While serving Mendev, a cleric of Iomedae was the only one nearby to assist a woman going through a painful childbirth. Try as he might, he was unable to save her life. He was able to comfort her in her last moments by swearing to see that her child was cared for after her passing.

To his surprise, the child showed signs of pit-fiend heritage. The cleric, making good on his word, raised the boy as a Paladin of Iomedae. Turning his drive for destruction to destroy the enemies of the church; all the while instilling in him the desire to preserve goodness, loyalty and to protect the weak.
