I thought we would've chucked the stiff over the bridge into the river.

The Exchange

Male Half-Elf Sorcerer (inactive)

@ GM Crunch:
Sounds good; just drop me a line when you're available.

The Exchange

Male Half-Elf Sorcerer (inactive)

@ GM Crunch:

Looks good.

Just PM me or something if you do the Horn of Aroden module.

And thanks for the time and effort on running this module, by the way.

The Exchange

Male Half-Elf Sorcerer (inactive)

I guess we can take some satisfaction in costing Myrosype a bundle.

@ GM Crunch:
That's fine. But, if you do run Horn of Aroden at some point, I'm available for that!

The Exchange

Male Half-Elf Sorcerer (inactive)

Sorry for the delay; long day yesterday in that real world rubbish

After the little heart-to-heart the party had with Myrosype, Beronûsh goes to try and impress Vayde:
"You've had a long and distinguished career, by all accounts … " etc, etc, etc
diplomacy: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

The Exchange

Male Half-Elf Sorcerer (inactive)

Sorry I'm a bit late.
I was out and about and/or chronically stunned yesterday.

@ GM Crunch
If you want to run the Horn of Aroden module later, I could partake in that. Whichever way you go about it.
I (the boring real world player) have already been through both the Trial by Machine and The Segang Expedition modules.

The Exchange

Male Half-Elf Sorcerer (inactive)

Rather surprised by Myrosype's outburst, Beronûsh replies:
"Formidable ability, that."
"But I'm going to decline your weighty offer."
"I'm not be one for following orders or laws."
"But I don't readily switch loyalties either."

The Exchange

Male Half-Elf Sorcerer (inactive)

Beronûsh listens, and thinks about the proposal.
"Tempting, obviously. But somebody would find out."
"No matter how unlikely."
"She might not even keep her word anyway."

The Exchange

Male Half-Elf Sorcerer (inactive)

Action 1
Doesn't look like I have any of the needed skills to impress the host.
Oh well.

"I have to confess that legal matters are beyond me."

Action 2
Beronûsh will spend his time trying to understand Cyran's trade interests:
sense motive: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
That does not look promising

The Exchange

Male Half-Elf Sorcerer (inactive)

Quick note: I use a Linux OS (Peppermint OS), instead of Windows.

I have a keyboard switcher, and quickly switch to the Spanish keyboard
configuration for a lot of those characters.

That way if I type Shift-{ vowel, I'll get â, ê, etc.

The really 'fun' one is the Polytonic Greek keyboard: « χαίρετε, ὦ φιλαί! »
I took a year of ancient Greek in Uni. That's the only reason I know that (a bit).

I also use the GNOME character map cut and paste for less common letters
from other keyboards.

The other thing that helps is I have lots of this stuff I use in a text
file that I just cut and paste. I do that a lot.

The Exchange

Action 1

Taking a look at the Chuul tentacles on offer, Beronûsh just says
"This looks … interesting."

And then just tucks in:
Fortitude, impress the host: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14

Action 2
Provided he's not paralysed or drooling (much), Beronûsh will try to analyze Irith Nomazmo for weaknesses:
sense motive, analyze Irith: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Woo!

♩ ♫ ¡Good Morning, Sunshine! ♪ ♬

Sorry for being a bit tardy.
I was in Vancouver visiting my Mum for about a week.
I should be back to normal now.
Normal for me, anyway! :D

For my part, I'd prefer to steer clear of any disputes

The Exchange

Male Half-Elf Sorcerer (inactive)

Beronûsh will try to impress the host with a recounting of the injuries that granted him his sorcerous abilities;
Impress, perform (oratory): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
… which is how my eyes and hair came to be coloured as they are."

While spinning his yarn, Beronûsh will also try to analyze Petronax for any weaknesses:
sense motive: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
but can't seem to detect any

The Exchange

Male Half-Elf Sorcerer (inactive)

Beronûsh will, first chance he gets, try to impress Passad about the time
joined a party to the shadow plane … which is true …
and how it was his quick thinking and his spells that saved the day
(which is bullocks/rubbish/fibbing)

bluff: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20

phew!

The Exchange

Male Half-Elf Sorcerer (inactive)

Beronûsh starts doing what he can to flatter (read "butter up") Passad:

"This really is a splendid place and lavish party, please tell me
about … blah, blah, blah, blather, blarney, etc, etc

diplomacy: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12

The Exchange

Male Half-Elf Sorcerer (inactive)

Sounds like a piece of cake!
(Cake made out of granite. :D)

The Exchange

Male Half-Elf Sorcerer (inactive)

There are variables, true enough.
Might not be able influence as we'd like.
I'd like to figure out how to manipulate others to stonewall her.
If possible.

The Exchange

Male Half-Elf Sorcerer (inactive)

I'm thinking along the lines of a debuff.
How best to cause her problems; but indirectly, through someone else.

We do know her plans.
But it would help to know her strengths and weaknesses too.

The Exchange

Male Half-Elf Sorcerer (inactive)

The only reason I want to analyse Myrosype is to get an idea of how to
get others to stonewall her by figuring out what her weaknesses might be.

As I see it, influencing someone else to mess her plans up is a good way
to go about things.

The Exchange

Male Half-Elf Sorcerer (inactive)

Beronûsh will try to mingle, and analyse Myrosype at the gathering:
sense motive: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
(or try to analyse her, as best he can)

The Exchange

Male Half-Elf Sorcerer (inactive)

Rather than bog down the game play forum too much:

GM Crunch wrote:
Analyze checks require Knowledge (local or nobility) or Sense Motive checks. Influence checks vary by NPC, and require successful Analyze checks to figure out what they are. The ones you know are in the spreadsheet.

That explains why Irith Nomazmo and Myrosype have empty Influence slots!

Sounds like Myrosype is a good one to analyse. And stonewall, I reckon.

The Exchange

Male Half-Elf Sorcerer (inactive)

Okay, I think I got it

The Exchange

Male Half-Elf Sorcerer (inactive)

Okay, thanks. And I'm sure Thurston is a great guy. It sounds, like, he might be from the Great White North, eh? Beauty! :D

GM Crunch wrote:
Does everyone understand the rules of the bid?

Sssort of. Are the Analyze/Influence checks based on the modifiers of the listed skills?

So, if I wanted to analyze or influence the old boy, Vayde, would I use a skill modifier from Know (Re), Know (No)/SM/Diplomacy, or Bluff?

The Exchange

Male Half-Elf Sorcerer (inactive)

"Any trouble expected? We did have a bit of a bother, by way of some bandits, on the way from Isger."

The Exchange

Male Half-Elf Sorcerer (inactive)

Beronûsh addresses the colonel:

"We were invited to watch the Druma council auction."
"On the way here, these bandits, "
as he points to their prisoners,
"Tried to waylay us. We thought you might be interested in them."
"Their antics would be bad for business in Druma, I reckon."

diplomacy: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

The Exchange

Male Half-Elf Sorcerer (inactive)

Turn them in for a reward (hopefully)!

The Exchange

Male Half-Elf Sorcerer (inactive)

Sorry, right you are Electra. Glitterdust is another good debuff.

The Exchange

Male Half-Elf Sorcerer (inactive)

Useful spells, Sleep and Colour Spray! At this level, at least.
Having them both on hand for long and short ranges worked a treat!

The Exchange

Male Half-Elf Sorcerer (inactive)

Round 3
Beronûsh looks at the bandit who laid his weapons down and says:
"Leave your weapons and run from here as fast as you can!"
(pointing away back across the bridge, away from the archers)
"There's more magic where that came from!"

He then does a quick chant, again, « ແສງເຕັ້ນ »

infernal:
"dancing lights"

… casting Dancing Lights this time

@ GM Crunch:
Making 4 will 'o wisp like dancing lights, and then moving them in front of the archers' faces.
I'm hoping it will distract them, and/or spoil their aim a bit.

The Exchange

Male Half-Elf Sorcerer (inactive)

Round 2
Beronûsh moves stays put and speaks again: « રંગ સ્પ્રે »

abyssal:
"colour spray"

Colour Spray, again …

And then addresses Fowrah: « મને મૂર્ખ ચુંબન! »

abyssal:
"kiss me arse!"
Taunting; just because!

@ GM Crunch:
Same thing as last turn; getting the bandits and Fowrah in the AoE.
It's the only offensive spell Beronûsh has right now.
The spell's DC 14 is, and Will save negates.

The Exchange

Male Half-Elf Sorcerer (inactive)

Round 1
Beronûsh moves up diagonally 5 feet and speaks again: « ພົ່ນສີ »

infernal:
"colour spray"

… casting a Colour Spray spell this time …

@ GM Crunch:
Put a translucent triangle on the map for the Colour Spray's AoE.
I'm hoping to get both bandits and Fowrah in the spell's AoE.
The spell's DC 14 is, and Will save negates.

That scroll of Resist Energy has 5 uses, does it?

The Exchange

Male Half-Elf Sorcerer (inactive)

"I have some magic instead of weapons."

The Exchange

Male Half-Elf Sorcerer (inactive)

"Interesting, and useful. I'm able to use most of those."
"I can use the curing wands, but not consistently."

Beronûsh can use the wands and scroll of resist energy.
He has UMD +9, so a 45% chance of using a wand of CLW each try at it.
The wand of Enlarge Person he can use easily, of course.

The Exchange

"Sounds easy enough," says Beronûsh vacantly.

Sorry I'm late! Wasn't quite with it the last couple of days.

In walks a half-elf with silver hair streaked with green and blue, skin that almost looks like weather beaten bronze, and neon green eyes. He does not seem self conscious about his appearance at all.

"Hello. I am Beronûsh. Hope you don't mind me arriving late."
"I was rather distracted and lost my way here."
