Ashteral and her family were of pure Chilaxian blood. They moved into a colony outside of Cheliax when she was very young. They were living there happily and peacefully for what seemed like the longest time. There was always food on the table, slaves to do the cooking and cleaning and no one to threaten them. Then one day some night guards has reported to the leader of the colony that there was some Barbarians that had raided one of the other colonies most were dead or missing. Very few escaped and were able to make it to theirs to report. Her father joined up with the soldiers to hunt down the clan to protect the colony. Sadly though he never returned as most of the party was butchered. Within days the colony was overcome by the clan. They kidnapped her since they could see potential in her eyes as she tried her best to defend her mother who was gravely injured by an arrow that hit her in the chest.
She trained hard every day with the clan trying her best to please the chief, Graz, of the tribe. He has taken her under his wing as a daughter after everything due to how fierce she was in combat and how quick she was to anger. She showed something that he did not see in many of the fighters. She was fast and also agile when it came to dodging attacks from foes. She soon was joining them in raids and going out on hunts on her own. The one thing that she got for her 13th birthday was a great sword that she called Nightblade. The chief told her that she earned it for all of her hard work in the clan. She was enjoying every minute of her life although she still missed her life in Cheliax. She kept something’s that she found in her raids including books and scripts. She was still a refined lady at heart. Shortly after her 16th birthday though the first attack on her clan happened, several of the women had been taken into slavery including her closest and best friend Nightingale was taken she had slaughtered about a dozen of them trying to save her. Graz was also wounded in the attack. She vowed to save both Nightingale and kill the slavers to restore peace. A month after that attack a different slaver group attacked the camp again this time at the dead of night, they bound and gagged her so she could not escape. When she awoke during the process she was struck in the back of the head with a club knocking her out. She awoke sometime later in a cage on a ship not sure where but wanting to escape and find Nightingale.
Matilia Blacksun—she is Ashterals late mother that was killed during the barbarian raid. She sometimes can still see her and hear her at times. She loved her more then anything since during the pregnancy and sometime after there were constant complications that threated her daughters young life. She was shoot and the last thing her mother saw was her daughter attempting to fight off the barbarians. When she is see she often voices her opinion on how she dislikes Ashterals new life style wanting her to be a refined Chelaxian woman again.
Chief Graz—Leader of the barbarian clan that took Ashteral during the barbarian raid. He has no children of his own since he lost his wife a long time ago. He sees her as a daughter that he never had. He has been training her and watching her grow for the past three years. After getting injured in the first Slave raid he was wounded preventing him from being able to fight again. This angered Ashteral for he was one of the best warriors and it would be difficult for the clan to do anything without their chief in combat to make the calls.
Nightingale—Ashtereals first friend after joining the Barbarian group. She was a great weapon smith that made Ashterals prized sword Nightblade. She was taken in the first slaver raid as they caught her off guard with a club to the back of the head dragging her off. Ashteral wants to free her since she was a close friend and since Ashteral thinks that she would make a great leader for the clan once Graz meets his maker.
