Bayard, noticing Viridel turning, unslings his axe.
Loosening his shield, the Axeman charges into the fray, silvered axehead cleaving effortlessly through steel, bone, leather, hide, and the wicked wills of now-frenzied devils. For a distant audiance member, the Axeman almost seemed as a desperate figure to charge into the mouth of otherworldly horrors and had sacrificed himself--but it was in fact the opposite.
The axeman descends on bright angelic wings, which dissipate as his heavy boots hit the disintegrating ground. He leaves without looking back as the world collapses, reciting a short obedience to Damerrich, as his shield flew to his open hand. The Executioner left with confident ease, leaving a world he executed. Theatric exit somehow :)
Ok, here it is after some study. Divine Bond +3 (not applied I think, and irrelevant since smite and magical enhancement from outsider bane is the same) Attack
That's +21, +3 from foretelling and +1 from haste, for a total of +25/+25/+15/+5
Damage
1d12 + 24 + 4d6 The previous hits were for 1d12+36+6d6, for a difference in 12+2d6 damage. I'm missing something, which is clear; until I tell what (or if Bayard can chime in with a clarification), I'm using the calculation I found, for transparency's sake. Also Bayard takes 1d6/hit landed. I will need to know that from the DM, since we still don't know the devil's AC.
Bayard, taking advantage of the devil's vulnerability, takes another strike against the fiend. Attack w/penalties: 1d20 + 24 - 2 - 3 ⇒ (4) + 24 - 2 - 3 = 23
@DM: I forgot to add Bayard's two penalties; planar and negative levels. Deduct 5 from the to-hits for all hit results in my post above.
On Bayard's Turn As the first assault fails, Bayard goes into a practiced series of swings with his huge axe, cleaving wind, flesh, bone, and vellum alike. Attack+foretelling+haste: 1d20 + 24 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 24 + 3 = 34
Attack+foretelling+haste: 1d20 + 24 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 24 + 3 = 40
Attack+foretelling+haste: 1d20 + 24 + 3 - 5 ⇒ (8) + 24 + 3 - 5 = 30
Attack+foretelling+haste: 1d20 + 24 + 3 - 10 ⇒ (2) + 24 + 3 - 10 = 19
Before Bayard's Turn Will save + Foretelling - Planar penalties - Negative Levels: 1d20 + 17 + 3 - 2 - 3 ⇒ (13) + 17 + 3 - 2 - 3 = 28 Bayard resists the will-bending compulsion, and swings his axe in an attack as the devil is tossed backwards. Attack granted by Grymwold's Greater Bull Rush: 1d20 + 24 - 2 - 3 ⇒ (11) + 24 - 2 - 3 = 30
Bayard grasps the axe tossed to him, and flies forward, unable to charge from the foul spell, but axe glowing with holy wrath allthesame. He heaves its weight to land a powerful smite against the devil. Attack + smite + haste + foretelling - fatigue - power attack: 1d20 + 20 + 4 + 1 + 3 - 1 - 4 ⇒ (1) + 20 + 4 + 1 + 3 - 1 - 4 = 24
Not an epic start, but we're surrounding him. |
