Sorry for the long delays, I'm feeling pretty bad about all this. I just realized that next week is insane in the amount of work I need to do for university. Everyday I have some paper or exam. So rather than make half hearted posts, I'm going to take a breather until Friday at the latest. If this is a problem for the GM, PM me. Really sorry guys. And if I don't post by Friday, feel free to spam my inbox with poking. I'm not planning on quitting, don't you worry!
"I believe the last time we did that we..." He looks around, wondering if perhaps some stories were better left unsaid. "I imagine just this time would be fine. Though I have to say Raz, Pharasma's faith are not one I want to be caught impersonating. And in other words, I myself am not a great actor... I am worried that my appearance and mannerisms may hinder our cause." He looks at the assembled group. "Perhaps some of us with less theatrical talents could more easily play the role of a guard or escort perhaps? In a sense, we are being hired on so to speak and I figure this is a role a few of us may be able to play with relatively more ease."
Baqir sits silently (Unlike his usual self I assure you all) and listens to everything being said. It is indeed unlike the Pathfinders to display such coldness and obvious mistruths. He whispers to Raz "I apologize for my silence, I was quite lost in thought. I too am having some second thoughts on this whole cause but indeed, we've never let that stop us before." He looks around. A colorful group of individuals indeed. He regrets his silence and lack of participation during the evening. But close ties are not so easily made anymore he reminds himself. Yet, we are all misfits one way or another. Baqir is about to head off to rest but tries to catch Dr. Grey before he leaves. Assuming he knows Dr. Grey is an alchemist by trade, he attempts to ask him some questions about alkahest, a substance he saw numerous times in Osirion and always wanted to understand more.
I'll admit I am having a great amount of difficulty following the speed and quantity you fellows are posting at. I also believe I started on the wrong foot and ended up not connecting with any character, besides Raz of course, so Baqir's having a harder time fitting in. I'll post in and try my darndest to keep up.
Baqir watches silently the rest of the coming and going. Not much for small talk, at least not with strangers, he taps Raz on the shoulder and whispers in his ear. Spoiler:
"I'm afraid our gathering in the common room is making me a little nervous. Too many unknown variables left to chance. I'll make my way upstairs to my room. You have a pleasant evening friend. Be sure to wake me if any action begins." He then leaves, making no attempt to hide himself to his room.
Baqir Iskandar had to be pecked awake. "A man who sleeps soundly is one who is untroubled" he had always said. Baqir said a lot of things, and it was true, he found himself to be very untroubled of late. The metallic beak drilling into his sleeping face was trouble. Baqir, eyes still closed, pondered whether or not to simply dispatch the offender. He flips a coin in his mind... and watches it land. Mademoiselle Luck feels fickle today. He opens his eyes and sees the clockwork avian. He takes the letter. Reads it. Takes the key and watches the bird depart. And it seems Monsieur Fate has joined her. = = = = = = = "I'm quite sure." Baqir glanced at Raz. Funny that both of them would be chosen. He had always figured after Geb... never mind. "You know what I'm taking anyways," he says as Raz heads off to the bar. He looks around for whoever seems to be in charge here, and if he finds her, slides both his and Raz's key out. "Rooms for two. I imagine."
As a previous poster asked, I always prefer selecting equipment after knowing if I am chosen or not, to save time. As for backstory as requested:
But where there is fire and flame, there is always an opposite. Baqir Iskandar was this opposite. A man whose abilities stood as a contrast to his personality. Winter's ferocious fury blew from his fingers but inside of him, beat a heart as passionate as the most radiant of Osirion sunsets. Wati was his bloodstream and he pulsed through it, drawn by secrets of the past, whispers of forgotten treasures and the promises of futures long buried. And he would have lived there forever, were it not for Raz. (Confirm name with Dread Pirate later) Brothers are usually born within family, but not this time. To Baqir, Raz was the brother he had never known and the only man with enough courage and drive to persuade him to seek further on the horizon. Thus Baqir found himself leaving his scorching homeland, and traveling abroad. To be sure, his talents may have been locally known, but what would have gotten him and Raz noticed was Geb. But then again... we don't speak of Geb do we Raz. Baqir has left his life behind but his future lies ahead of him. To be part of something much bigger than himself for once is what he seeks. To find something to make his frigid heartbeat pulse once more with fury.

You are correct, that too is missing. There's a chance me and Dread Pirate Captain may want to do a collab on these characters so giving it 24 hours before committing anything to virtual ink.
All good tales such as these have their outsider. Captain Nemo of the Extraordinary Gentlemen is one such man. I would have Baqir Iskandar, Chosen by the Flames be such a man. His character sheet is being written up as we speak, but here are the details:
Thoughts, comments? Is this a character YOU would find interesting in such a setting. Baqir would perhaps stand out somewhat from the rest, but his desire learn to work with a new group and right wrongs would make him a fierce ally. Also, I've been dying to try out the kineticist. I've taken Crypt Breaker more as a push to fit within the campaign's structure, and would prefer to simply take a 5th level of Kin if possible. |
