About Bellanie BurskBellanie Bursk
Background:
Bellanie was only 17 when she lost her parents Gaz and Burla. It was a normal day, like most others. Her family owned a small farm on the border of Lastwall and Belkzen a few miles south of Trunau. The farm was nestled into the hills with the Mindspin Mountains towering over them to the west. It was a beautiful place and they would trade their goods with merchants to and from Lastwall or Nirmathas as well as renting out rooms occasionally, full of life until that fateful day.
Bellanie had woken early, as she normally did to start her chores. While milking one of the cows she heard, what sounded like thunder in the distance getting ever closer. A brief glimpse outside she saw there were no clouds, but the pounding sound continued its approach. Moments later her father threw open the door on their home and shouted out "Giants!". Before Bellanie knew what was happening two humongous brutes that looked like men but were easily the size of their home or larger came over one of the hills. One tossed a boulder like it was a pebble and it slammed into the side of the house taking out the guest rooms and the kitchen. Bellanie started to run toward the house, but her father grabbing whatever weapon he could find, looked to Bellanie and held up his hand for her to stay put. There was a merchant caravan that had stopped their overnight on their way back to Skelt. Though half of them had been rooming in the guest rooms which were now completely collapsed the others grabbed what weapons they could and fought. The battle was bloody and Bellanie, watched in terror as the giants tore the men apart. Though that wasn't the worst of it, she had to shut her eyes after seeing her father get smashed by one of the giant’s huge clubs and then the world went black. She woke later to find herself in a wooden cage, the ground passing by beneath her. Looking back she say the back of one of the giants who had attacked, the cage attached to oversized rope being hefted over the giants shoulder, along with other cages and containers, some containing farm animals and food. Looking back she could barely make out the sight of her destroyed home as the giants took her into the mountains. The giant Krim was now her master. Bellanie spent the next five years in servitude to the giant who treated her like a small pet. He forced her to do his bidding and loved to make her sing for his pleasure. During this time, Bellanie was treated well enough, at least not being eaten or worse. Though she never forgot what the giants had done and always looked for her change to escape. She honed her skills of climbing, maneuvering, escaping tight spots and learning how to get through the oversized locks the giant used. Finally, after having stocked some supplies in secret and thinking herself ready Bellanie made a break for it. While the giant was sleeping she made her escape. Finding her way out into the mountains took her several weeks, staying out of sight from the threats of the wilds, but she eventually found her way down out into the hills. Getting her bearing she made her way to the closest town and the only place she had heard could hold its own in these hostile lands; Trunau. After a few more days of travel she finally found her way into town. It had been so long since she had been back in normal society it took her awhile to adjust. With nothing of real worth and no particular skills of use she found a place amongst other homeless survivors of other attacks. With her time spent with the giant she fended for herself stealing only what she needed and aiding in the town whenever there was a raid. For this she was tolerated. Apperance:
Bellanie is cute for a halfling, standing at only 3 feet tall. Her dusty brown hair is short and usually a bit of a mess but it adds a little to her charm. Even though she is well on her way to adulthood she can easily be mistaken for a human child if only given a quick look. She wears studded leather armor she found in the giants lair. Over this she commonly has very sturdy clothing and a cloak. Personality:
Bellanie is pretty easy going. Even with the events of the past she is easy to get along with but is very meticulous in how she conducts herself at any work she does. She enjoys singing and has spent more than a few nights at the tavern earning a meal by performing a song for the other customers. She has an innate hatred for giants, but having lived with one for so long she also has a good understanding of them. |
