What about the rest of the property? The larger building, which I presume to be the barn for the mules?

Are the slashes on the legs of the stool or the seat? Trying the determine the likely size of the one making the marks. Does the cuts in the stool look like an attempt to weaken it so that the stool would collapse when sat upon? Balor observes the gouges in the stool and the slashes in the grain bags. Why attack a stool or a sack of grain? Someone having a tantrum perhaps? Turning his attention to the bars in the furnace, he removes one and examines it more closely.Did they want to forge something but couldn't light the furnace? he ponders out loud.

Whatever nerd. :D We are on a battlemap. Sense Motive isn't an exploration activity. Exploration activities cover activities done while also travelling. "In exploration mode, each player who wants to do something beyond just traveling chooses an exploration activity for their character." We ain't "travelling" so we ain't in exploration mode, we are in encounter mode. :)

After ensuring that Ektar has left, Balor joins his brother in searching the building, quietly adding, We might do well to talk to the neighbors and his clan. See if they have any information or ideas as to what is going on. There is always the chance that Ektar isn't being totally honest with us. He might not even be aware of it himself. Seak action as well and then suggesting we might Gather Information after our search, should it bear no fruit.

The whole of the clan helped me wrangle the gold for a down payment, but since then, they’ve shunned me like I’ve done something wrong.” Seeming to be anxious to switch topics, your host jumps to answering the next question in line. Balor raises an eyebrow at Ektar's comment, and his apparent desire to avoid discussing it further. Before Ektar leaves to do his shores, Balor would ask him, "Are you positive your haven't done anything to turn your clan against you?" If you don't want to retcon, that's fine. Either way, Balor would like to Sense Motive regarding this comment.

What self respecting dwarf would refuse a host's offering of ale? Thank you for your generosity, Balor replies taking a seat. Once everyone is settled, he continues, What is the nature of the troubles we might assist you with friend?

Seeing the dwarf working on the fence, Balor calls out to him, Greetings good dwarf! Would you happen to be Ektar Beetsmith, or know where we can find him? It has come to our attention that he might be looking for someone to investigate some troubles he has been having. My brother, companions, and I would like to offer our services if he be interested.

Balor nodded his thanks to the food placed before him before greeting the newcomer, Pleased to make your acquaintance Ria. Indeed it is my brother and I's first time in Highhelm. I would very much like to visit the temple to Torag as well as many other of the historical and culturally important sights. Do you have any recommendations?

Aye, we are guests of Clan Tolorr as well. Our grandmother is originally from Highhelm and related by blood. This doesn't feel like 'official' Clan Tolorr business though, Balor shrugs. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I would think that if it was, there would be someone else joining us to explain the purpose of this meeting.

Balor gets directly to business. So what do you think the purpose is putting us together at this table today? Did the invitation come from Epna herself, or is she just the go between? If it isn't her, then who might have sent it?"

Balor had entered the dining room and made straight for the table as instructed, his brother following along a short distance behind. They sat down and looked around before sharing a few whispered words between themselves. At Alaniori's approach and introduction, Balor responded with his own introductions. I am Balor Blackforge, and this is my brother Drakan. Tar-Kazmukh eh? We hail from Kraggodan ourselves. Pleased to make your acquaintance brother. We have been here a similar time. |
