Thanks everyone, yeah it's been surreal. My husband's birthday was a couple weeks ago and I told him... Well... Guess no one will ever blow on candles on the cake that everyone else will put in their mouths afterwards. COVID-19 took out a tradition that everyone took for granted... Now you just don't breathe on the food someone else might eat.. lol.. it's totally changed the way we think of contact, social gathering, sharing food, face-to-face interaction, shopping, etc. I'm just glad things are getting better for us. It's sooo unpredictable who it will hit hard. Among our family and friends, we've seen 20 yr olds nearly die and centenaries recovering without too much fuss.

Our city is peaking right now, cases are going up so the worst has yet to come. We're home and waiting it out.... But I'm glad to play by post now that things have settled into a monotonous routine and we're just moving along one day at a time.

I'm back. The COVID-19 ate my life for a while. It's been nuts. I have a lot of catching up to do... I will have some more time now as we're getting past family getting sick and recovering and/or dying, it's been an intense several months. I feel like things are starting to slowly get back to normal, whatever that is.

Is there still a place for Sunyata in game? Will be reading to catch up.

I have a technical question about how to best maximize combat.

Sunyata will attack the B3-B4 area... I see a baddie in that corner.

How do I use the bonuses to "combat maneuver"? Like in a dice expression how do I use this? Does this stack with attack? Or does it impact how Sunyata takes damage?

Sunyata will want to pull out martial arts to neutralize the creature (aiming to break bones, choke, or eliminate vital bodily functions).

Also how often can I use any given feat, is it per round?

Also is "combat maneuver defense" with +21 useable to counter combat attacks? I have various Feats that seem like they could be nifty... Still trying to understand how to best use my stats with my character in combat.

What do you think GM? Or anyone else? Suggestions welcome!

Some of our last combat episodes let me with the impression that we are in need of some upgrades, and maybe a tank who can soak up a lot of damage.

Some thoughts on those who have been traveling with Sunyata, since there is sometimes some space in between our RP and posts... points to keep present about the character in their day to day.

Sunyata could be described as beautiful in a strange otherworldly way, just awkward around social interactions... except in temples,ships and brothels, where she knows the social dynamics for the transactional quality all interactions have. ZERO-silver-tongued, zero charming with words, but imposing physically with a kind of non verbal body language that makes people respond, she has adapted her shortcomings this way, because she is a willful creature with intense rages that surfaces, with plenty of addictions which she tries to hide (she drinks a lot but isn't the life of the party, and does a weird herb pill that affects Maenads hardcore). She is a hardcore introvert with a serious chip on her shoulder... and uses substances to take the edge off... like any pirate, so she doesn't stand out much as some pirates are raging drunks. But if people interact with her close up and for long enough they start to realize she is really peculiar and ritualistic, carving out time for her martial practice, but is really helpful at the same time always willing to do things for people, because she knows she sucks at words socially. Also she is extremely reserved about her preferences for partners.. it's hard to read if she ever has an interest in any person in particular. But she goes to the brothels and there's some inklings she likes ladies. It's been vague and she is super reserved about her preferences.

I really enjoy fleshing out the story side of the RP in this game. I like the battle and banter between the characters, and the color/flavor the game is in the characters, I am enjoying all the different characters and have been thinking of how to manifest in RP Sunyata's strengths and weaknesses.

This low charisma/intelligence combo is an interesting challenge to develop... it doesn't mean the character doesn't have personality, maybe it's the opposite like they're more conflicted, or just are quirkier because they struggle with this weakness in life... so it requires some extra thinking about how to manifest those attributes... Examples of the low charisma might be like Luke Skywalker, Inigo Montoya (Princess Bride), William Turner - totally low charisma characters, never smooth, never able to really convince people easily, or always get their bluff called... but good guys, or have the heart in the right place, etc.

Found this tidbit that made perfect sense to me.

"High charisma isn't essential for cool heroism, and low charisma doesn't have to mean you're a clod or a goon. You can be good-looking with low charisma, you can be noble and heroic, and just maybe you're not imposing or silver-tongued. Just keep in mind that you don't have to be a rude slob just because you have a 9 CHA. :-)"

Who else has played low charisma/intelligence characters?

Right, so what you have to weigh is:

Bigger the port, better chance to get a good price for loot and more items to sell, but higher visibility and the chance to run into Harrigan or someone equally distasteful

Smaller port, harder to sell loot, but less visibility

Not medical, I have my own tech startup. Given the industry... It's not strange. Trying to launch something massively big and world changing.

A token is anything on the map that represents a character - good or bad, or a thing.

Sunyata can rage (Unyielding anger)...could she get multiple martial arts moves as they kind of constitute one fluid movement? (Ki strike?)

I used your flurry of blows ability, which gives you two unarmed attacks. You hit with the first but not the second.

I'll update the next moves of the chief and his lackeys this afternoon.

Beautiful! Flurry of blows works. Is that unarmed? How do I calculate how much damage my unarmed attacks inflict? And are there feats I have that make my attacks more effective?

Since I'm a monk... In melee I might as well use my martial arts...no?

Hey folks Ive been trying to post but for some reason it goes to a blank and the post doesn't complete. I'm trying again right now. Anyway I've been following although haven't been able to successfully post my dice rolls. I would like to keep attacking and finish the fight...

I gave up after writing my post a few times over a few days... Will need to get to my computer... Maybe it's a mobile phone glitch..??

Sunyata, I rerolled them for you with the brackets. You had the equation right, but need to put the {dice} and {/dice} around the equation to make it work. But, replace the { with [.

Check the "How to format your text Show" spoiler under the typing window and it'll help you format it right.

Sunyata will offer to show everyone around. And gives some tips on the lay of the land. It's not that big so it's not that hard to cover all the major points.

Is the +# the bonus on the attribute? In this case I have a +3 to dex, and stealth uses dex..?

GM where should I be to start...?

Sunyata, to get started, go to "My account" and create for yourself an alias that you'd like to post with. Like Sub for example - SubiculumHammer is his main account, but he has different aliases for different games, as Taptap is his in this one. Then, you can pick a pic for your character that matches what you think she should look like.

Then, head over to the gameplay thread and post (type) in character, so that you can get the feel of it. Just say what your character would say, do what they do, and so forth. We'll help with the dice rolling and rules; we're a very accommodating bunch. Please try and put your writing in a spoiler - see "How to format your text" below.

Hi, struggling with character creation. I have the character concept worked out... I'm following along here while trying to get the stats fleshed out... Correctly.

Also keep in mind, we are pirates. A paladin might have a hard time following the pirate life.

We lack a wizard type. Rush is of the more divine ends as caster.
Also if Belliott stays out, we won't have a front liner fighter.

Gotcha... Hmmm those two are kinda extremes... I think it's always good to have a tank in the group. But wizards have a strong role too... Paladin maybe...? Any special races allowed? Thinking maybe something that can compensate a bit with class... Tengu, Tiefling, Oread, Aasimar...?

I was also looking at Inquisitor, but Paladin and Fighter look tank-ier.

...or if we wanna just go all out... A Fighter/Wizard to Eldritch Knight? From an orc or draconic or arcane/sage bloodline... #gotGish?
