I find myself in the exact same situation as the OP, except I'm taking over as GM from the person who took us through Burnt Offerings. His style left a lot to be desired and I'm pretty sure the PCs aren't that invested in the town or interested in NPCs.
For my first session (which is also my first session ever as GM - yikes!), the PCs will have the opportunity to enjoy a bit of Sandpoint's nightlife. I have recruited one of them (my husband) to be my "helper" as his character is a local who can encourage the rest of the party to take up the NPCs on their offers to explore the town's pubs, etc. Hopefully they will all be ok with a RP only session. There is the possibility of a bar fight if it seems they are hungry for some combat action. Although having never done it before, I'm sort of unclear on how to run a bar fight with made-up NPCs...

I will be checking in with the whole party tonight (we are about to start another game with one of the PCs in my game as GM), to make sure everyone is ok with hanging out in Sandpoint for a bit before moving on to the next chapter.

Please don't put major spoilers like this (Foxglove's importance in Chapter 2) in the SUBJECT LINE of the thread! Remember, even if you trust players not to come to the Rise of the Runelords forum, the subject line of every thread appears in the "Messageboards" box on the site's main page whenever that thread is updated.

Sorry about that! I didn't know how to format spoilers. I don't know how to edit the subject line. I can just delete my post, though. This was my first time posting here, rookie mistake.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I'm about to take over GMing our game for Chapter 2 of RotRL. For Chapter 1 I played a PC, Miranda and it just happens to be that she is who the previous DM chose to be the one that Alden Foxglove is obsessed with and lusting after.
I'm not sure the other PCs actually remember what happened during the boar hunt with Foxglove (he was perving over Miranda), but at our last session there was a rose left on my PC's bed at the Rusty Dragon. And the DM told me he was planning to use Miranda as Foxglove's obsession for Chapter 2. (Yes, he read ahead and that will make DMing with him now as a player a bit tricky, but that's a different subject).

Since Miranda will be leaving the game soon, I'm trying to figure out how to deal with this for Chapter 2. I can't really go back and change what happened before (with Miranda) but I feel that it's super important that one of the current PCs will now be the one Foxglove is obsessed wtih.
Any suggestions?
