We met with Skuroth, who informed us of the infestation, and the boils taking over part of the forest.
Grippli and Fezier," Arxus motions to his companions, "were able to track the foul creature. There we faced the demon, Ammach. I called upon the might of the Inheritor to guide my blade to rid Heaven of his fiendish presence. The battle raged against Ammach and his tainted boils. Through some... unorthodox tactics by my companions, we were able to subdue the fiend."

Arxus attacks the non-calmed puppet, making a show that his weapon is stuck, and frees it enough to accidentally swing it wildly and hit the puppet.

Arxus then attacks the puppet closest to him.

I know 'paladin code and forgiveness' or whatever. But Arxus follows Iomedae and has sworn an oath against fiends. "An oathbound paladin swears an oath to eradicate a certain kind of evil." But if the scenario calls for us keeping Ammach alive. Arxus will grumpily play along.

The demon continues to curse and claw at Arxus, an onslaught that is felt in full. "Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!"

Sorry I haven't continued tagging it in my posts (some have been done hurriedly at work), but the demon is the target of my smite, so my AC is 3 higher against it... All of those attacks would miss. Since everyone jumped on the heal Arxus train after that, I'll leave it up to the GM how to handle it.

"Too scared to face us head on?!" Arxus yells as he charges the demon!

Assuming that he can charge those two squares that are mostly large branch. If not, the attack is 2 less.

Attack, Smite, Charge, Bless: 1d20 + 8 + 3 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 8 + 3 + 2 + 1 = 32
Damage, Smite: 1d10 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 3 + 4 = 12

Weapon is Adamantine, but smite bypasses all DR. And (assuming this first attack hits, and the demon is an "outsider (evil)") then the damage is 4 points higher.

Armor classes after the charge: AC-22 Tch-9 FF-21. Agst the demon: AC-25 Tch-12 FF-24

Arxus will move to put himself between the demon and his comrades.

Arxus then bangs his bastard sword against the holy symbol of Iomedae painted on his shield and points the tip of his blade at the demon, "Today is your last... day."

Smite Evil, and ready an attack against the demon if/when it comes in reach (only 5 ft. for Arxus).

Arxus' AC against the demon is now AC:27 Touch:14 FF:26

Arxus hears the clang of Grippli's staff on his plate armor, gives the grippli a look, then proceeds forward.

I'd like to play on, I've got no plans to play Arxus anytime soon.

"I shall walk beside you, Grippli, as I have before."

Arxus moves alongside Grippli, shield equipped, and bastard sword drawn. Ready to be the first into combat, and almost... giddy(?!) that he will be able to make good on his oath by vanquishing another demon.

Arxus will pick up The Slates of Klador and attempt to recite the holy phrases.

Knowledge (Religion): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

Hoping that is enough to satisfy part of the ritual, he offers up the best asset he has: his strength.

Taking note from Lya's actions from Elgar's Forgotten Compendium he offers up the strength of his body as sacrifice for Valais' recovery.

Arxus appears happy to be helping, so his gritted teeth are likely due to the pain of the sacrifice.

"Let's get you free of this evil..." He thinks towards Valais, not wanting to speak and interrupt the ritual.

Arxus spends two minutes removing his full-plate armor, before attempting to swim for this book.

Arxus walks away dejected, with soaked clothing, carrying his armor until he can find someone willing to spend 4 minutes helping him put it back on...

At Fez's suggestion, Arxus heads to where he believes the Archon told him The Slates is located.

"Oh great glowing one in the sky, you have perfect knowledge of this place, and you likely know what it would take for us to retrieve the tomes we require. I'm sure you also would have a good idea of what most of us are capable of by looking at us. The exception being that one," Arxus says, pointing at Corrin, "He is more of a spellcaster than you would imagine."

"Would you, perhaps, be able to recommend how we should proceed, and who should seek out which book? We would be grateful for the opportunity to make the best use of our mortal time in Heaven."

Arxus presents his token to be taken by the heavenly being.

He then looks to his group, particularly Fez and Grippli, and says, "Libraries aren't normally my thing. I can help out however you think is best."

Arxus reminisces about how he enjoyed the quiet companionship of Archer... while straining his discipline to maintain focus (let alone consciousness) during this verbal onslaught.

"...because I'm nice..."

HAHAHAHA!AH! HAHAHAHAHA! hehehehe... heh.... hehehe... he....

Arxus glowers at Fez for his ill intentioned words. Then regains his composure and looks peaceably at the hound-headed figure.

Arxus moves along with the group, and watches quietly, obviously preferring action to words.

When Kitarlo offers his hand, Arxus grasps it with firm respect and replies, "Arxus."

He then gives Valais a knowing and sympathetic look as he approaches her and places one armored gauntlet on her shoulder. And turns to stand proudly by her side.

"My goddess requires me to accept an enemy's surrender, but in war it is usually necessary to slay the enemy to protect what is worth saving. Valais, I will stand by you in this worthy endeavor."

"Also, to help ensure that Valais' mind remains her own: do we know if Protection from Evil or Protection from Chaos appear to have any effect on her demonic influence? I would like to avoid, or quickly and nonviolently reconcile, any outbursts or loss of control that could occur."

Arxus has a troubled expression on his face as he recalls his tumultuous youth growing up in Mendev, with obvious fiendish heritage, fighting every day to join and train with the paladins of Iomedae, to rid the land of demons. His expression hardens with determination and resolve as he speaks.

"You need not fear any evil acts from me. I sympathize with Valais', fighting against a demonic influence over your soul, and the drive to cleanse yourself and strive to do good. This is a most worthy cause. The eradication of demons and their influence has always been my solemn oath."

In walks a man with red skin, and two small horns protruding from his temples. He is wearing glistening full plate, with a bright sword patterned on the front. He holds a helmet under one arm, a large sword hangs from his hip, and a large metal shield painted with the same design as his armor covers his back.

"Apologies for my late arrival. Lady Zadrian, I was under the impression we were meeting in your office, and it appears I was mistaken."

He turns to look at the rest of the group that is assembled, and gives a knowing nod to Grippli and Pig.

"For those of you that I have not had the pleasure of working with before: I am Arxus. Paladin of Iomedae. I will do my very best to bring you all back alive."

"Well... This should be interesting..."

"To be clear, my little friends here is only referring to the Aspis and Slagcrusher organizations. We look forward to continuing pleasant business with the Ungrounded."

Arxus states while placing a hand on Prizm's shoulder, and showing a pleasant smile.

I'm assuming military protocol would be similar to the Star Wars mixed species forces: everyone is called "sir" regardless of gender, or lack thereof in the species. If this is incorrect, assume Arxus is using "ma'am" or the other correct term

Arxus will walk at the front of the caravan, ready to be the first to greet people they approach, or enter battle with those blocking their way unlawfully.

Sense Motive on the Captain: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18 before leaving the office.

After leaving the Ungrounded property Arxus will ask the party,
"Do any of you know anything about this person we're working for, or what trouble we may come across?" Are there knowledge or diplomacy checks available?

"Last time we were given incorrect information that would have been embarrassing if we had acted on. I don't much like liars, I would like not to be misinformed again..."

ah, missed the "his estate" bit on the first read-through.

"Alright, we'll get going."

"Didn't answer my questions about why it needs guarding..."

"Just a few. Where are we heading to? Is the route determined already, and will it be scouted out ahead of time? Are any points of the route particularly vulnerable to ambush? Has this caravan been attacked before? If so, what do we know of the suspected attackers or attack points?"

Arxus likes tactics...

Probably sleep.

Arxus will report in and wait a short amount of time for a mission briefing, before retiring to his quarters; polishing his armor, honing his blade with a whetstone, and reciting his devotionals to The Inheritor. Then he will go to bed.

Would Arxus be able to reveal a tile from her sleeve or the pockets in them without too much trouble or appearing out of bounds for his station to do so?

Arxus will patrol the edges of the gambling hall, and pay attention to whatever the clients use to manipulate their gambling components (hands in most cases).

Gambling is not really my thing, but I think I get the concept of these games.

Attacking Blue

Arxus will attack the blue that attempted to strike him.

Bastard Swords are Martial Two-Handed Weapons, that can be used One-Handed with the Exotic Weapon Prof feat. I'm assuming that it is available in the supply of blunted weapons?

Arxus will survey the blunted weaponry with focus.

"Well, at least they're not made of wood, like last time..."

He will scour through the weapon racks to find a Bastard Sword, a longsword, and a shortbow (any that could be a composite with a +3 Str rating?) with some blunted arrows. Masterwork versions of the weapons, if they have them!

"Always good to have backups and be prepared," Arxus tells his comrades when they eye him grabbing multiple weapons.

If limited to just one: it will be the Bastard Sword

Arxus will keep as low a profile as he can, he's always stuck out and would like to avoid that. Especially since sticking out seems to draw negative attention.

During dinner, however, he will try to quietly ask for advice for the best ways to appease the Captain and get through​ training successfully.

And before bed, he does his regular devotionals, and armor polish,​ and Whetstone on his Bastard Sword.
