APPEARANCE:

As a human, Barrich has a slight build and is baby-faced with sandy hair and a constant smile. He goes through some effort to keep himself and his clothes well-cleaned; even when on the road for days at a time he's constantly on the lookouts for inns, ponds, or streams where he can perform some ablutions in the morning. He has a fondness for dark green in his clothing, and usually highlights whatever he's wearing with at least one standout article of that color.

In his kitsune form, he retains the sandy hair coloration where red would normally be seen on a humanoid fox, with patches of dark brown on his muzzle, feet, and tail.

BACKSTORY:
Barrich's family claims that when the first caravan rolled into Avistan over the Crown of the World, they had ancestors in hiding among the humans. It might be true, though kitsune truths are often what other peoples call 'blatant hogwash'. Whatever the truth, there has been a small enclave of kitsune living in Kalsgrad for several hundred years. They have done well in hiding themselves among their Ulfen neighbors all this time; today, this small clan of half a dozen families contains a unique blend of Ulfen, Varki, and Minkan culutre.

Barrich grew up in this community with a curious eye and a developing sense of wanderlust. If a culture from one end of the world could successfully settle in and incorporate itself into another part of the world, what did the rest of the world have to offer? As a child, he consumed travelogues as fast as his family could procure them for him, but even those he felt unfulfilled by. The writers were always too... prosaic. He was reading about what other places were, not what they felt like. He decided from a young age that someday he would experience that world, and would write about the things he saw. Knowing that he'd need a sword as well as a pen to get by in the world, he learned the art of traditional combat while simultaneously crafting his own spontaneous style of verse. Once he reached adulthood, he set foot on the road and has yet to look back.
