Liberty's Edge

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Hey, it's been a while since I was on these boards. I kinda dropped off the face of the Earth sometime during the playtest of PF 1e (and came back into gaming with the playtest of D&D 5e). I just heard the news about PF getting a new edition, so I decided to pop back on.

Despite the fact that I'm happy with D&D 5e, I just wanted to come back and wish Paizo success with the new edition. Paizo's always been a great company with great people, and has always made great quality products, so I'm wishing you the very best.

I hope that 2e is not only a financial success, but is also a hit with existing fans and brings in new blood, too.

Best wishes!

I just need a few clarifications about the beast shape spells.

Does a character gain the form's physical attacks (bites, claws, etc.)?

Is the character considered proficient with these attacks?

Does the character use his/her base speed or the speed of the animal form? For instance a human uses beast shape to take the form of a wolf, does the character have a speed of 30 ft. (as a human) or 50 ft. (as a wolf)?

Hey, I'm a 3.x player that really wants nothing to do with 4e (much in the same way I want nothing to do with the Hero RPG -- take that, Court Fool!*). That said, however, I'm quite content to accept that other people like 4e and wish them well in their gaming habits. I also want them to feel welcome here on the Paizo boards and as members of the Paizo community.

I'm sick of the edition wars and the zealots (on both sides), and would like to extend my hand to all the gamers out there that are content to let each other play the game they want without jumping down their throats or insulting them (except Court Fool*). So, I invite anyone (whichever side of the edition fence they stand) that wants to bridge this divide in our community to post here with their own overtures of unity. Or whatever.

Haters, jerks and poopyheads need not apply -- stop making these boards unwelcoming for the members of our community whose gaming tastes differ from yours (unless they play Hero*).

Sure, I realize this thread may not have the intended effect, but I'm curious to see who amongst us subscribe to a "game and let game" attitude.... And, why not?

Okay, since we all know that James loves dinosaurs, it's a safe bet that there are dinosaurs somewhere in Golarion. My question is: Where? Where can a poor Pathfinder find dinosaurs?

Valeros, Seoni, Merisiel and Kyra--I think many of us have come to dig the new iconics. The nice art certainly help. However, there’s still some questions that I have about these characters, mainly:

What are their ages, heights and weights?

What ethnicity they? We know that Seoni is Varisian, but what are Valeros and Kyra–are they Chelaxian? What derivation of elf is Merisiel (if there are any cosmetic difference between the different elven “nationalities”/ethnicities)?

Do any of them (other than Kyra) favor any particular god(s)?

While we know that both Merisiel and Seoni have never been the “settle in one spot” sort and Merisiel is nominally from Riddleport, where were each of the iconics born and where have the called home for the last few years?

Is there any chance of persuading/bribing/torturing you guys to expand on Valeros’ bio to give as much info on him as you did with the girls?

How did each of them meet, and what sort of relationship do each of them have with each other (is there someone who can barely stand another, does one have a long standing friendship with another, etc.)?

I’d love to hear more about the characters.

C'mon, my Paizo peeps, give us the low down of this fabulously creepy picture. Harvester of Souls, huh? There's got to be a story behind this.

And, yes, I'm looking forward to Gallery of Evil. :)

Liberty's Edge

I've only done a brief read of this so far, but this looks it's really one heck of an adventure. XD

I love the full page art on page 54, but what is that Far-Realmsian looking critter in the picture being attacked by the naked deinonychus supposed to be?

Hi there!

I ordered Dungeon #95 and Dragon issues #315 & #319 (print) on Feb 14....

While I've received the order today, what shipped and what was ordered is a bit different. While Dungeon #95 showed up, both Dragon #315 and #319 are mysteriously missing and in their place are Dungeon #115 and #119. Doh!

Is it just me, or do the Exotic Olman weapons seem extremely weak for being Exotic weapons? As they're currently written, there's no reason, mechanically, for a player to choose to expend a feat to use any of these weapons.

Japute: Of the three weapons listed, this one comes the closest to earching he Exotic weapon categorisation. Still, even with it's special features it's should only be a Martial, Light Melee Weapon.

Shimalo'koa: Mechanically, this should be a Simple, One-Handed Melee Weapon.

Kaua'koi: There's nothing to mechanically differentiate this weapon from a quarterstaff except that it's not a special monk weapon and you can choose to do either bludgeoning, piercing or slashing damage. Nothing here to make it anything other than a Simple, Two-Handed Melee Weapon.

It should be noted that I'm strongly opposed to the idea that a weapon should be listed as Exotic (and thus require a feat slot to use without penalty) simply because it's "uncommon," "foreign" or "strange." A weapon should only be put into the Exotic category if it is mechanically superior to a Martial weapon of the same type. Otherwise, it punishes players that try to select weapons to make their characters "different" or "exotic."

Now lest it sound as though I'm not trying to dog Mr. Logue, I'd like to note that I thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the article. :)
