like?
Both of Bolka's parents are entitled, self-important people who let the power they do have go to their head. It is said that Bolka's mother had planned her entire life for her while she was still in the womb, and Bolka was meant to have no say in her own existance. Given that she is pig-headed, Bolka and her mother tended to clash as she grew up, about everything; studies, clothes, friends, hobbies, chores: there was nothing her mother commanded that Bolka would do willingly. Every day was a struggle for her, and each argument (and especially loss) only strengthened her resolve.
Why did you leave home?
Despite, or perhaps because of her constant battles with her mother, Bolka grew up strong. She practiced warfare and lifting of weights whenever she could, and her hardwork paid off, giving her a rather imposing physique (in truth, she bulked up mainly to anger her mother).
When Bolka had her coming of age ceremony, she was introduced to the man her mother had arranged her marriage with: a merchant and distant cousin of the King. Bolka took one look at him and scoffed.
He was not just weak; he was soft.
When her mother made the announcement of their betrothal, Bolka stared daggers at her mother than challenged her suitor to a duel. The young man's father accepted, "knowing" that his son would put the upstart girl in her place.
It was over before it began.
Her assessment of the boy had been correct: he was soft. he failed to fully block her first strike, and instead only deflected the blade...straight into his own skull. Bolka stared agape (killing him had never been her intention; she had mainly wanted to show up her mother. She didn't count on him being this bad.
Before she could be arrested she fled; not knowing where at first, but eventually making her way to the shrine of Grimnir, where she found herself speaking the oath of the slayer. Her hair was naturally a bright red color, so she didn't need to dye it, but it took her a while to apply enough bear grease to get it to stand in a proper crest.
When the relatives of both children finally found where she had run, it was too late. The priest of Grimnir explained that she had taken the vow for her shame and would be leaving to seek her doom later.
The boy's parents grumbled but left willingly. Her mother had to be dragged away crying.
Eventually, she left the shrine to seek her doom, and given that she didn't feel comfortable in Dwarven lands anymore, she opted to head to the empire of Man.
Now she stalks things that stalk innocents, hoping each time that she will meet her end.
Who are your best friends?
Bolka had a best friend who was an apprentice smith, but after the events of the duel, she no longer spoke to Bolka. Other than that, she has no one.
What is your greatest desire?
Before the duel, the answer would have been to have her freedom; nowadays, it is simply to earn forgiveness from the spirit of boy she had killed.
What are your best and worst memories?
Best: Receiving her axe from her uncle, who had made it for her on the day of her birth.
Worst: Realizing that her mother might have actually cared for her for the entirety of her life.
What are your religious beliefs?
Bolka is mostly areligious; she gives thanks to Grimnir that she has a chance at redemption, and earnestly seeks to do better as well as a true doom.
To whom, or what, are you loyal?
Dwarves, innocents, herself.
Why are you adventuring?
Because she has no other means of earning money, and because adventuring has the best chance of bringing her to her doom.
