About Myquaph

Image of Myquaph (artist: tongman)

Myquaph is a muscular half-orc who dresses in all black. He slips into shadows with ease; so much so that people tend to forget he is around until he speaks up. Though he keeps its magic dormant when not needed, his greataxe is always with him. Its name is Goruza.

When you first meet Myquaph, you may notice he is wearing your patron's holy symbol around his neck. That's because he has a bag containing the holy symbols of all major gods of the Inner Sea and Tian Xia regions, and switches which one he's wearing depending on who's around. He believes that the gods watch over holy men and women, and he wants whichever god is watching to know that Myquaph is right along with them. That said, sometimes Myquaph will just wear all his holy symbols at once, and just hope that something works.

Myquaph's mother is a human ninja named Ayoka. Ayoka undertook to get close to an orcish warlord and assassinate him. She allowed herself to be "captured" by the orcs and taken as a "trophy". Once brought to the warlord, Ayoka seduced him. Then she killed him. Later, back amongst her clan, Ayoka discovered she was pregnant with the warlord's child. She chose to raise him herself, naming him Myquaph. At first, her clan laughed at the big, brutish half-orc. They allowed Ayoka to teach him the arts of ninpo, but only because they wanted to see him fail miserably. But when he passed passed the Test of the Bells and mastered the Shadow Dance, they gladly called him Brother.

One of the elder ninjas of the clan still hated Myquaph, however. His name was Takehiko, and he wanted Ayoka for himself. Ayoka loved Takehiko back, but she refused to leave the clan with him, for Myquaph's sake. So Takehiko sent Myquaph on an absurdly dangerous mission - to infiltrate the nascent Lantern Lodge in Goka and kill Amara Li, who he described as a vile traitor. Not knowing anything of the Pathfinder Society or this woman, Myquaph accepted.

The Lantern Lodge was still being built then, and Myquaph managed to sneak past its outer defenses. However, when he got close to Amara Li, her guards found him and subdued him. Li questioned Myquaph and found he had been set up, so she decided to free him, and even shelter him from Takehiko. Inspired by Amara Li's generosity and beauty, Myquaph swore a bond of allegiance to her. Now he is one of the Lantern Lodge's most able covert agents.
