Sin: Pride
The Brahms family is an old and by most accounts dying family. Once the family was large, both in number and holdings lording over the surrounding areas. They used their leverage to promote the worshiping of their Goddess, Souna the Virtuous. The Brahms beleived themselve's Souna's Chosen and felt that their good fortune was a sure sign that they had her favor as warriors of light. With the coming of Dracula and his hellish brood, they felt it as their duty to repel the night and lord of darkness. This cursade against the accursed is what saw their ultimate downfall; as the dead piled high and coin dwindled to nothing, the once great family fell into despair and was left with nothing. The duty was ultimatley left to the Belmonts, who had much better success.
Astrid is one of the few last true members of the Brahms family, with an untainted bloodline passed from Father to Son. She is one of three children; the middle in birth with an elder sister and a younger brother. Her brother, Eric, is her aging father's only hope for a continuation to his lineage. Astrid's mother was too old to have children, but prayed to Souna the Vituous and was rewarded for her faithfulness. Unfortunatly, she died shortly after the birth. Her elder sister, Sina, is learned in the womanly arts, and hopes to marry some rich noble from some far off place to try and earn back her family's ancient holding's through deceit and treachery. Astrid had learned very little of the womanly arts, having more interest in her Father's tales of Knights and Battles. Before his son was born, Astrid's Father had been more accepting of her interests and had her trained in combat, at least to a small degree. After Eric was born Astrid fell to the wayside, as the true Heir had the need of her teachers and assistants soon enough. Astrid, without purpose, prayed to Souna for guidence and set out for the surrounding towns. She was picked up by a Clergy and trained there for a time, secretly praying to her own Goddess for strength. From there she moved to a different town and was enlisted into the City Guard as she had some knowledge of combat. She continued in this manner, traveling and training, honeing her abilities, proving to herself and others of the Glory of the Brahms, Chosen of Souna the Virtuous, Warriors of Light, Champion of the Dawn. She now returns to where her family's ancient tale began, certain that she has been chosen by the Goddess.
Souna the Virtuous
A minor deity once worshiped by the people of the surrounding areas. Her disciples preach the merits of personal accountability and strength that is used to better the world at large rather than for purely selfish reasons.
As the Brahms dwindled so did her flock, most only worshiping her as the Brahms commanded within their holdings. She is left with few true followers, the most devout being the few true Brahms left. It is true that once they had held her favor, however once in a place of power their Pride overtook them leaving them hateful, greedy, self absorbed creatures; barely better than those they had hoped to slay. In the end their own power failed them and their Pride devoured them leaving all but nothing.
